I stopped by today. It was late in the afternoon, but the cases looked nice and full. The inside of the establishment looked a bit grumpy, and not pristine clean. I guess you could say, it looked messy, but not dirty. I don't think their esthetic is meant to convey crisp and clean. I ordered a maple bar, an apple fritter, a marionberry fritter, a lemon cupcake, and a strawberry cupcake. I asked how much an eclair would be and she said she "thinks" they are 6.75. I think that's incredibly expensive. I was going to order 8 or 9 items, but that price freaked me out, so I said yes to the exlair. My marionberry fritter was tough and very hard to chew. My apple fritter was excellent. Soft and fried with a nice consistency. The frosting on the cupcakes was not good. Really, not good. The cupcakes were very good though. They need to change their recipe on the Frosting. My husband ate the entire maple bar, so it must have been good. That over priced eclair.... you want to know if it was good? Um, yes it was. Very good. Still over priced, but very good. I hate that they ask if you want to tip. I walked to the counter and ordered. I didn't taste the food, so I guess they are asking me to tip because she rang me up? Tipping is out of control and a huge reason why I will skip going back sometimes. I paid over $30 for 5 pastries. I really don't want to tip when I have to walk up to the counter. Overall, I might go back. I think it's a great location, the person working was very nice. I wish it looked a little cleaner, but I did kind of love that eclair. I'll refund my house and come back for that. read more

Cute enough, but inctedibly over priced. Questionable managment with several healthcode violations of which you can find in public documentation. A lot of corner cutting that severely limits MandyCake's potential. Employees seem to rotate in and out very quickly and they never have the same staff for more than a couple of months. Of which, one of the owners often publically micromanages so that was a bit awkward to watch. The food itself is decent! But none of this is really due to the bakery itself. They have some talented kitchen and bakery staff. Not ebough credit goes to the people running 90% of the show. read more

I stopped by with my son for a sweet treat while camping for the holiday and was pleasantly surprised by this bakery. While the building is a little outdated it's clean and had some outdoor seating which was nice as the day was great. My son loved the viewable cases and excitedly picked out his cupcake and I had a peanut butter brownie which was outstanding. I can't comment on the cupcake but my son devoured it so I'm sure it was good. My brownie was fudgey and had a nice crispy edge. The frosting ontop was creamy and light without being overpowering on the peanut butter. It had a nice chocolate drizzle that gave it a little extra texture and crunch. We stopped at MandyCakes in Albany, OR for breakfast one morning. It was awesome! We split the breakfast empanada and a mixed berry bar. Both were delicious! The empanada was flaky and filled with potatoes, cheese, eggs, and bacon. They warmed it up so it was all melty and tasty! The mixed berry bar was full of tart, yet sweet berries.... YUM! We also had iced americanos that were caffeinated and perfect. The service was great- everyone there was so nice and helpful. It's a large, clean space with plenty of seating. The cakes and cupcakes looked epic!!!! Actually everything in the display cases looked amazing..... I had a hard time deciding what to eat. Would definitely visit again! read more

