I usually don't take the time to write reviews but the reviews on this salon are what brought me in. I moved to the area 2 years ago and have been searching for a salon. I finally decided to pull the trigger when I came across this one due to the good reviews and being pretty close to home. The salon itself is hidden and small but cozy and inviting. Soon as i walked in I felt very welcomed. Posh and her sister (who was assisting her) made me feel like I found my new spot from the very beginning. Great conversation and outstanding service from both of them! I don't trust just anyone with my hair and I made that clear when I arrived with how nervous I was and how many questions I asked since I haven't touched my hair in over 2 years! Posh made me feel at ease every step of the way and the results were even better than I expected. Went to a high end salon, paid crazy amount of money to not get anything like I wanted. Hated the color, but at this point not much I could do. Stopped in at Mane event, spoke to the owner and she assured me she could definitely help with a color change that will make me happy until the mess I ended up with grew out. He cut my hair from when i was a kid until i moved to Geneva il in 2007. He is an artist who gives precision hair styles. My hair has never looked as good as when he cut it. Posh did an amazing color correction on my hair!! I came in for a different salon with a yellow band in my hair. Posh carefully listened to what I wanted and explained to me how she would fix it. Karen and Joe never cease to amaze. We both went back and let me tell you, there is nothing like great hair that just puts a smile on your face! Chris looks great, and Karen added more highlights to my hair and did the cutest hair style. We weren't planning to go out that day, but with the new do, I just had to, it was a blast. Well, let me tell you this. I have been looking for a new salon since mine currently closed due to covid. I have been going to my person for 12 years so I am nervous about having to go to someone new. I called this salon, just to ask some questions because I have curly/wavy frizzy hair and wanted to see if they had a stylist that specializes with this type of hair. I apologized for sounding snooty/snobish, that I was just really nervous about having to change. The person was nice on the phone at the time. Unfortunately for her , it is really unprofessional to speak about a customer call before they hang up the phone. I heard the "oh god" while speaking with another associate and telling them the story and saying "I don't want her, I pushed her off on Posh" and the other associate agreeing the sediment. I love Mane Event! I have been going to Karen there for over 10 years and she's the best. I constantly get compliments on my highlights. She also really listens. A couple of months ago, I was not able to get in to Karen due to my busy schedule. I tried the Sine Qua Non in Andersonville (which is MUCH closer to me!) and thought it could be my new spot, since it is so much closer. BIG mistake. I was treated like a number and felt like the stylist didn't really listen to what I had asked her. So, I went running back to Karen! I feel guilty that it has taken me so long to write this review, considering how amazing this salon is!! I have been going to Karen for 12 years and I will not let anyone else near my hair. I have a very strange mix of curly/straight/wavy hair and Karen is the only stylist who has ever been able to not only tame it, but make it look wonderful. I always get compliments. I trust her implicitly. Whenever I go in for an appointment, I am treated like family by the owner, Joe, and the other stylists. I am very lucky that I live nearby, but I would definitely be willing to travel many miles if one of us ever moved!
