My cousin was pretty freaked out that he was gonna have to request another appt that was gonna take another 6 to 8 weeks and even longer. As the smart lady that I am, I told him that I'd take them the next day early morning for the appt and hopefully explain the situation and maybe the office will do it for them but not to get their hopes up because USCIS is usually " u miss it, schedule another one, see u next time". So, we went and when the lady called our number, we were so nervous that she was gonna say no, and she looked around the room and said "no problem, it's pretty early, not a lot of people yet, I can do both of u" . It was such a relief, and the lady there was so nice putting up with us with the translation from English to creole/creole to English. She was our angel that day, and we thank her from the bottom of our hearts from not sending us Bk for another appointment because these things could be so stressful and lengthy. I have…read moreonly been doing my own taxes for three years now and I've been audited and owed money for 2 out of 3 of those years, so it's been a very heavy financial burden and it's been emotionally and physically draining trying to run around and collect everything that the IRS is requesting and playing tag with paperwork as we dispute each others' math. Brenda gave me very clear and concise instructions on what I needed to do to get all this mess cleared up and even took the time out to look over my previous tax years for similar errors on my part. She went over and beyond the call of duty and the IRS (of all government agencies) needs more people like her. At the same time, when you call these folks, please don't take your frustrations out on them. It's hard because most of us feel the need to vent to/against someone, but working in customer service myself, I understand it's not their doing and Brenda made it clear on several occasions that she had no personal vested interest in whether I owed or not, but she was happy to help me figure out what I needed to submit to figure that out.

Considering the volume of people and stress that comes with that position, she handled herself with patience and professionalism the entire time. Unfortunately, my experience with the second employee was the complete opposite. The interaction came across as rude, dismissive, and unnecessarily condescending. At one point, I was even told that the birth certificate I provided "wasn't mine" -- despite the paperwork clearly showing otherwise once it was actually read. Unless my daughter was somehow born in 1981, I'm fairly certain I know which birth certificate belongs to me. I fully understand that customer-facing jobs can be exhausting, especially in state offices where employees deal with long lines and frustrated people all day. However, that does not excuse speaking down to people who are simply trying to complete a process. If another employee in the exact same environment can greet every person with kindness and a smile, then professionalism is clearly possible. Respectfully, if someone dislikes working with the public to the point where basic courtesy becomes difficult, customer service may not be the right position for them.

Today would have marked the conclusion of such for my son. Alas, they don't usually schedule the road test the same day as the computer exam. Ya know, up front - that's my only main complaint about NH's DMV (so far). Apparently, they're so short staffed or whatever...that they can't do as most states have and still do - road test same day, so long as the driver passes their general knowledge test. Pedantic lamenting aside, however, this place is....efficient enough. I mean, this isn't even remotely the first time I've been here. Come to think of it, I found it peculiar I had somehow never written a review for the NH DMV till now. Huh! So anyways, I actually first visited this place 3 years ago when I applied for my own state license. First thing of note is they do not print licenses here. They send away for the actual final copy which takes anywhere between 5 to 8 weeks to receive. Pretty ridiculous, if you ask me. It's 2024, yet we still can't find a more efficient way to quickly distribute licenses. Considering how much paperwork is required to even apply for one of these things, you'd think the distribution process would be stellar. I've met pigeons who deliver mail faster. *sigh* But, I digress. How would I improve this facility? Allow applicants to schedule both their general knowledge and road test for the same day ahead of time. Making folks inexorably visit this place TWICE just to complete a licensing process for a new driver makes NO sense! They even take the kid's photo for the license immediately after passing the knowledge test. At that point, they're like....75% of the way complete towards being a fully fledged licensed driver anyway. Do these people hate the O-Zone layer or something?! On some positive notes, the facility itself is well organized, clean, accessible, and easy enough to get to. I only wish licensing didn't take the length of time it takes for Mercury to orbit the sun. It's solely for that reason....that I must give the DMV of Nashua 3 eager teens impatiently awaiting receipt of their driver's license out of 5.

This was before I could get a number and sit down, even though there were plenty of chairs. Every other DMV office I have ever visited has given you a number upon arrival; you didn't have to wait in line to get one. It takes over a month to get an appointment, and that wasn't an option for me because I had lost my license. All five stations had vision testers, but only one station did vision tests. You had to undergo a vision test before you could get a number and take a seat. I am a senior and was uncomfortable standing for such a long time. Additionally, I couldn't read my book, and I was growing increasingly angry. Everyone else in line was angry, too. And it was unnecessary because the other four people could have done the vision tests when they were taking your money and photographing you. The manager should be fired.

I didn't have high hopes of getting through quickly when I needed to renew my driver's license. A…read morefriend had gone the day before in early afternoon and was waiting for about 90 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes after the doors opened to find the line up out the door on the porch, in the rain. Guess everyone also thought going early would be the trick. Needless to say I forgot my umbrella, so waited about 10 minutes in my car. Lo and behold no one was outside anymore. Went in to see the line curved around inside the small vestibule, but I was dry! Really wasn't up for a frizzy curl day. There are four "windows" at the back of the main room, though the fourth is dedicated for those doing driving tests. That said, one staff member was going along the line to the speed things up and she would occasionally take someone to that extra counter. She also checked to make sure people had the correct documentation for Real ID applications. Seems some don't get the concept of "2 pieces of identification" in order to apply. They got bumped out and the rest of us shifted forward. Good thing no one had a tantrum - State Police offices are at the rear lower level of the building. When my turn came, I was very ably and cheerfully assisted by a young lady. Missed getting her name. Seemed like no more than 5 minutes to do vision test, picture (the damnable frizzies did show up - bleurgh!), call to Concord to verify my green card status and print out a temp license; 30 minutes all told. I'm impressed!
