This morning I got up and when I turned on the shower I noticed the handle was a little harder to…read moreturn. I tried turning it off and it was stuck. The water was running and I had no way to turn it off. A little cursing happened and I went to the basement to turn off the water to the house. After a little bit of a search on 'ye ol' internet I found that our cartridge in our faucet handle went bad. It looked easy enough to do myself so I looked up some videos and found the instructions and got to work. The only hiccup? I needed a new cartridge to replace the broken one. I called Stadium Hardware and spoke to the very friendly Allison who patched me over to plumbing to make sure they had what I needed in stock. Paul helped me out and made sure he had the right item set aside for me. Back to Allison who ran my payment over the phone and I was in my car to pick up the item in minutes. I pulled up to the back and they loaded it in my trunk. Bing bang boom! I was off. And after a bit more cursing, a bit of sweating, and a few false starts our water was back on AND off. FYI -- The store is open to in store shoppers and masks are required. I'm very hardcore about my social distancing due to some vulnerable people in my family so I was really happy to have the curbside pick up option available. Thanks for your help, Stadium!

There are some projects that are larger, which require professionals. But dammit, some things I should be able to do myself, even if I lack the knowledge or the tools. But going to the big box home stores fills me with a sense of dread. They are overwhelmingly large, it's hard to find anyone who can help you, and the whole experience leaves me drained, dizzy, and nauseated. So I had what I considered a fairly clever idea. Why don't I just call the small, local, neighborhood hardware store, and see if they can help me solve my minor home repair and maintenance challenges? I'll confess that I called another store first before reaching out to Jack's. But it was at Jack's where I found the help, patience, and expertise that I so desperately needed! Project number one was removing the gunk from between brick pavers on my patio, filling them with silicone sand, and other spring yard maintenance. I had no tools beyond the phone in my hand. But Dan, on the other end of the line, walked me through the tools and equipment I would need. He told me the prices, took my order and payment over the phone, and had everything ready for a semi-contactless pick up! That went so well, I returned for project number two, replacing the window well covers that had cracked. Now I am the proud owner of my very first ratchet set! At least, I think that's what it was called. I thought I was going to need some power tool to do the job, and was prepared to drop a lot of money, but I walked out with a bill of about $30... and a Twinkie. Don't judge. It was for my daughter. Needless to say, I have no intention of ever setting foot again in one of those big box home stores. I have Jack's, and it's fantastic!

I needed a last minute data transfer from my computer that died before going on the road to deliver a load of supplies to the hurricane areas in N Carolina. As soon as Adam heard my mission, he said no worries he could have it done in a couple hours. Not only was my computer done, there were also boxes of supplies he had secured to add to our load! My laptop crashed in a way that was unrecoverable, so I brought it here after seeing the great…read morereviews. Next time I need a repair, I'll have to try somewhere else because this place is CRAZY expensive. I paid $150 just for them to figure out what the solution was. That fee is not applied to what you pay for the actual repair should you decide to have them fix it like it would at a car repair place; it's just $150 to have them tell you what's wrong. They then quoted me $250 to reinstall windows and fix a broken hinge. I was iffy but said yes partially due to the sunken cost of the diagnosis and mostly because they promised me they would be able to upgrade my laptop to Windows 11, which the laptop had been telling me was not possible. So this seemed somewhat worth it to me to have them do. I went to pick up the fixed laptop, and immediately noticed that they had to drill totally new screw holes into it to install the new hinge. It looks pretty bad, but I'm really not picky about aesthetics so I let it go. But then they started it up to show me it was working, and I cannot even explain how INCREDIBLY slow it was as they tried to use it. Like, Windows 98 was faster than this thing was running, and I had previously never had any speed issues with it. I said something along the lines of how disappointed I was that I had now spent $400 and honestly couldn't even realistically use the laptop anymore. They offered to just install Windows 10 again instead, but like I said, the main reason I decided to pay all that money was because they assured me they could upgrade it to Windows 11. So they ended up refunding me for the repairs (I'm still out the diagnosis fee) and wiped the laptop and gave it back to me. After going home and doing some research on my own, I was able to reinstall Windows 10 on my own in about a half hour for $10. I cannot believe they were going to charge me almost $200 to do that!!! My laptop is now working exactly as it did before, and I learned my lesson.
