Distant has become among our favorites. The food is always delicious and large portions for the cost. The beer selection and sours never disappoint and the variety will keep you intrigued. The seating outside is nice around the barrels. We're not much of a couch eaters so eating with our kids is a challenge. Good beer and amazing food! One thing to note, if you plan on buying a beer glass, make sure you put it in your bag immediately after purchase. My husband bought a beer glass, and several times the staff tried taking it because they thought it was a used empty glass lol and we told them it was ours that we bought. Unfortunately, they succeeded, and we didn't notice until we left that they had taken it again. So sadly we left without our glass and the $6 we paid for it lol. :( But in any case, the beer is good and the food is phenomenal. Definitely recommend the chorizo nachos. They are absolutely a great size, great price and have so many delicious toppings and the best beer cheese I've had in a while. They're a good size for two people if you're looking for something to share! We definitely plan to come back here in the future (and hopefully get another beer glass lol). Distant Brewing has a fun, casual brewery vibe, but the food was a big miss for us. QUICK TAKE Get: Caesar wrap, burger, pizza Skip: Nachos Know: The food was very oily. Several dishes simply felt poorly executed, with some things undercooked, others overcooked, and an overall sense that not much care was going into the food coming out of the kitchen. We tried a good cross-section of the menu, and while a few things were decent, the meal overall was disappointing. Caesar Wrap: Probably the best thing we had. Simple, filling, and one of the few items I'd feel comfortable ordering again. Burger: Solid enough for brewery food and one of the safer choices, although nothing particularly memorable. Cheese Pizza: One of the better dishes at the table. Plenty of cheese and a substantial crust, although it still leaned heavy. Nachos: Easily the biggest miss. They looked impressive when they arrived, but the pile of meat, cheese, pico, jalapeños and guacamole ended up tasting greasy and frankly pretty unappetizing. The problem went beyond oiliness. Some of the food seemed not fully cooked, while other items were overcooked. Instead of feeling like hearty brewery food, much of it just tasted careless. There wasn't much balance or consistency from one dish to the next, and the whole meal had a somewhat lazy feel to it. Mane we ordered the wrong food? Beers are fine. Calzone was okay, 4/5, the dough is pizza dough and it's a good dough, honey pepperoni filling. Chicken tenders, 3/5, it's baked. Like maybe baking it to warm it up, I don't think it's fresh out the fryer. Bacon? Mac n cheese, 2/5, where is my bacon bites?? I can count them with my fingers. Was expecting more bacon than garnish. And it's not a spectacular Mac n cheese neither. Not sure about the burgers and other items, but based on the calzone, the pizzas should be dope. They do bring the food to your table. And we sat outside with our pup. Would come back for beer for sure but the food knocked down the overall rating. read more

What's awesome: This place is super dog-friendly, which is a huge plus. Dogs are welcome inside at the tables as well as on the outdoor patio, making it a great spot to hang out with your pup. The beer prices are also very reasonable. Also, the food was decent. What's not awesome: We visited at 8:30 p.m. on July 4th and the music was incredibly loud. It felt like they were going for more of a lounge or nightclub vibe, which made it way too hard to have a conversation. The service was also hit or miss. The man who took our order wasn't very friendly, although the woman with the gems on her face was fantastic--she was welcoming, efficient, and stood out in a positive way. The biggest issue was the ordering line. There was a long line at one register while a second register had little to no line. The male employees behind that register, specifically two guys chatting with each other, never made any effort to let people know they were available to take orders or help move the line along. Got food take away and it was relatively quick even during peak dinner around 6PM on a Saturday in summer. Before leaving I double checked my order and noticed the chip flavor was wrong; pointed it out at the counter and it was quickly remediated. Always check! What I liked: the beer I had ( IPA ), the large portions especially of the hummus. It was literally enough for about 6 people. I also liked the space outside and the people there. A lot of people had dogs and people tend to bond over their dogs. I don't get these places that don't allow dogs. Anyway I'm just glad they do here. Out of the breweries in mammoth this has to be my favorite. They have a few N/A beers (Athletic) and they have a variety of food items which are really good. I got the pretzels and chicken tenders which were both great. There is inside and outside seating and outside now has some shade sails. The staff is friendly and attentive. Very busy brewery in Mammoth Lakes and highly rated, so I stopped in after driving half a day to reach here to fill up my tank. The place was jammed pack with people at 6pm and definitely a lot of solo men in here, some couples, quite a few doggies, families. Seems everyone gathered here after a day on the mountain. Service was fast as you order at the bar and if you order food, you get a number and they bring the food to you. I had a mango light beer and half a margherita pizza. Beer was drinkable but couldn't really taste any mango accents. Pizza was also edible, but for me, the drizzled balsamic vinaigrette was not for me, but appreciated the fresh tomato and basil. Had a hazy and a wc, both were really well made. They had a local DJ running the music, vey good. A good crowd for the beer and music even though it was pretty loud. Would definitely try if staying in the Mammoth area - I like breweries so I normally stop by them whenever I can. read more

