We recently moved to Natick about 2 years ago, and Mandarin Cafe is one of the best chinese takeout in the area. I had never had a bad experiences or bad foods from them. You're basic American-Chinese fare, it can be hit or miss depending on how fresh your order is made. That being said....when it's fresh, and it often is because of how busy they are, Mandarin Cafe is absolutely delicious. Perfect mix of tasty spicy recipes and fresh vegetables, with all the bad-for-you greasy yummy appetizers. Definitely not a sit down eat-In place(though there a couple of tables), but perfect for take-out. I recommend it for easy neighborhood comfort food. Don't let the proprietor's curt manner and mean-sounding attitude fool you, she's really wonderful, hard working, and appreciates her customers and the community she feeds. Love this place! I recently smelled a coworkers lunch that had been delivered from Mandarin and asked him where the restaurant was located. About a day later, after a long few hours of fantasy football drafts, I ordered the honey bbq spareribs, fried rice and chicken fingers. It was all quite good, especially the honey bbq ribs DELISH! It was so good, I went again a few nights ago, this time trying the lo mein. It was perfect! This is definitely my new favorite place, so-so prices but wonderful quality! I rated it a 5 based on how it compares to other delivery places around Wellesley. Mandarin Cafe is more delivery and takeout rather than a sit down restaurant. This cafe has the best Peking Ravioli dumplings I have EVER had and the best sauce that comes with it. I also order the godly mandarin dumplings, crab rangoons, scallion pancakes, and tofu triangles. I seem to order more appetizers than i do full meals, so I can't really speak for the main dishes. Great place for late night take out and delivery! read more

This is a small but very busy place. On YELP when I made my order it told me it would be close to an hour when my order would be ready then about 5 minutes later it state it would be ready 11 minutes late at earliest. Since I live 10 minutes away I needed a decent time. I can't blame them for giving the long time they did not want me sitting there especially In Covid and neither did I want to wait. I actually left early and arrived 10 minutes early from the time the order was ready. When I walked in the door mine with about one of 4 other orders that was waiting at the front. I ordered a spicy orange chicken dish, A sweet and sour chicken, hot and soup also spareribs on the bone. All the items were there still warm as I got home. Most of the items tasted fresh with good flavor. The only two issues on 1 again I can't blame them in the Shrimp dish there were large cut onions which I could have done without as I'm not a fan of large pieces of onion but I did not mention . If they were a bit less and diced I might have tried to eat them but did avoid them. My real only complaint was about the Spareribs when I opened the bag I noticed they were mainly burnt and not very meaty. Being burnt lessen the amount of decent meat to eat however even if they had not been burnt for the price and pieces I would have expected more meat on the bone to eat which I've had at other places which this one did not live up to expectations. The spareribs of all the items I would not order again. With the shrimp not their fault as said I would look for another dish. Overall if I made the proper choices this may have been a 5 review but I can honestly only give it 4 stars if you were allow I would give 3.75 star rating. read more

I ordered sesame tofu and it was absolutely delicious! The sauce wasn't too salty or too thick, and it was a generous serving of tofu. For anyone who's going to order online and hasn't been here before--just FYI the dish didn't come with any vegetables or rice, it was just tofu in a takeout container. I love eating here. Always exceeds my expectations for good American Chinese food. Favorite food in town with vegetarian options. Their delivery is also fast and arrives hot every time. I always forget to order veggies/rice in addition to my meal (tofu) so I just asked for tofu and broccoli and the women taking my order nailed it (she asked if I wanted fried or regular and I just had her decide which would taste best). It was delicious. The tofu is cooked perfect. They are so sweet to my daughter, they go out of their way to talk to her and hand her fortune cookies when we dine-in. I'm also in love with their crab Rangoon's. They are so tasty, not greasy, and stuffed with lots of yummy filling. Service and quality of food is excellent every time. I've had a lot of their dishes prior to dietary changes and I always enjoyed it (sesame chicken, beef on a stick mmmmm etc). I had requested it without Celery through the online ordering system. Came with tons of celery. 0 stars for not listening to me ;) The dish itself was good. Plenty of food and a decent taste. The accompanying Hot and Sour soup was a nice addition - very tasty. The chicken wings were good but could have used another 30 seconds being cooked. Coworker got the beef lomein and peking ravioli. Delivery: stars are relative to other delivery choices. I've been trying different delivery options. I was pleasantly surprised by the low sodium pad thai and fried rice that I got. Usually American-Chinese is laden with oil and salt. I will make this my Natick place. Delivery ppl are always super sweet and this is the same. I think the only thing I can really say is that it tasted like food court Chinese to me. I ordered through Eat24 and it was here in a timely manner. The delivery guy was polite. I had General Gao's and crab rangoon. The General Gao's dinner came with your choice of rice (fried) and an appetizer (one beef teriyaki). As I said, the only real description I have for the General Gao's is mall food court. The sauce wasn't very flavorful, though the chicken was nicely crispy. The fried rice is the pale kind, not the brown kind. The beef teriyaki had little flavor and, while cooked through, not cooked long enough - if you like beef teriyaki, you'll understand what I mean. The crab rangoon were better than food court, which is the biggest reason this review gets 3 stars instead of 2. Not my favorite dough (a little flaky and sweeter than I like) but the filling was good. You can see the crab, though I didn't taste much of it over the cream cheese. I was a little surprised at the cost of the food, since it seemed to be $1-2 more than the other local places, and I don't know that it was worth it, though there was a lot of chicken in the General Gao's. Probably won't order again since I think there are better places that deliver, but it's not so bad that I'd never ever order again. If everything else was closed, this would be OK. read more

This Chinese food is fine. That's the best I can say for it. Not classy, not great, not wow. Ordered takeout for myself and fiancé, and while the portions were large, the food wasn't really what I was hoping for. Scallion pancakes were light, and flavorful, but over cooked and too hard. Orange Flavor Chicken was not nearly as spicy as it should have been, and rather over fried as well. Shredded Pork with Green Peppers and Onions was tasty, but not worth the price. We tried this for takeout first time last night during stay at home, and received fantastic fresh food with wonderfully distinct flavors. My daughter is gluten intolerant and did not get contaminated! They took extra precautions - brought the order out to the car so no patrons entering the establishment and all workers were wearing masks. We are trying to support as many local businesses as possible. We especially enjoyed walnut shrimp - what a wonderful dish. My office typically orders from Mandarin Cafe once or twice a month, which is how I came to be aware of this excellent little takeout joint. The owner, Alice, is great to her customers and knows her regulars' orders by heart which is always a nice touch. If you are looking for great Chinese then look no further! In particular, the Mandarin has excellent crab rangoons, beef and chicken teriyaki, chicken fingers, peiking raviolis, and honey spareribs. Some of my coworkers are devout fans of their chicken and broccoli, shrimp in lobster sauce, and my roommates particularly enjoy the miso soup and chicken lo mein. Really, we haven't had a bad experience yet since going to Mandarin Cafe. The dinner prices are pretty average at $12/13 per person, and the lunch combos can't be beat! read more

Last night while working I ordered dinner, Shrimps with lobster sauce combo plate with white rice and 4 chicken fingers. I also ordered an order of the boneless ribs. Thank god I had ordered the ribs because $27.00 dollars later, the shrimps with lobster sauce was disgusting with a bizarre almost gel like sauce and after 1 bite, I threw it away! The ribs are adequate and the 4 chicken fingers too! So bottom line $27.00 for an order of boneless ribs and 4 chicken fingers! I will not be ordering again!!! :( read more
