I arrived 20 minutes after the doors opened to find the line up out the door on the porch, in the rain. Guess everyone also thought going early would be the trick. Needless to say I forgot my umbrella, so waited about 10 minutes in my car. Lo and behold no one was outside anymore. Went in to see the line curved around inside the small vestibule, but I was dry! Really wasn't up for a frizzy curl day. There are four "windows" at the back of the main room, though the fourth is dedicated for those doing driving tests. That said, one staff member was going along the line to the speed things up and she would occasionally take someone to that extra counter. She also checked to make sure people had the correct documentation for Real ID applications. Seems some don't get the concept of "2 pieces of identification" in order to apply. They got bumped out and the rest of us shifted forward. Good thing no one had a tantrum - State Police offices are at the rear lower level of the building. When my turn came, I was very ably and cheerfully assisted by a young lady. Missed getting her name. Seemed like no more than 5 minutes to do vision test, picture (the damnable frizzies did show up - bleurgh!), call to Concord to verify my green card status and print out a temp license; 30 minutes all told. I…read moreemailed the Manse's Pierce Brigade (their volunteer group) to see if they could offer a tour for the day after Thanksgiving. They put it together and brought our group of four on a very in-depth tour. You will learn so much about NH's only president, about society at the time of Pierce's life and presidency, and what local homes were like in that era. Our volunteer was able to answer every question that we lobbed her way, even on things not directly related to the Pierces. Bonus: you can see the dress that Pierce wore as a child. My one quibble was that our tour guide seemed to dismiss our personal anecdotes that we offered that connected with what we were seeing, which was disappointing as I used to be a docent at a presidential library, and learned the most from people on my tours. She also was very short with me when she saw me taking some photos (non-flash!), but she hadn't told me that it was not allowed. Apparently there was a sign in the lobby but I hadn't seen it. Overall, totally worth spending an hour while you're in New Hampshire to learn some history!

What a great museum about probably one of the least well known presidents our country has ever had…read more Sadly remembered as one of the worst presidents (if he is remembered at all) - mostly because of the Kansas-Nebraska Act -President Pierce actually had some rather great accomplishments during his tenure. To be honest, I knew almost nothing about Franklin Pierce when we went here and expected to be in the museum an hour or so......it is after all just a house he used to live in so how much could there be to see? Well, it was less about the house and more about what our docent offered us. She was so knowledgeable (sorry I have forgotten her name but she had a lovely Bostonian accent) and very happy to entertain our questions. We must have been there several hours soaking up all her knowledge and the stories she had to share. The Pierce's had quite a tragic family life. Having already lost one child in infancy and another as a toddler, Franklin Pierce began his presidency grief stricken by a tragic accident that took his older son's life. But, he had to deal with a country in turmoil and actually managed to accomplish quite a few positive things during his term. I was glad to come away from our visit with a much better understanding (and much more positive views) of our 14th President. I highly recommend this museum!

It bothers me to have to give this office one star…read more This office gave me misinformation when I applied for Social Security and also Medicare. As a result, I am penalized 20% annually on my Medicare and I get no Social Security payment at all. For the past three years I have been appealing the matter in person, by phone, and by mail but have been totally ignored. I was treated both unfairly and dishonestly. There is a window that opens into the waiting area, where a surly, armed guard glares at people waiting for their turn. The last time I was there, the clerk behind the window asked me for all my personal information in front of a room full of people.....so unprofessional and the perfect setting for identity theft. The office should be shut down in the public interest.

Their stance was since I don't pay the utility companies myself becksse im disabled living on a budget that I don't deserve to be able to drive. They are fining me 15-30$ everytime I park on my street yet leave others alone, they also said because I don't have a handicap plate then I'm not really disabled and am faking it even though I had emergency surgery scheduled a month ago and had to cancel it because my doc said me having to walk like that after getting a fusion will destroy his work so city of Nashua has made it so I have to keep crushing nerves ahd my spinal cord risking paralysis because I cannot get my surgery now due to their refusing to give me a parking permit. The worse part for me is having my pain and suffering laughed at and looked down upon and treated like I'm better off dead cuz I'm just a scumbag disabled person, treated like I don't deserve to even own a car. I didn't do this to myself, I was hit by three different drivers that were sleeping at the wheel and lost everything I worked very hard for in life.. then to be treated like I'm not even an insect on their windshield because I'm poor now just feels so damn low. I had to quit my job as well cuz I was trying to work part time but I cannot walk a half mile a day to get back and to my car. So in perspective even Nicole at the mayors office told me they would help and to hang on for a call... instead they never called but did decide to tack on more cash to the fines they know I already cannot afford. Also Nicole telling me that I'm not really disabled if I don't have a handicap plate and in essence saying I'm faking and saying that somehow if they give me a parking permit to park where I live then they'll have to give a permit to 87k people that ask.. I fail to see how 87k people are applying for a permit to Park on my small road where I live. Maybe I need to just sign over my ssdi check to the city of Nashua since they don't feel I deserve to eat, have a job, to get surgery to mend my l5 that's split into two pieces Crushing my spinal cord and nerve root ganglion from l3-s1 which is extremely painful but the city of Nashua has openly decided I shouldn't even get my medical care cuz I'm just a poor nobody and not an athlete which is apparent cuz of neighborhood I moved to cuz my father just died few months back and I had to help my mom sell the family home. THANKS CITY OF NASHUA FOR LITERALLY DECIDING TO KEEP ME FROM SURGERY THAT IS URGENT AND FORCING ME TO SELL MY CAR AND MAKE ME QUIT MY JOB CUZ TO THE CITY US DISABLED PEOPLE ARENT REALLY PEOPLE, we are just scumbags they get to decide our life path and even medical care.