It's been 4 years since my last visit to Mammoth Lakes and Distant Brewing. I had my dog Frankie with me and sat outside because the inside was packed because of the USA vs Australia World Cup game. I enjoyed 2 pints of thier IPA and ordered food for the first time. I ordered a smashburger and boy was it delicious. It was one of the best smashburgers I have ever had. It wasn't that busy when we got there but ended up really busy, maybe they got behind in the kitchen. I had the smash burger and it's definitely NOT a smash burger but it was good. I thought I wrote a review for this brewery when I was in town a couple months ago. It's unfortunate my review doesn't reflect the potential of their beers. Let me preface my rating with the fact that the beers were great and that alone would have made it a 5 star place to visit. We shared 2 flights and also shared a couple of their cans from a local LIQ the day before. So the beers get a nod of approval. However, the service was awful. We sat at the bar and were enjoying our time and the first flight. But three things happened with the order of a second flight that ruined the whole experience. 1. Some drunk chick that used to work there was behind the bar and pouring herself a beer and it seemed inappropriate and she was annoying and acting like she owned the place. The actual workers did nothing/said nothing. 2. Some of the workers' friends or whoever (maybe that same drunk lady) completely surrounded us at the bar and invaded our peraonal space, everyone completely oblivious to us gets aggitated (or just not caring). They were really in tuned to talking over the bar to their friends though which added insult toninjury 3. There was an animal on the bar that everyone thought was so cute, but it is almost getting its tail in our drinks. So not only was it completely unprofessional but a health code violation. The workers still didnt seem to care. We went and sat outside to finish our last two samplers. They were clueless to the fact we left or why, which highlightes the customer service we experienced. read more

Had Petrol Problems (NZ cold IPA) and Sea to Summit (blonde ale). Both were nice and light, flavorful. Hit the spot. Service was friendly and quick. Seating was a little tight, but it was nice being outside. Found a table pretty quick. For food we had the smash burger (standard and kid size), pulled pork sandwich, and quesadilla. Pulled pork was great, cheese quesadilla was loaded but not greasy (seemed to be a whole wheat tortilla, which added nice depth). If I were to come again, I'd avoid the smash burger. It was the whole reason why we decided to come here, and it was a strange experience. The meat was falling apart, and overly seasoned with something I couldn't put a finger on. Was it even beef? It ate like a sloppy Joe turned into a. Smash burger. It had the consistency of dry scrambled eggs; makes me think it was perhaps a vegan patty. Hope it was a fluke. read more

This place has a lot of potential but didn't quite live up to what I had hoped. First off, the beer pouring. All the beers are poured where the beer is poured along the glass, which traps a bunch of air in the beer. Normally you start the pour along the glass and then tilt it so you get some foam which helps release those gasses. It made the beer hard to drink. Overall the beer was good but was surprised to see the beer poured like that at a brewery. The food was just okay. Pretty ordinary but decent. The hummus plate wasn't very good but the rest was okay. The servers were friendly and the set up is great with a nice patio with a lot of seating, dog friendly, and the indoor area looks cozy. But the beer and food were a little disappointing. read more

I've past by this place so many times during our visit to Mammoth and finally decided to come in for lunch. You order at the counter and they give you a number and the food is brought out to you. There are tables inside and outside with couches. There's also a pool table in the back. There was a stage all decked out with instruments. Not sure when they have live music, but they definitely create a nice cozy place to relax and enjoy some music with your beer. For their beers, I would probably give them 4-4.5 stars, but the low grade is due to their food. I ordered half a mushroom & sausage pizza and my wife ordered the tomato soup with grilled cheese. The food came out at an average speed, so that was a positive. The negatives is the food quality. The pizza tasted like it was from the frozen food section at Vons across the street. The dough was tough and hard like eating a cracker. The sausage had really good flavor though. But I can't recommend the pizza at all. The tomato soup was fine, but did give off the taste of being in a can. It had a tinny taste to it. The grilled cheese was not grilled long enough and I really wanted that cheese pull. I would come back for their beers, but make sure you don't come hungry. read more

The atmosphere in this place is phenomenal. Everyone was friendly and super chill, there were people sitting down for dinner, people at the bar grabbing drinks, some people outside enjoying the night air, people playing pool, but everyone was very respectful and cool. I had a tangerine beer and my date had a sea to summit and then we swapped because I didn't care for the tangerine and she didn't care for the honey flavor of hers. We had food; I had the pulled pork sandwich which was a little spicy but so delicious, and she had the tacos which were loaded with fresh ingredients and veggies, and some of the best steak I've had. Reasonably priced, great food, good beer, friendly people and good vibes, 10/10 I'd recommend this place to anyone in the Mammoth area, and I can't wait to go back. read more

The food was so good! We came in a couple days ago and loved it, so we came back! Everyone is incredibly kind and friendly, it felt like being at a family barbecue. Service was fast and in order.
