Graduation with 300+ people no A/C in Florida, no sound, no music, microphones on the lowest volume, chairs touching one another, not even one inch distance between chairs, no ventilation - the amount we pay for this school it is disgraceful how they treat students and parents, even one night in the year they could not rise up!!! They call it college, they need to learn what that means and how to educate everyone to speak so they could be heard/room size volume/ventilation in facilities and restrooms, and staff that cares for money we paid them to do their educational act not to spread the ignorance. The absolute worst and most unprofessional system that I have seen. Knowingly taking an accepting applications for fire EMT way past the 30 student cut off for the class. Makes you get a physical that only months in the state of Florida makes you get shots and vaccinated. Only to say you did not get accepted into the program after spending hundreds of dollars on the checklist. This college still continues to accept applications and take people's money way past the class being full. Terrible communication. To ask people to get vaccinated for a program that they have not even been accepted in yet is totally inappropriate. Taking peoples money, knowing that they are going to have to let multiple people down. Totally unacceptable a horrible process and very low, educated people that can barely answer questions about the program. If you are applying for fire EMT at this technical college, please be prepared to be let down to get vaccinated when not needed and to be stolen from when it comes to all the money you spend for them to say you didn't get in because you weren't part of the first 30. This school should be as ashamed. Stop accepting application applications if you already have 30 applicants. And stop having people get vaccinated before they even accepted into your program. Sarasota does not have the same checklist and more professional and you if the class is full before you apply. And a physical and vaccinations are not required until after you are accepted into the program and already in the process of doing the program. MTC you are a disgrace. read more

spent time applying and took weeks to hear back. spent money and time on the required items they give you to complete only for them to say the class is full from last years applicants. I was told maybe next year. most of us dont have the time or money to wait a full year. if they knew the class was full they should have not taken on new applicant. because the lack of communication I missed my window to apply to another school for the same program. if you want to apply to a trade school I dont recommend MTC but this is based on my experience. read more

This was probably one of the worst schooling experiences I've ever had to endure. For starters, I payed way too much to be sat in a chair all day and just learn from a computer, honestly, if anyone reading this want to take CSIT at this school, I'd highly recommend that you go to an actual college like USF for a better experience, especially if you are an adult and conduct yourself as an adult. You can save yourself a couple thousand dollars by getting the course online and using other resources to learn from. Unfortunately, this schools staff see's a problem, and imposes new rules at their whim for you to follow with the thought that disobedience could mean receiving a referral, to potentially getting dropped from the course with no refund. The testing center is also in the worst possible location for a completely silent testing experience, that being in the very beginning of the a hallway. The school is completely underinvested in any soundproof technology to even midgait the noise that is made just from people walking in said hallway. My class is down that same hallway, and instead of investing in the school to make their testing center better or relocating, they decide to inconvenience us paying customers to have to walk in a completely opposite direction, down a set of back stairs, just to get to the main area of the school. With that in mind, the schools policy is very strict on time, if your late even by one minute, there may be some form of consequence; so taking this "long way around" takes away minutes from my lunch period, making it a difficult time to get to 1 of 3 microwaves, where there is usually a line of students from other programs that heat up their food, so you could waste up to 10-15 minutes just trying to eat, and you only get 30 minutes in total. Hope you don't get severely sick or worse end up in a hospital for whatever reason, because the are "No Excuses" at MTC, and missing a certain amount of hours will lead to you being dropped from the course with no refund or anyway to explain your absence. Come to MTC and be treated like a child! This may or may not be the only course that has issues, either way, I would go back in time and have saved my money if I could. read more

Terribly run school. The staff is not helpful and frankly quite rude. The woman working the bookstore Adria has some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Also, as a student my experience was awful. The only positive thing was this school was close to home. I do not recommend. read more

This was actually a car show but with 4 food trucks. The cars were cool. Lots of vets and mustangs. A couple of Nissan Spec V's tricked out. Kind of reminds me when the Datsun B210 was supped up by people. The food trucks were fine and part of the suncoast group of trucks. I had some of the sliders. The asian pulled pork was good, but I would love an extra shot of shirachi in there. The brats were an odd Asian style sausage, which was good, but could use a spicy mustard. Maybe even some wasabi might be nice. The interesting one that I want to try again was a prosciutto panni with horseradish and asparagus. An interesting set of flavors. Worked nicely. Tried a fancy pop cycle from another wago. Should have gone with the carmel and salt but tried a bannan raspberry pineapple. Kind of like a smoothy on a stick. One one hand, didn't rock my world. But you know what? Who thought I could walk to something with food trucks at it down in the wilds of east manatee. Got to give them credit for that. read more

