The parking lot was full so we had to park next door. 1pm on a Sunday afternoon. We requested a table on the patio over looking the river. And they sat us in a corner with a bunch of trees blocking our view. Dang it. I guess the service dog had a little to do with it. And - honestly the deck was pretty full. We decided to share a couple appetizers. Cajun Eggrolls 3 eggrolls stuffed with crawfish tails, cheese, alligator sausage, peppers and spices and served with one regular dip of choice $15 Pepperjack Boudin Balls 3-I-Johnny's pork boudin balls stuffed with pepperjack cheese $14 And a cup of Crawfish Etouffee Made from scratch; A blend of fresh vegetables and spices cooked down into a perfectly seasoned sauce with farm raised Louisiana crawfish tails served over a bed of rice $8 Everything was very tasty. The service was ok. Nothing special but not rude, just blah. They (3 ladies) spent time laughing and joking together but didn't really engage with me at all. A little disappointing since I was the only person at the bar and only two other parties in the restaurant. The place was clean and smelled of spice when I walked in...good signs! I had the catfish and shrimp poboy and the gumbo. Poboy had plenty of fish and shrimp, came out hot and had pretty good flavor. Not great, but solid. The gumbo couldn't been the star of the show, it was flavorful and meaty but it had so much grease. It literally layered on your teeth and you had to push past that to try to enjoy what otherwise wouldn't been a good gumbo. If you are in the area is worth a try. read more

OK. This place is spectacular. Our server, Bella, was amazing! She was both friendly and knowledgeable...her recommendations were spot on! She's the best! We got the Crawfish Cornbread. I was willing to take the chance and it was so darn good! We tried the Gumbo, Shrimp and Grits, Biscuit and Gravy, and a Shrimp PoBoy! All were excellent and flavorful! This place is a must! The staff are friendly young students. The Gator bites were tougher than most. The crawfish in Étouffée were chewy, over cooked. The base of the Étouffée was very good. The red beans and rice were good and hot. Both portions were huge, 2 more meals easily. Lots of guest enjoying the patio on a beautiful day overlooking the river. The inside is a good ole town eatery. We came late in the lunch time frame which could have been a factor in food quality. I would give it another chance. read more

Came to this restaurant because it was highly recommended. When we got there, it wasn't as busy as it got later on in the night. We ordered the Boudin dip which was great, so I was excited for the rest of my meal. However, my entrée the redfish Orleans was not good. first of all, my food took a very very very very long time to come out with no explanation. The waiter just kept saying it's on the way, it had me thinking what they were doing back there, just to bring out this plate. I mean, you can see from the plate that that doesn't look appetizing at all in the food wasn't even that hot. My friend got red beans and rice which he enjoyed. I also got "the world famous" gumbo to go and eat on the next day. I attempted to eat the gumbo the next day and it was so sour! So sour that I called the restaurant and ask if this was normal. Hidden gem In town for a few days to site see. Tourist office recommended this, if we were going to be here on a Thursday. Best meal we had all week. Unlimited boiled shrimp for 19.95$ and let me tell you... Best ever. Seasoning was spot on, plates were heaping. The margarita looked like it would be amazing (it wasn't, it was actually grosd) however the shrimp special alone made up for it. I'd drive back 5 hours for this meal. Server was excellent. Ambiance was just right, we sat by the window and it was not to loud or to quiet. read more

Very disappointed on the food here, the T Johnny's small location on hwy 1 is shrimp and crawfish and is good, exactly what you expect. This review does not reflect the service. Our waitress was great. The food was awful. The gator quesadilla was covered in a sauce plus it was so greasy. The gator itself was so chewy I couldn't choke it down. They gave us $1.70 off since we let them know it was bad. The ribeye was also not great. It came with a potato casserole (guessing they don't serve baked potatoes) that was so salty. Also there was a male cat on the patio climbing all over the top of the table and even eating on top of a table with a guest. Really sad to see this place go down so much. we are from out of town. someone told us to go to t johnny's on the river said it was a very good place to eat. we all ordered hamburgers because we were told that they were delicious. they were not bad but they were not as juicy as we're used to being from new orleans in baton rouge. we ordered coffee and when the lady came around to ask if we needed a refill my family said yes. when the bill came we were charged every time we got a refill for the coffee. we asked the lady and she said yes every time you get a refill you pay the same price as a cup of coffee. this is ridiculous we have been to very nice restaurants in new orleans and baton rouge we've gotten coffee and i've never heard of being charged the same price for a refill. we love coffee and i don't think that we'll be going back anytime soon. read more

Came for lunch because I heard it was really good. We were so disappointed. I got a ceaser salad and was surprised it was made with iceberg lettuce not romaine. Had to pick out the slimy pieces. The fish was so unseasoned. The burger tasted like the patty had been sitting out for hours; there was more bun than patty. Beignets were hollow and fried to a crisp. This is a hidden little gem just north of downtown with great food! We ordered the Loaded Bloody Mary, House Salad (larger than standard with a lot of fixings), Bowl of Gumbo, and the Redfish Orleans. Everything was seasoned wonderfully. Staff was very welcoming. read more
