Our 3.5 yr old and 9 mo old had a great time here. The providers were beyond amazing and the place had so much for them to do while we rode the mountain. They had crafts for our toddler to do each day and he was so happy with the bracelet he made during his stay. He also loved the play rock climbing area. Drop off and pickup was easy as there is a 30 min loading zone outside as well. They also cover lunch and do naps. Pickup after ski School was also available which was nice. We used Mammoth Mountains childcare for our 19 month old on a family trip back in March for two days. We were a little hesitant after reading initial reviews here on Yelp, but ended up more than happy with the experience. There are two rooms, one for newborn to 2 years, and the other for 2 years and up. The "big kid" room had several kids actively playing and being kids. There were craft tables, indoor playsets for climbing and such, and the staff were engaged and in the space with the kids. All in all it looked like everyone was having fun both in the morning and afternoon. The "little kid" room is smaller, but had the same type of set up with playhouses, easels, mats, and playthings suitable for that age range. There were only a couple of kids in there with our guy, and they had their own dedicated caregiver. We had the option of providing our own food but opted for the provided meal both days. The biggest factor in our satisfaction was 1) the interaction with staff. They were friendly but more importantly I was happy that they were playing with the kids. And 2) our little guy was happy going in both mornings heading straight in to something fun to play with and happily playing when we picked him up each afternoon. Drop off is painless, just a little paperwork and a brief chat (our guy low maintenance), and the location directly adjacent to the village gondola and next door to the Side Door restaurant can't be beat. read more

Last winter, we left our 8 week old and 2 year old daughters here for a full day. I knew that the 2 year old would do great, but had a hard time leaving our little baby. The staff was very friendly and energetic, and check-in was painless. Our 2 year old had a blast, and our 8 week old did great. We also were given a full report of the baby's eating and sleeping schedule for the day, which I really appreciated. We loved our experience so much that we booked another trip in March! This year our three year old will be able to get snowboard lessons, too. So, we are all stoked! I saw some really bad reviews, so I wanted to give some love because we had such a great experience. It looks like the staff really used the critiques to better their business. We can't wait to come visit again! read more

Our 10 month old was there for 7 hours and they hadn't fed her anything. When we asked if she got any food at all during the day, the staff said they didn't think so. All of the milk bottles that we left for her were still full. I don't know what is worse, knowing that she didn't eat anything and doing nothing about it, or having no idea whether or not a 10 month old has had any food all day. We asked how she was all day, the staff said "pretty upset the whole time." That's because she was STARVING!! So they basically starved her for the 7 hours she was there?! She was exhausted and upset when we picked her up. Highly doubt she got any sleep or any attention while she was there. I am not sure where the bar should be set for a seasonal daycare run by inexperienced staff, but this was REALLY disappointing and we will never be coming back again. read more

My two year old is usually pretty hesitant and resistant to new people and new faces. Usually takes him a little while to adjust. Just did two days at childcare in the Village and he loved it. Staff was amazing, the facility is cute and clean. Open atmosphere and right next to The gondola. When I dropped him off day two he ran in to play and didn't even care to say goodbye. Staff respected and listened to my sons dietary restrictions and they actually got him to take a good nap. They take the kids up the gondola and let them play. They have crafts and toys. My son couldn't stop talking about the fun he had. Would highly recommend. read more

We have used Mammoth Child Care twice now in age group 0-24 months. Improvements are in order for how parents report their baby's daily routine and and how staff reports back to parents about child's day. With the high price for child care that we paid, I expect better service. I want a quick drop off and pick up so I can get on the mountain. A report card should be given at the end of the day without me having to stand there and ask 20 questions while my child is wanting my undivided attention after being apart from me for the entire day. Not to mention the care takers are busy with other kids so they don't have a ton of time to spend with you. The same sort of report card can be completed by parents at drop off instead of having to stand and answer the care takers questions. The questions are standard so it wouldn't be hard for parents to complete the questionnaire on their own. Main Lodge - Space seemed dark, stuffy and hot. The nap area was not completely closed off so my little guy couldn't take a good nap due to hearing other crying babies during nap time. Village - Location is much better vs. Main Lodge especially if you are staying in town or near the village. Easy access to gondola after dropping off the little one. Crib nap area is enclosed so it blocks sounds from others. I wish there was another day care in Mammoth that was more affordable. But if I must pay the high resort child care rate then I expect better service. My baby was perfectly fine each time we've used the service, but I deserve to know what went on during the day. read more

After 3 days of childcare at this facility my daughter came home with a virus. We are now on day six of vomiting and diarrhoea. This ruined our ski holiday!They also fed her chicken in spite of the fact that I provided lunch for her because we are vegetarian/ pescatarian. We were told they normally ask about dietary requirements but not this time! The sign in form did not cover this scenario. The check in was so rushed and unprofessional. Kara was apologetic and I appreciate that but the facts still remain the same. This virus is very contagious and now I have it too! read more