My daughter took the Pharmacy program and graduated. I was disappointed the school didn't have a job placement program set up. She loved the teacher. It is intense program. 4 days a week and tons of homework. She went on many internships with Walgreens but was not offered a job due to it was seasonal! I wish someone had told us this career field was seasonal she never would have taken it. At my job - I hired someone out of MTC for Billing/Coding- she also had no experience from the school. I had to train her from nothing. She liked the school but was also disappointed the school didn't help her find a job. There should be a Job placement center. MTC needs a relationship with the local business's that will hire there students out of college. On the good notes - the school is very affordable. Administration staff were OK. Bookstore staff were nasty people to deal with. read more

The administration staff have zero clue what they're doing. In the course of a week they lost and found my paperwork for financial aid 3 times. The dropped me and re added me to my class twice in a week. When I wanted to drop myself so I could switch to another school they refused to call me back until the day after the last day for refunds. When you try to contact them they'll just ignore your calls or simply talk over you. At this point I could get a better education off YouTube. read more

I am student in Dr. Michael Afanasiev's class Spring Semester 2016. I wanted to take a few moments to express my gratitude towards Dr. Michael and the administration of MTC. The HVAC program is absolutely superb and contains a wealth of knowledge and understanding that I didn't believe I could possibly reach when I first enrolled in the Fall of 2015. Though the material that is covered is pretty vast, especially for someone like myself who lacks any basic technical skills, Dr. Michael guides us in understanding with professionalism and ease. Looking back on the last few months, its hard to believe the extent of material we have covered. From day one, Dr. Michael set forth expectations for his students including flawless note-taking, organization, structure, review and hands-on training. Myself, being out of a classroom setting for nearly 10years, saw this quite a daunting task and habit to get into. Little did I know that in a few short months I could effectively regurgitate full information about the refrigeration cycle, and its components that maintain a such a vast and complex system. I thoroughly believe without the discipline and stringent expectations set forth, I would not feel this way and my place in this program would be in question. In the time since I have enrolled, I have confidently used my skills learned in Dr. Michael's classroom to save myself service calls for both electrical and A/C problems at my home and at least one friend of mine. We are currently a couple weeks away from an Electrical Assistance Certification, that through Dr. Michael's instruction, I am very much prepared to complete and earn. This is exactly the self-confidence I was looking for when I first enrolled at MTC. The program is not without its challenges though. The wealth of material can lead to frustration and confusion to grasp the material. I learned very quickly that I needed to heed my instructors advice and review material almost daily. I admit, reluctantly, that I am not a perfect student and don't heed his advice all the time. Though I can not speak for them, and I understand all students are different, I notice my peers do notice make it easy on our instructor sometimes and disrespect themselves by not following his expectations and in turn, get frustrated at him for their lack of understanding. I find this to be very disappointing, when all they have to do is TRY. When have spent ample time on all subjects and when we review, those that stay silent when requested to repeat for understanding do themselves injustice. This, however; is a small minority of students and does not represent the majority who I am sure share my appreciation for Dr. Michael and the vast theoretical knowledge he has instructed us on. As I finish up the first half of this program, I hope MTC understands that it has an instructor that can make an invaluable impact on it's students. I hope, using the knowledge I have gained, I will continue to be successful in this program and a prosperous career in HVAC. The knowledge I have learned, I share with family and friends on a daily basis. The stress of the course seems so small compared to the excitement I get on compliments from my peers after a built thermostat circuit, the pat on the back from family after a high test score or a handshake from Dr. Michael after a perfectly brazed copper pipe. All of which would not be possible without MTC and the instruction of Dr. Michael Afanasiev. Years from now, it is my sincere hope that I could continue to return to MTC and check in on the man that I credit with my new-found confidence, work ethic and respect for instruction. read more

I took the electrical course at MTC in 2014. I would not recommend this school to anyone. The school administrators are unprofessional and lose paperwork constantly. The electrical instructor Peter Shea is insulting, racist and does not teach. Most of my instruction came from watching YouTube videos as the teacher said it wasn't his job to answer questions. You would be better off taking online courses or going to another school. read more

I just got a great haircut for $5 at the Cosmetology Clinic at Manatee Technical College. I usually have to spend around $30 for a cut that I don't like as much as the one I got. The Cosmo Clinic really helped me out because I have a lot of senior expenses at Southeast High School, and sometimes a girl just needs money for Starbucks. I am smiling big because my hair looks great AND i saved so much money! :-) read more
