It's been awhile since I have been here because of my busy travel schedule, so I figured today was the day to visit it again while I was nearby. I ordered two pizza slices with some veggies added (their slice pizza is always just cheese pizza that they add toppings to as requested. They don't have slice pizza already made with any toppings like many other places do, which is fine by me). I looked forward to eat nice, crisp, hot pizza with veggies added. Instead I was disappointed by the slices having added melted "mozzarella" on the slices. I didn't ask for or want extra cheese. I just wanted a couple of slices of normal cheese pizza with some veggies added on top. I refused the "heart attack waiting to happen" pizza slices. They were replaced by two slices the way I asked for them - cheese slices with veggies, not extra cheese. The server told me they "always add a little extra cheese on the top." But no where is that stated on the menu or when ordering. I also ordered 2 meatballs with sauce, an antipasto salad and the garlic bread it came with, but with just red wine vinegar, not any of the oil based vinaigrette, ranch, etc. dressings they offer. What I got was garlic bread and sliced meatballs in sauce, covered with guess what? "Mozzarella" cheese I didn't ask for and is not stated on the menu. The garlic bread was an oily mess because the cheese melted into its oily state and the only garlic they use is in the bitter I was told. No actual garlic on the bread was visible or tasted. The meatballs were sliced and covered with the gobs of melted mozzarella cheese too. What's with the fascination with adding cheese to melt on everything? The "mozzarella" cheese has no distinguishable taste, nor does the provolone in the antipasto. Possibly lower cost from the supplier so lower quality results. Have these folks heard some people prefer living life a bit more by watching calories and fat intake? We can actually do that by limiting the intake of bad stuff but still enjoy all types of food in moderation. I gave 2 stars because the pizza and antipasto are good or okay and the server was nice as well. But the fascination with melted cheese on everything and not saying it on the menu or checking with the customer first is not only unhealthy for people but wasteful and unwise when customers either return the food for replacement or simply eat it and never come back. I'm mostly vegetarian (technically a flexitarian) and enjoy Italian food which fits into that food lifestyle.
