This is the 2nd annual festival and a 3 day festival. I only attended on Sunday. So what is this?…read moreIf you like yoga, meditation, stretching, acro yoga, slackline pr yoga music, then this is for you. You pick up your tickets at a booth in the village. That process is fast and easy. There are juice vendors, oils, clothing booths. Things you would not normally see from the large retail brands. There was live music, folk, electronic mixes that will keep you dancing. If you are really ambitious, you can take 7 or 8 yoga classes all in a day (Friday, Saturday) since some classes start at 6:30am and last class is at 9pm. I took a heart opener class with Laura burkhart at Hayden cabin and the instruction was top quality, we did all body stretches up to wheel, dancers pose and reverse camel. The scenery at Hayden's is second to none, located by a running creek as you stretch and meditate to the water, the nature and the rustic cabin. Then i did the SUP stand up paddle board class with karina Moore. Wow, what an experience I will never forget. Everything is harder on water but it was fun. My class had 9 people and we all laughed and enjoyed the challenge of some flow, modified warrior and even bridge and headstand. There were modifications for every level. All this was done facing souther ice pack, mountains and gorgeous eastern Sierra forest at tamarack. Last, we went to AcroYoga inversions class with Sam and Raquel. It was so unique as we broke into groups of 2 then 3 then 4, all taking turns and working together. Sam and Raquel demonstrates and explained techniques. Everyone was able to do something amazing, and if not with practice we will get there. How is this festival different? It's still new so the classes were small and intimate (the ones I chose). All the teachers were very inspiring and encouraging. Thank you to the organizers for creating this event and bringing yoga to more people, and the opportunity for all of us to come together and share our practice and community. Next year I will be back for sure for multiple days. Tip: some of the evens are spread far apart. Allow at least an hour travel time in between sessions for travel if google maps says 30 minutes. There are unforeseen changes such as road closures. If all your events are at the village lodge, Westin and shady rest park, you can rent the free electric scooter at footloose/wave rave for free, or hop on the free shuttle. Events at lake Mary (ended up at tamarack) and Hayden cabin requires

With 1 week notice, they cancel the festival for June 2024 and announce they are moving it to September. But when in September!? No word. Perhaps they will let us know 1 week before! Other weird stuff: The email announcing the postponement did not come from the MYF email account- it came from a Gmail account thatapparently is associated with a w33d greenhouse in Desert Hot Springs. What?? It also didn't mention the festival by name or provide any explanation. The email also contained multiple typos. Clearly they need new management to revive this festival with so much potential!

The owner and staff were super welcoming and walked us through all their offerings, which made the experience even better. We kicked things off with a cider flight--our favorites were Early Harvest and Graveyard. Early Harvest was simple, crisp, and just sweet enough, while Graveyard reminded me of a Scottish smoky cider aged in whiskey barrels. I do wish there were a few more sweet options overall and possibly a current up to date list of what's on tap somewhere online, but everything was well-crafted and flavorful! To cool off, we grabbed a cider slushy (highly recommend!) and wandered the property. We visited the goats, strolled through the apple trees, and made friends with their big fluffy Pyrenees who was living his best life napping in the shade. I picked up a bottle of Early Harvest and a t-shirt to bring back to DFW. It was the perfect stop--relaxed, local, and a great way to start the afternoon before heading into Yosemite. After our tasting, we walked through some of the apple trees, visited the cutest goats, and made friends with their big, lazy Pyrenees dog who was living his best life soaking up attention. I picked up a bottle of Early Harvest and a t-shirt to bring back to DFW--both worth it! Such a charming little spot--relaxed, scenic, and just the right detour before Yosemite!
