The website claims walk-ins are welcome, but that's completely false. You have to make an appointment because of COVID -- which isn't made clear anywhere. If you're not a Manatee County resident, they won't even let you register anything. They say it's listed on the website, but I didn't see it anywhere, not online or on the intercom. If you don't have an appointment, they send you to another tag agency where the AC doesn't work and the staff has an attitude. Honestly, it feels like only the upper class or certain people are welcome here. Very disappointing and unprofessional experience. read more

I went there to renew my plates in Florida. What a pleasant experience so much much different than in Missouri where they put you through a tortured channel for three hours. In Florida first time ever I've done this you go to a kiosk. You don't have any violations and all your taxes and things are paid. It takes about two minutes processing in the machine and it prints out your new registration and stickers. Allstate should be like this. read more

Had a 3:30 appt. Today, got there at 3:16 and had a 56 minute wait time with 14 people ahead of us and only 2 people working out of 6 stations. Absolute worst managed facility i have ever seen. read more

August 31st I had an incredibly positive and reassuring appointment at the Manatee County Tax Collector's office/ RMV. Sheila, who checked me in and Michelle who helped me navigate the "logistical hoops" of getting a new license, were amazingly thoughtful and consummately professional. They answered my questions and assisted me during the filling out an application. Both women are stellar ambassadors for the State of Florida as well as Manatee County employees. If, for some reason, I am required to return to the RMV, I will request working with Sheila and Michelle. read more

Worst dmv ever... due to covid, appointment only... but yet inside the dmv no one wears a mask(managers and guests), no social distancing, and yet still only appointment only for "covid". Get your lazy behinds to work and do y'all's job. read more

By far the most pleasant experience I've ever had a DMV. I was having some issues with the kiosk, so the gentleman working it attempted to correct the problem by calling Tallahassee to see what the issue was, & in the end. Just gave my a number to be seen. I can't remember the lady's name, but she was absolutely wonderful. & i was in & out in less than 10 mins after receiving my number. Keep up the good work!! read more

I have had to go to this office three times and each time was a pleasant experience including the time I made an appointment and couldn't get anything done. Very friendly knowledgeable employees. Registered my car after moving back from another state and was told "welcome home" as I was handed my new plate. Pretty awesome. read more

I had to go in to renew my license and Patty was the woman that I dealt with.. she was very pleasant she smiled laughed and was very thorough.. this is very unlike any experience I've been to at DMV so thank you Patty for being such an amazing person and for the great experience considering we all dread coming to the DMV now I have changed my mind about that place.. read more

A specialist named Jenifer was extremely pleasant and helpful even though my request was a simple one and only costs $3, I appreciated the care she took and interest in seeing I got exactly what I needed. I've used the North River Ellenton office at least four times for driver's license renewal and vehicle registration. Always excellent service and friendly staff. In January 2017 I renewed a van registration and was back out to my car so fast that Mrs. Nibbler thought I forgot some paperwork. (-: Thank you for being so efficient Kristy! Update January 2018 - A complicated transaction with the sale of a vehicle from and estate, and transfer to new owner. Got Kristy again and she made the whole process smooth as silk. This office processes car registrations, renewals and title transfers for new Florida residents or current residents who need to register their car. Make an appointment and get a coupon for a free car wash when you show up for your appointment. I did not have an appointment today and the lobby was pretty full. I did not expect to be getting out any time soon, but surprisingly, my number was called right away and I was able to visit an open window within 5 minutes of walking in. I think the reception desk assigns walk in numbers according to how lengthy your situation might be, so I think I got a 'fast' number to get in and out because my visit was just to renew my car registration in person. It was quick and painless, in and out and got everything I needed in 10 minutes. Yippee! I was impressed with how quickly it went and how easy it was. I would suggest looking online first to see what documents you might need for your visit. If you are renewing a license or changing your license from another state, you may be in for disappointment if you don't bring the proper documents with you. They also don't take credit cards so bring cash, debit card or your personal check. Just a note, if you are trying to get a new driver's license, that is going to be a different DMV office (again, look online on their website prior to visiting). The best DMV I have ever dealt with in 5 different states & we needed up with 3 customer service reps for reasons beyond their control & everyone was super friendly, super professional & as quick as they humanly could be...... Has ANYONE ever got through via phone? This is a joke!! Customer service sucks. Sarasota, Pinellas & DeSoto Tax collectors are much more helpful. They keep referring you to the website. Elderly are not so computer savvy. They offer no help without an appointment, only way to make an appointment is via the web site. Nothing can be done via phone. This place royally sucks!!! read more

Are you kidding me? This was our second visit. The first was to transfer our driver's licenses from our previous state to Florida. Easy, right? Had the appointment, seen immediately... then it went downhill. An hour and a half later, we had our licenses and car registration... a full hour and a half, and we brought every piece of paper necessary with us. The processor was a trainee and had to "start over" numerous times. The processors around us did an average of 6 to 8 transactions while we were there. Bad luck for us. Fast forward 2 weeks. We brought in our title for transfer. Another trainee. 55 minutes to transfer our title...because the trainee didn't know how to do it and wouldn't ask for help. Frustrating, to put it mildly. Everyone was very nice, but if you can't do your job, please ask for help! The customer should not have to suffer because the excuse is "trainee". read more
