Budget place with 5 star views. This is nothing fancy but it does it's job. The loedge is located…read morealong side a steep hill side. They have parking, around 20 spots?? but is really tight. If you can't find a spot, there's so space to turn around and you have to do some technical car reverse maneuvers. There is no elevator/lift which is a bummer especially if you have a lot to carry and lotta of sports equipment. They do have a courtyard with a hot put and bbq area. the noise travels to all the rooms easily. Continental breakfast was cereals, yogurt, fruit, bread and a few Spreads with coffee. Basic but appreciated. Bedrooms are tiny, pictures look a lot better then in person. Towels are basic, not thick and fluffy. I added a photo of the shower, just one soap for all attached on the wall. The sink area has no extra hand towels, hand bar soaps or lotions. But I'm glad each room has our own bathroom. It's a tiny tv with a mini fridge. Got a toaster and hot water kettle. There is a ski shop and a bar downstairs. This place does the job.

Great views with a great price! If you are in Queenstown and want to stay at an inexpensive place…read morewith a bit of a walk from the main town, then book a night or more at Reavers Lodge. One star off for having a steep hill to walk on when going to the front entrance and for being about a $10 taxi ride from the town. The staff are friendly and helpful, and with all the hard work from either being the receptionist to cleaning our rooms (sometimes it is the same person, thanks Ayla!); the overall experience was nice and relaxing. It almost felt like being in a college dorm; from the communal lounge to the communal kitchen, even to the continental breakfast that consisted of cereal and toast, this was a fun atmosphere and provided for a more enjoyable experience in adventure filled Queenstown.

The Waterfront Apartments were a little older in facility and smelled old, but I can't complain…read morebecause there was free parking, a small kitchen, and the location was perfect walking distance to the eateries and shops, with a perfect lakeside view. We stayed in one of the penthouses, so we got a great view of the touristy community, the lake, and the Skyline Mountain. The free wifi was a bit shoddy. It was just easier to use our own international data plan instead of the apartment wifi. The Waterfront was like renting an Airbnb--there is no one tending to the room/facility at all times, and the building is home to some residents. People were pretty respectful of keeping quiet during the late evening hours. My favorite part about the stay was the electric blanket underneath the fitted sheet. I stayed pretty warm during the cold autumn evening!

Two stars may be a bit harsh, but I am selecting that option to draw attention to the odd mix of…read morepluses and minuses that The Waterfront offers. You may decide the pluses outweigh the minuses, but they are not necessarily apparent from the available online information. On the good side, the location does indeed have views of lake Wakatipu and the mountains behind it, and the apartments we saw are comfortable and fully equipped. The management is pleasant and accommodating, and clearly wants to make your experience a good one. On the not so good side: the building is actually located on a busy road, with the lake about 50m away (on the other side of the road). Consequently, first-floor units (one of which we were given upon arrival) primarily give you a view of the car park in front of the building, and the road, and the busy sidewalks. You can see the lake and mountains further on, but it's certainly not a tranquil view of the water, by any stretch. Moreover, because units are given out as available, you never know whether you're going to get one of these lower units. So you might get an upper unit, which have unimpeded views of the lake and mountains, or a lower one with compromised views. Some people may not care about this one way or the other, but we do...especially for the price, which is pretty expensive. To be completely fair, I suspect any unit about level 1 would be OK (though the higher up you go, the better). And most of the units (80%?) are level 2 or above. So by random chance, your odds of getting a good view are good. Nevertheless, having traveled some 15,000 miles for this vacation, for us the aesthetic experience matters a lot, and we don't like having this be a matter of the luck of the draw. Therefore, had we been aware of the situation ahead of time, we would not have booked here. I should mention that the management graciously relocated us to a 4th floor unit the day after our arrival, after we complained. They seem aware of the "not clear what you're buying" problem; we are evidently far from the first to mention it. And they will accommodate you if they can. Still, if you got a level 1 unit and the building was booked solid for your stay, you'd be out of luck as far as a switch is concerned.

Ridiculously expensive considering how tired and run-down the place is. Coffee machine didn't work,…read moreand there were only two lousy pods in the tray anyway, which doesn't sound like much but you'd think for $800 a night they could quality check their rooms? Getting fully dressed in winter gear to go out and get coffee should not be a requirement for that price. Also, thought for the cost and the fact that we booked several months in advance, that we might have had a nicer room, rather than outside the lift, on the lowest floor. Anyway, they choose to serve how they like. We won't stay again, and we won't recommend it. Stay somewhere else, there are plenty better in Queenstown as we found out. Saving graces? The staff were pleasant and the view would be good from a better room than the one they gave us.

Check in and check out were simple and fast. They had a restaurant with beautiful views of the mountains. We requested a room with a scenic view and received one. Waking up to those gorgeous views were a plus. We had a standard double bed room. There was a small refrigerator filled with drinks and snacks. We made sure we didn't touch any of it, lmao. Save those coins and buy your own knick knacks. The room had cable tv including some American channels we loved like E Entertainment and Bravo. We wished the room temperature could've been a bit warmer. There were some cold nights and we felt the heat could've been higher. There was no microwave which we would've enjoyed. I loved that the hotel had a tour area where you can book your tours. Even though there are like 5 different tour companies on every block in Queenstown. Lol. Overall the hotel was worth the location of walking distance to the center area attractions. They hold your luggage before/ after check in if necessary. I would stay in this hotel again.
