Anyway, for those not in the know, Chen Art Gallery is tucked away in the Sunrider office building. You have to call to make an appointment and parking is free on the street. But it's all free so book away! Anyway, once you're in, there's a heavy emphasis on no phones or photography, and you'll discover why once you step foot inside. Holly was an amazing tour guide and knows her Chinese history really well, better than most of us probably. Anyway, where to even start? There's 15 rooms of artifacts from all dynasties of China, as young as Qing dynasty up to the 19th century to as old as 3000BC. And you'll be seeing things from authentic thrones to lavish silk embroideries to beautiful jade to sculptures to ceramics to gold, gold and more gold. Everything is carefully curated and honestly, if photos got out, big museums might hound them to borrow their exhibits hah! Anyway, you will be blown away by the sheer proportion of this lowkey museum/art gallery and by the sheer quantity AND quality of everything in here. This is a must visit and I'm very lucky to live so close by cause I hope to visit again in the future. Props to Dr. Chen for having such good taste and literally paying for all of this!

It's located in the civic center, in the back, so you can't see it off of the street. It's almost a game of hide and seek, where you need to find it. Even when I did finally find it, I wasn't sure I was at the right place or if it was even open. However, I was not disappointed when I finally walked inside. It's a teeny place. More like a gallery than what I would call a museum. Open floor plan. Great art though. An eclectic collection of paintings and mixed media when I visited. There were a couple other parties viewing the artwork. Not crowded. Parking: Free lot.

We came while they showcased pastels and wow, the attention to detail is incredible. We appreciated the art no matter how big or small and noticed they host events here and even have the artists in person at times. It's a nice change of pace, being able to wander here, appreciate the art, and if you're feeling generous, even purchase some of the art for yourself. Anyway, if you even get bored of Del Amo Mall, this is a nice alternative to enjoy. VEFA Gallery is quaint and personal without the pretentiousness of bigger art galleries (if they are that at all).

We've been going to this event since its inception and it's been getting better and better every…read moreyear. There's so much to experience. Many businesses open their doors for a rare peek inside their unique spaces; the art can be extraordinary (I.e. live glass blowing and live paintings); there's good food , music and entertainment; some venues raise many for good causes (i.e. children's hospital); they've added an augmented reality option to see large outdoor murals animate on your phone; and it's a festive atmosphere that builds community. You don't need to appreciate the art to have a good time. Just take a stroll and take it all in. Plus they have free shuttles. What's not to like? Go!

I was so intrigued by some of the art I saw while walking past so I decided to venture in. There was a guy inside working on a new piece of art and chatting with someone. He seemed friendly but I didn't want to interrupt an artist at work. The pieces inside the gallery are just WOW! It's nostalgic, thought-provoking, and provocative all at the same time. I plan on attending their Be Kind, Rewind group show later this month. Good art is priceless so I won't comment on pricing.
