Turns out she was right - food was really tasty, the dishes have been slightly Australianised ;) but the meal was excellent! My friend raved about the honey prawns and rainbow beef - they were both good dishes! Generous sized portions and the service was attentive. A nice family atmosphere and the night we dined the restaurant was busy. Since then I have been back in a large group of 20 with the girls and they offer a set menu for $35 which was served quickly without fuss in the upstairs room which impressed me. Fellow Asians may question the $ as it is a little more than we are used to paying but I say for the location - its one of the best Chinese in the area.
