The Manning Park Visitor Centre is located just a few clicks East of Manning Park Resort. It was a stop & visit place for us recently, during our stay at the nearby Resort. It's great for those travelling and requiring/seeking some information assistance re: E. C. Manning Provincial Park. And at the same time, provides a handy 'pitstop' for washrooms, sani station for vehicles, small picnic table area (for a breakfast or lunch break), or just a nice place and lovely setting to get out of one's vehicle and stretch the legs a little. The outside foyer of the building features several framed, wall displays (w/history, Park map, some of the flora & fauna, and such), plus, a bulletin board of current & upcoming events and such in the Park. The service counter inside the building is attended by a staff person, who can supplement the written information that's available, and help answer those questions one may have re: some specifics of the 'what, where, and when', and the like. There are several rather nicely setup, informative museum-like displays -- featuring Park history, some of the natural and physical sights to be seen within the Park, an interactive, under-glass display of the various mountains in the Park, indicating riding and other trails, flora & fauna displays, and more -- plus, a retail space, offering a selection of books, postcards, clothing, and such. The Visitor Centre is a must-stop of ours each time we are in Manning Park. This year, the weather, setting, and offerings at the Centre (attractive, informative displays), just really seemed to click, and the visit was especially enjoyed. read more

The park is clean with lots of shade and picnic tables and it is not overly crowded although I still recommend going early to get a prime picnic area. Some of the best campsites at this location are definitely the lake sides ones as these give you direct access to the lake without having to leave your site! However, it isn't too difficult to either walk to the lake or take a short drive out to the day use area if you have one of the inner sites. One of the big draws of this location was the lack of RV's which makes for an amazingly quiet and relaxing experience. The site also has strict rules about when you can run your generators which definitely helps as well. Many of the sites that we passed by where mainly tents with smaller camping trailers. There are also a variety of trails near by as well as access to some cool looking mountain biking courses. It is important to note that there are no shower facilities here or full bathrooms. However, all their porter potties/washrooms are actually fitted with flush toilets! They are also cleaned very frequently. Overall, this place is great for families and perfect for car camping enthusiasts that want a more peaceful and relaxing experience. Additional notes: The campsite is located just 5 or 10 minutes from Tulameen which means easy access food/supplies if you need a top off. Also if you need propane you'll need to go across the street from the town's general store - look for the motel, and call the posted number to get service. The owner lives pretty close by and can generally get there in 5 minutes or so of the call. They take debit/cash.

Our trail walks within the Park were very limited during our stay this year, but I did capture some of the sights where we went, and will attempt to include some appropriate descriptive comments with each.

We attended a wedding at Manning Park Resort and stayed in a standard cabin which was supposed to…read morebe four bunk beds and a queen in a separate room. We ended up getting two bunk beds in a queen in one room and a queen in another room which worked out great with our kids. The cabins are comfortable except for there's no air conditioning in the cabins or even in the lodge. So keep that in mind if staying in the summer. There was a fan provided but only one for the whole entire room at night. It did cool off so we'd open up the windows to cool off the cabin. There was a strange smell, probably from the previous people's cooking in the cabin which was unpleasant for the first day.

No "how was your stay ?" or anything. Pool and hotbtub looked questionable so didn't use. Room was fine - very basic motel room. Not giving "resort" vibes. Outside to lodge was all torn up and under construction. Pub closed. Restaurant seemed more like a cafeteria with waitresses -zero ambiance or charm. Seafood chowder was good. Beef dip was enjoyed but fries were tasteless and oily and same with the unsalted unseasoned yam fries. Overpriced for mid week off season. . Won't be back

One is located at Ross Lake right along the US Canada border. The lake only has water on the Canadian side at certain times of the year as it is a reservoir (check the website before heading here). If there is no water in the Canadian side of the lake and you have your passport you can cross at a little US National Park Boarder Crossing. There are many trails in this park some that connect back into Manning Park like the Skyline 2 trail and the silverdaisy trail. The trail that I would recommend is the Skagit River Trail starting on the Hope side of the park. This is an over night backpacking trip unless you have a car parked on the Manning side as well as it is a 32km round trip. It is a beautiful trip along a lush river valley with pockets of old growth forest and one Ecological Reserve right in the middle. Delacey Camp has a pit toilet, one picnic table and a bear bin (I have camped there twice and we were the only people both times!). Not far past Delacey Camp there are some remnants from an old mine in the area. If you do not miss it they are really cool to check out! There is also history behind this trail as it was used by gold rushers to get from the USA way back in the day. If you come to this park at the right time of year you will find all kinds of wildflowers growing such as the Red Rhododendron. For all you horse lovers this park is also friendly to horses and allow them on most trails! I would also only reccomend summer travel in this park.
