His bedside manner was combative and stressful. He definitely has that physician God complex thing going and did not allow me to be an actual participant in an interactive discussion on my health. His chart notes were, well, odd. 90% of it was a drawn out depression survey and a discussion on the small talk I made about my work. He also never called me to discuss the results of my bloodwork like his staff said he would. One and done with Dr. Summers, I have since transferred.

This Doctor is a joke to medical professionals everywhere. To start, if you give him a bad review,…read morehe is quick to reply in a super snarky and inappropriate manner, telling you why your review is wrong in his eyes. I "liked" a comment someone had left reviewing him on Facebook at the beginning of seeing him, and at my next appointment, he called me into his office, showed me where I had liked a bad rating someone else had left, and asked me to "unlike" it. Who does that? He never keeps appointment times and feels it's appropriate to call you for your 1 pm telehealth appointment at 7 pm at night hoping you won't answer so he can mark you down as a "no show." I've also never had a doctor charge a $10 "convenience fee" when you call in to have your medications refilled. When I finally found a GYN to diagnose me after years of being miserable and getting me the surgery I needed that ended up saving my life, Dr. Hong got mad at me and accused me of "going to other doctors and having surgeries behind his back." Did I mention he's the one who recommended to the GYN who got me help in the first place? I had endometriosis so severely it was taking over my body, causing all of my issues. Don't even bother getting the office to fax any type of medical records anywhere in a timely manner, if even at all. They also love to tell you they "never got the fax" when I have other specialists send him records. I finally had to start bringing in hard copies of my records for him to even acknowledge they existed. He has ZERO bedside manner and no regard for his patients feelings at all. If you tell him you don't want to take the high dosages of pills he loves prescribing you for everything, and you are taking a smaller dosage instead, he accuses you of being a drug abuser. In my over 5 years of abuse from him, I was never actually examined in an actual examination room. All appointments were held in his personal office, where he barely used a stethoscope to examine you! It was always "what do you want now" instead of what can we try next. I stayed with him for so long because some days, he would be helpful, and I would just brush off his bad attitude on a bad day. When he couldn't diagnose me himself...I became a patient not worth his time. He wasn't even going to tell me he kicked me out of his office. I called to check on medications, and his wife answered the phone with, "Dr. Hong wants you to find a new doctor, have a nice day!" *click* No explanation. No warning. Just putting a chronically ill patient on my own.

He spent an…read morehour with me reviewing my past medical history, discussing my previous pregnancy and reviewing my medical records in detail. He was so thorough! He told me things about my medical history I didn't even know about myself... and I am a clinician. He is sincere, easy to talk to and an excellent listener. Each visit he gave me adequate time to address my questions. My delivery went very well. Under his care I was informed, valued as a person and cared for as if I were his own daughter delivering. In healthcare we measure providers by their outcomes (which by the way his are excellent), but often we do not measure providers by other things that truly matter. Eg. genuine respect and adoration of hospital staff and being voted among his peers and hospital leadership to be the chief of L&D/Obstetrics. The majority of his office staff working alongside him for the better part of 15 years. The praise he extends to the care team after a successful delivery that increases their satisfaction and retention at Missouri Baptist. I now have a happy and healthy 7-month-old. I am certainly delinquent in writing this review, but I thought better late than never. I would want to know about these things about my doctor. Thank you Dr. Weinstein. You are forever apart of our family's story, we couldn't be more grateful!
