For some time, I was worried they were disappearing because of the rise of chains like Supercuts and Hair Cuttery, but the local "mom-and-pops" are still around and I am always going to support them. JJ Barber Spa (will shorthand to "JJ" for the remainder of this review) is located on Bayside Lakes Blvd. in the same strip mall as my low-end reviewed Papa John's, across the street from the Publix Plaza. I have been back twice already and my barber, Tyler, does an excellent job cutting my hair and lining/shaving my beard. Best barbers always know how to engage with their clientele, especially regulars who have them starred on their phone list. You gotta trust your barber because he (or she) knows how to make you look damn good. Tyler and I usually engage over anything and everything thus making the barbering experience more enjoyable. Yet, I know when to shut up like when he has a cutthroat razor lining my beard. And since I do have some barber schooling, I can tell by looking around the other barbers do a fine job too. I can't really say much about the nail salon part of the spa on weekends, but if you're into nails, you now know there is an option. What I want to know is how far the barbers are allowed to go in following the style the Turkish or Indian barbers do their thing. Always tip more than well for the barber who makes you look good but if they did "cosmic head massages," well hot damn. Overall, great place to get a haircut. Clean with its own personality in decor. Unsure about the restrooms because I did not have to use them whenever I am there. And the price fits the service. Excellent work means a pricepoint that deserves it averaging $30. Once again, tip your barber well because he (or she) knows how to make you look good.

I've had my hair cut by several different barbers in the shop and I always walk out of there with a solid cut. I got tired of shuffle around from Sport clips to Hair cuttery and everything in between. My wife is happy because I don't come home and complain about a crappy cut! My foil took well over 6 hours which was very unusual with no good explanation , I had to leave and decline the hair cut and left with wet hair because of how long I had been in there . I've never been in a hair salon in all my years ever for that long . I got no apology or good reasoning . I will not recommend or be returning .
