Tan is my new favorite hairstylist. (I hope I'm getting his name right!) This was my first time here. The shampoo was great, and the woman who washed my hair gave a brief neck rub after that felt really nice (in addition to the scalp massage, during). They directed me to Tan for the actual haircut. He listened to what I said, took the photo I showed into consideration, and asked questions along the way. He asked where I part my hair and made sure that the length in front (and back, which was my biggest concern) was to my liking. I LOVE how he cut my hair because it's exactly what I wanted. I almost always get someone who gives me 80-90% of what I wanted, but it always misses the mark somewhere and this was absolutely perfect. If this is 5 stars on yelp then yelp is a lie!!! Both my husband and I came here different times for a haircut. Both walk-ins and never been here before. We live nearby so no wonder why even I told my husband I had a bad haircut nearby, he wouldn't know it's the one he would go to too. I have my hair part 8:2 shoulder length, I went in for a chop just to make it shorter, however, for people that don't understand how to cut hair professionally... She literally just cut it right with my part 8:2... and nope, you would think that's okay, but if I part it 5:5, some of my hair is too long and some too short. Yep girl don't even think about styling with this cut. Bonus is, she can't even cut it even with the 8:2... even with my part 8:2 she still cut it way shorter on the left side and when I washed my hair after the haircut, I had to trim some of the hair that are not even lined.... Enough with the haircut and let's about service. There's no service. Just "oh you walk in? Wait. And then come cut it in 10 minutes. You good, let's go." Not even a smile. not even trying to have a conversation. Nothing. Mine was bad, and guess what, my husband too! Well if she as a woman can't do woman haircut, no doubt she also can't do a easy trim on a man. Uneven again, no gradient whatsoever. WOW. I'm amazed how both me and my husband fell into this mess. Just wow. I rarely give 1 star because I don't think anyone deserve 1 star for their reputation ONLY IF they are that bad. And yes, this is a no doubt at all 1 star. 2 stars can't explain how bad it is. This is not even skilled. Almost like a family and friends business only. So if you're not a friend or family, it's gonna be horrible. Not recommended at all. If you find something else in Burien, which I did after that, you will understand how much better not just your haircut, but the service is. There are so many options in Burien! So please don't fool yourself like me and my husband did! (I actually took pictures of the uneven hair but it was long time ago so I am not trying to find those pictures now. Brought my two year old son here for a haircut. Best thing to do is call first before coming cause it gets busy. Came in early and had toys to keep my son busy and quite tilit was his turn. The salon was clean. She is very friendly. When she opened her arms my son ran to her and during the haircut he stayed quite and she was very gentle took her time and she did such a great job. Cost wise they are good, just $15 for men's haircut. Last time I had haircut and I did not like it, I explained it well and showed them pictures as well but at the end I was unsatisfied. I would highly recommend not getting your color done at this place. The top of my head was orange, and she told that it is the light and that it will be fine once I get home. My family members were laughing at how bad it was. She refused to answer my calls, then finally she answered, I had to text her a pic of my hair, never heard back. Finally, I purchased a dark brown color and fixed it myself. I even gave her a $5 tip. Close to $80 for color and cut and it was terrible. The problem was that she left the color in for close to an hour because she was busy and kept cutting men's hair and just had me sit there even when I told her that my hair was itching. Mai is a great stylist and colorist. Quality and professional service everything time. Gives me heat feedback on what works for me and what doesn't. Very affordable and I like that you can just drop in for a haircut and color. She works fast, but doesn't compromise quality and the relationship. The only downside is that she's not always at the salon and once I had to go back 3 separate times to find her.
