The hair stylist, I believe to be the owner, took great care of my 93 year old mother. My mother rarely gets out and has lost some joy in daily life. Today, I brought my mother to have her hair styled. The stylist showed concern for my mother's experience and made it special for her - spending a good amount of patience and took her time to do a really nice job. Convenient hair salon for Normandy Park Folks... Need a haircut? Don't want to wait several days for an appointment? Give a call to Manhattan Hair, and they will probably be able to fit you in in that day if not in an hour or two. The haircut I got was fine. Just basic but that's really all I wanted anyway. I think I would have paid for a shampoo if the lady had offered, but maybe she didn't have time. There are like 4 or 5 chairs at this place and it looks like they can support several stylists at one time, but when I asked the stylist about it, she indicated that she was now the only one there. So, chalk up another layoff to Covid I guess. In general, the small businesses in Normandy Park are really struggling to hang on, and can use all the support they can get. I think we are all hoping this thing will be over soon, and folks will start coming back to thier local businesses. Till then, please help the small businesses in yoiur neighborhood. So, good haircut, convenient location, (Right next to the QFC) and they obviously need as much business as we can give them. So for those reasons, I am awarding 5 stars. So put down your flowbee and get a style at Manhattan Hair! My daughter had her hair bleached and dyed a few times now with zero issues. It is critical that the correct shampoo is used and that hey is dry it it might bleed. The green did bleed the next day when she was sweating profusely at a school dance, but the black did not. It is all about area of expertise; my daughter and I are not hair professionals so we listen to Thao. Highly recommended. read more

My first time going here I was skeptical because I was used to MY barber/stylist, so I put on my critical armor but was shocked to discover this little lady shined me up proper. She is hip to the styles and knows her business. Now, as I've been a regular of sorts, I have seen her dedication to her craft with other long time clients as I await my turn. She has a personal report with everyone who comes in and I've even seen her worry and take it quite personal when on a rare occasion, she wound up with an unhappy customer. Turns out that customer had not followed her directions for her hair care and fretted about it later. Although I assured her there are some you just can't please, it visibly still worried her and that spoke volumes to me. She has gone over and above to see my hair turns out the way I want and puts in the extra time and effort going past normal times to see it done right. I wish I recorded that entire thing. I have never been so embarrassed and disrespected by anyone in my life. Thao is the most unprofessional and disrespectful person I have ever encountered. Backstory: I came in to get a haircut and dye my hair completely black. The next day when I washed my hair, it faded. I thought that was normal since it was fresh. I dried my hair with a towel, and it got stained. I still thought it was normal. My pillowcase got stained as well. Then after more than three washes, my hair still bleeds back and stains my pillow and towel. Then I called Thao, the lady who did my hair. I told her what was happening with my hair, and she said I should use a different color care shampoo. So I did. It was still the same result. So I called back, and she told me she would redo my hair. Then the day of my appointment, I called to let her know that I tried washing my hair with JUST PLAIN water, but it still bled and stained. She said I kept calling her and lectured me over the phone and would give me a refund instead. I agreed. Then I went to her salon. She asked me to sit and check my hair. While doing all that, she kept lecturing me and telling me she didn't see a problem. She kept going back in circles. She was yelling in my face while there was another customer around. She told me I should not wash my hair, not use a white towel, and dry my hair. Everything she was saying was unnecessary. That was not going to stop my hair my bleeding and staining. To be clear, she offered to refund me the money because she wanted to get it over with over the phone. That did not happen. I came there. She was spraying my hair with water and was trying to replicate the stain I was saying from the towel. I've had enough and told her she should not treat me that way because I was a customer. She was so disrespectful to me, and I felt bullied. So I had enough, stood up, and was ready to walk up. But she won't stop yelling. I told her I would make a complaint, and she even got mad and shouted: "GO COMPLAIN." I had to leave and walked out. She kept calling me and texting me to come back. I had to block her number. There was a witness, and she SAW everything. If I could give a negative 0 review, I would. TO FUTURE CUSTOMERS: PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF A TROUBLE. IT IS NOT WORTH IT. UNFORTUNATELY, MY HAIR IS STILL NOT FIXED, AND NOW I HAVE TO SPEND MORE MONEY TO GET IT REDONE SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

Thao is super friendly and very professional. Having just moved to the area, I was a little nervous about finding a new hair stylist that would understand my curly mane. Thao took the time to listen to what I'm trying to achieve with my hair and she made it happen. I got a trim and full foil for $85 and have received many compliments on it. Thao works the entire salon, usually by herself, and can fit in a quick cut for one client while working on a color for another client. She's also got a lot of other loyal clients who appreciate her skills. I'd say she's quick, efficient and affordable. $14 for men's cut and $16 for women's. She also does waxing and did a great job on my brows. I wish the owners would do something a little more creative with the decor, something upbeat and modern to bring in more clientele. I decided on a highlight, colored the bottom half of my hair & she styled my hair. She multitasked by coloring our hair & helping other who walked in requesting a cut.