This review is for the infant area, can not give an opinion on the older ages. The infant area was just OK. The staff was a little remiss when it came to comforting crying babies. They also seemed to be pawning unwanted duties (like diaper changing onto each other). My 9 month old did a full day but I went in the middle to breast feed him. He was screaming when I picked him up and it seemed like they had just left him in the crib crying. And again at the end of the day, they were like " he's awake but we haven't gotten him yet" awake and screaming his head off. I was less than impressed. Another mom was picking up her child and they mentioned that he cried a lot too especially at nap time and as she gathered her stuff, they were like "what's this thing?" And she was like this is the thing I gave you specific instructions on how to use when I left him in your care. I tried this service again when he was 11 months old and had similar results. He spent the majority of the day crying and they asked me to pick him up early. I asked if they had been able to spend time holding him and comforting him but they said they just don't have time. It wasn't the first time he had been left with a child care giver but this place is just really over run and many of the kids are sick (like snot streaming from their noses) and they don't seem to have a policy to turn those kids away. I wouldn't recommend unless you NEED a day on the mountain and your child is pretty self sufficient. read more

If we're just talking the childcare itself, it was great--the staff was friendly and energetic, and the building itself was clean, new and well maintained. However, I think the check in and check out process could use a lot of work. It's very disorganized and honestly I have NO idea what my kid actually did there during the day (what time did she nap? What did she eat? Etc) which would have been helpful Info. Also, I'm not sure if she had one person assigned to her or not, but if so, I should have checked in/out with that person, not someone random. Unfortunately we also left two of her items there on her last day because the staff didn't give them back to us when we went to check out. And when I called to try to get them back once I realized they were missing (once we were all the way back home), they told me they could mail them but it would cost practically what they were worth. It just seems to me if you're having people coming in and out all the time for brief periods you should have a more organized system for keeping track of belongings and for the check in/check out process. For the amount it costed, it would have been nice if they offered to send our stuff back to us for free: However, I definitely felt secure leaving our daughter with them all day to get in some great ski time, which is obviously the most important thing, and worth way more than some missing items! read more

At the end of the day I think my 2 year old son had fun, but I was not impressed by the staff. They seemed to just be a bunch of girls who knew nothing about caring for toddlers. When we went to pick up our son there were 4 toddlers standing in the middle of the room crying and no one was doing anything to help them. One staff person finally came over to a child and told her to stop crying - as if a 2 year old was going to stop based on the request. When working with toddlers you need to be upbeat and energetic and work to distract the kids to fun activities so that they have fun and stop crying for their parents. The staff did nothing to distract the kids. The place was new and clean. There were lots if fun toys to play with. They took the kids out for a gondola ride and to play in the snow. It would just be nice if they hired staff who were better qualified to care for toddlers. read more

We had a great first time experience with Mammoth Child Care in the Village. We visited Mammoth for the wine weekend and had not initially considered leaving my children with strangers. However after taking a look around and chatting with the staff, I felt comfortable with leaving my boys, ages 3 and 7, at the center. The wine tasting was a lot of fun and the kids had a blast too. They even ate dinner there! I would recommend the child care if you are attending and adults only type event and want your kids to be safe and near by. read more

We planned a last minute weekend getaway to Mammoth Mountain and one of the big factors in our decision was whether or not there would be a good daycare facility for our young toddler. Mammoth resort has a well-regarded daycare facility at its Main Lodge that's been around for decades and they were just opening up a new facility in the Village on the 12/15/2012. We were planning on staying in the Village, and although it was a brand new facility (we were going on opening weekend!) and we had never left our boy at a drop-off facility before, we relied on the positive reviews of the original facilities in hopes that they would be able to replicate the same environment in their new facility. We're so glad we did! The facility, which is located in the Lincoln building of The Village Lodge Resort was spacious, airy and spotless. It's open from 830A-430P and located right next to the Gondola to Canyon Lodge which means its super easy to drop of kid(s) and head straight to the mountains. All the caretakers were warm, friendly, and seemed great with all the kids. They have a large, bright and open room for kids 2 and older and a smaller back room for children 2 and under. They provide the meals and snacks for the infant room (I assume for the older kids as well) but we opted to provide our own food for our boy, as well as sheets for his crib/cot for nap time. Allie, the kind woman who watched the babies was lovely and took great care of our boy. She even took the little ones out for a stroller ride around the Village. Our boy was happy and well-taken care and Mom and Dad got two good days of snowboarding in! When we head back to Mammoth, we will definitely leave our boy in the capable hands of this facility again. read more

We have used this daycare for 11 days over 3 trips, at ages 8 months, 10 months and 20 months. It is very expensive but on par with cost of things at all ski resorts and it is very convenient. You can drop off early and pick up is at 4. We have had an excellent experience all 3 times and I have felt very comfortable with the care. I like that the caregivers were consistent throughout the week so they got to know him. He has napped well and eaten well, and the caregivers were careful to let me know about a concern that he may need to drink more water (based on dry diapers). He seemed happy when we picked him up and nothing I have seen has caused me concern. His naps seemed very early (for him) for the first couple of days so we asked if they would put him down later and they did. That was mainly so he was not as tired in the evening. I agree with other reviews that this facility should provide daily sheets to take home telling about your child's day, specifically when he napped, what he ate and when, diaper changes, etc. You can get this information by reading the sheet that they have there but it is hard to remember everything and easier just to get to get a take home sheet. If your child attends multiple days you can leave things there in bins such as diapers and change of clothes. We will definitely be back. Make sure to book early online, this place can sell out their spots during busy times. read more