They cross contaminate their ingredients. If you are allergic to anything I wouldn't eat there. The cheesecake has walnuts in the crust. A family member found out the hard way. visited this bakery 5 times because I understand off times here and there and wanted to try other offerings besides the sweet ones. First time I was with one of my children. The place was dark and not real inviting for being a bakery and a lot going on to the point of overwhelming. There was not much my child could have due to a server reaction to red dyes and then to see the sloppy work on the cheese cake bars that she wanted but had to pass because there was red dye dripped onto the cheesecake bar next to it. The Lemon cheesecake bar----looked good taste left a lot to be desired. Main part was good not sure why it was surrounded by frosting no need for it..Not everything needs to be coated in mass amounts of sugar and frosting. The bake was inconsistent some parts of it didn't even have a bottom crust, outside was rubbery. It is appreciated there was complimentary water that is a plus. Second time my other child was with me and we ordered 2 different items. Blueberry Scone----dry to much leveling agents only flavor was the first bite then it just was not edible and started to crumble because of being to dry. I did try one of the gluten-free cupcakes. Was no flavor think it was vanilla but didn't even smell like vanilla and like everything else it was coated and piled high with buttercream meaning the flavor is not good if the flavor profile is there you don't need to cover it up with buttercream. My main points there is even though the gluten-free is wrapped in food grade wrap (I hope) it is still contaminated if the wrap is stored in a wheat area due to the partials settling like fiberglass. Asked why kind of flour is used, the young man at the time, he is not there now, asked Mandy who was sitting at one of the tables with her husband just looked at me like she had no idea what I wanted then replied "flour"...Uhhh okay so that tells me you don't know what is going on in your own business. Shout Out to Josh who was a plethora of information thank you Josh for stepping in. Well my cupcake was gross and couldn't finish it. Was gummy and dense didn't smell like vanilla.........Good fix, do not mix gluten-free flours in a mixer because it is so easy to over mix and that what makes it gummy and dense only mix until no flour is seen get a smoother batter. The kid that helped me never changed his gloves once went from piping icing to helping my child, handling money then handling my gluten-free cupcake then back to piping-------That is a big GROSS, use as many gloves as you need customers will wait for the changeover and washing. Next was an breakfast empanada and a marionberry cannoli. Empanada was so good very crisp, buttery, light....EXCELLENT! Cannoli was tough, crunch and fell apart plus was coated on ends with white chocolate....not necessary if the filling and shell held up their end. The filling did have flavor however was grainy in spots no consistency. Try not rushing when baking the shells they need to be our main structure. Now we come to a double chocolate brownie and the fruit tart (tarts are one of my favorites so I did want to try it but didn't have good expectations) A friend of mine got the brownie and neither one of us could use the plastic fork to get a piece. Could see it was overbaked from the crust around it I couldn't even rip it off but need to taste before forming an opinion. Again some parts are chewy, some dry inconsistent. My tart didn't disappoint the shell was just pie crust no flavor. Nothing the custard was very good but in a tart if your foundation doesn't hold then other elements are overlooked. Fruit was a bit much for the size of the pastry try making a pate sable shell that would amplify the vanilla custard and don't try to squeeze lots of fruit but a few that doesn't overpower make it cleaner. The last and final of the review is went there only because it was closer and needed something to drink again one of my daughters was with me and wanted an Italian soda only no prices on things...why really like the new girl and can tell she has some barista experience, good personality interactive with people in the front and she did stock the napkins when out so she was quick and attentive....THUMBS UP!! Again your gluten-free items are no longer gluten-free once they go in the same display case as all the wheat surrounding them it's a big cross-contamination issue and they are no longer safe they need to be in a separate area. There was a salted caramel tart there not worth $9.00 the chocolate either was to warm when put the ganache on and it bloomed, the tart pans are of a cheap aluminum, or the caramel was not fully cooled when the chocolate went on because there was oxidation going on making your tart appear greyish. I did try the new coffee cake it was dry, dense however the topping was perfect ratio. Bigger does not mean better to charge more yes the volume is more but risking the flavor and overmixing, overbaking, the fats distribute uneven. read more

Our first trip was the week they opened. WWe weren't too impressed on our first trip but thought we would give her time to get everything together. Well, here we are several months since the opening and we will not be back. The coffee is not too bad but the bakery is over the top with sugary additions. Who actually wants or needs M & Ms or Skittles in your cookies. Also, scones are supposed to be dry and flaky not doughy even after putting them in the Microwave. You are in an ideal location. If you could improve on your bakery items for a coffee shop you may get more business. read more

Bacon Maple had hardly any frosting and bacon had no flavor, Filled donut with hard chocolate topping had no flavor other than the chocolate that fell off when you bit into it. In Albany, I have found it difficult to find sitdown coffee shops that have charm, are not excessively crowded or noisy, with easy parking, and not slammed when I show up. I noticed this venue a block away from La Roca, a Mexican restaurant I have patronized for more than 20 years, so I gave it a try. The barista was civil, my mocha was very good, there was ample seating, and the display of pastries blew me away. I will be returning to try more of their offerings. read more

My fiancee and I went to Mandy's for a wedding cake. Because we had not made an appointment, we scheduled another date and time to come back for sample cupcakes of our chosen flavors - and charged us $27 ON TOP of the nearly $1400 for the cake. When we showed up for the samples, they had forgotten us: no samples, no one there knew we were coming. We canceled both the samples and the cake because they obviously could not be trusted. They supposedly refunded our money, but a month later we finally had to go to the credit card company and dispute the charges to get our refund. Our new bakery not only did not charge us for the samples, but charged us only $800 for the exact same size cake. Don't go to Mandy's for a special event cake. They are unreliable and over charge. read more

I never leave reviews but i had to try and save humanity from these awful donuts. They had no flavor for the dough and the frosting was also gross. Not to mention they were 22 dollars for 8 donuts. Wich would be fine if they were good. When our child wont even eat them you know you have a problem. I would rather have a Safeway donut then these anyday. Dont waste your time. read more
