Those in the know aren't too keen to let out the secret either, as this is one of the best Thai restaurants on offer in Fortitude Valley. On holiday in Thailand earlier this year, I was impressed by how authentic the meals at Thai on Brunswick actually are. The Gang Panang is the winner on the menu for me, with the Gang Massaman a close second. Most meals can be adapted for vegetarians. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Inside can get a little loud on a busy night, so outside is my seating of choice, especially when dining with a group. Check out the specials board inside for something a little different. The icing on the cake is the fact that nothing on the menu exceeds $20 and you can BYO bottled wine. Nothing beats it for delicious, cheap, and cheerful Thai, and if you're having a bad hair day, you can even get orders over $35 delivered to you at home.

So that's how dinner went at Thai on Brunswick. And I was pretty impressed. We started off with chicken satays, golden bags and spring rolls which reached our table at a pretty speedy pace (it was a Friday night, there were plenty of take away orders, but only several other tables surrounding us). There wasn't much waiting time between the clearing of plates before the mains arrived either. The massaman curry itself was perfectly sweet, and the beef was so meltingly tender it literally splintered when pierced by cutlery. The accompanying coconut rice was subtly sweet, and coloured with saffron. Unfortunately, the downside of dining with a group means that you have to share, so I generously sacrificed my sumptuous curry for a smattering of pad Thai, cashew chicken and beef curry. Each was pretty tasty, so I was more than happy to share. This place is BYO, though be aware it is wine only (one of our party brought along a six-pack and the waiter informed him of this, but stored it in the fridge for him). Overall, it was a tasty meal and pretty light on the wallet - most menu items are in the $14 range.

Cheap, Pan Asian cuisine in generous portions and ready quickly. I wouldn't eat there unless you enjoy exhaust fumes with your meal. The menu is lengthy and includes all kinds of noodle dishes and other Asian dishes. The cuisine of origin varies so it's basically your generic Asian takeaway.
