The gallery was much bigger inside than I initially figured from looking through windows. I wasn't sure if it was the correct place because there's plenty buildings in the vicinity. Parking was ample but scattered. Anyways, I met some really nice people not just artists. Also, all artists works showcased at the gallery were up for sale, unless otherwise noted. It was a wonderful soirée with a nice crowd turnout. Comfortable. Creative. Friendly with artists, intellectuals and local patrons.

There are always different themed shows coming to the gallery, and they put a call out to the community for submissions for each theme too. I took my little baby girl here and my husband. We loved the beautiful art -- of all styles in the theme that month, which was Still Life. It was so cozy in there. They also have lots of seats and benches to sit and admire the art. They also have a little free library for kids where you can leave or take a book. It's a great place to spend your afternoon. They also have lots of art classes. Please keep in touch with them! Stuart studied art at Carnegie Mellon University and UCLA. His work is in museums and galleries all over the world! One of his pieces is in the permanent collection at the Corning Museum of Glass. Stuart is also one of the nicest guys! If you ever get the chance to meet him, you won't forget him. Since early 2020 the business has deteriorated very badly and appears to be struggling to stay afloat. I have a large amount of money paid towards an order and been trying for the last year to get the sculptures but getting a response has become near impossible. I have sent more than 50 emails to their sole proprietor - Ian Killips- and I get an occasional response, but it's very tardy. No one answers the phone and the voice mail box is full, so you can't reach a person to talk to. Employees like Daniel Meyer and La Ree Drolet had become extremely rude, especially after good ones like Phillip Norkett and Eduardo Ortiz left. It's very sad because they used to be so good right until 2019. And seeing a local business get to this state is indeed a tragedy of the times. I am still rooting that the company will turn around and continue to cast fine sculptures.

Customers include art dealers, auction houses, and private collectors. I consulted with them for a quote so you can ask about fancy finishes or patinas. I toured the foundry before I gave them a 2" wax pumpkin positive. I'd use them again. The owner has an undergraduate degree in art history. The work fabricated there is featured in an aircraft carrier as well as the White House. They cast then ship museum quality pure bronze sculptures in foam cushions. They used the lost wax method to create my bronze paperweight covered in black patina (I sanded some of that off to admire the shiny metal). This is not an art gallery offline but they have many ancient Greek, Art Deco, Art Noveau, and Roman reproductions on their shelves.

For me it's the experience - the time spent looking, studying, and simply browsing a collection is worth gold to me. Chemers Gallery in Tustin is that place that offers that whole experience. Every time I go in there, which I admit isn't near often enough but probably more than some, I delight in "finds". I have a fairly decent collection of artwork and it's not confined to paintings. I've ceramics, sculptures, glasswork, pottery, photographs, and a few weird pieces of found object works as well. Quite a few of those pieces have come from this jewel of a gallery so close to home. The owner Karen, and her friendly staff have always allowed me the luxury to simply roam. I have to walk through numerous times to take everything in. I get distracted by one or two pieces and then turn around and find something else completely unexpected. And, it becomes mine. I love this place!! I am a retired healthcare designer and Chemers was the art consultant on a few of our firms healthcare projects. What I enjoyed was the chosen works were always different from the predictable works too often seen in healthcare spaces and, they always complimented the concepts of our interiors. I also love the shows and exhibitions they often host here. Often soliciting works from local artists, craftspeople, and even foodies, these "pop-up" shows are always good for gifts, wearables, and sometimes taste-ables! And if I'm lucky, I often walk away with a new piece! I always look forward to stopping in on these shows and could spend an hour or more perusing.
