It seems she was prioritizing making a sale with another client rather than being punctual. The girl, I was speaking with was explaining some things to me, but when I pressed her into detail, things started to get a bit confusing I believe she was using a sales tactic known as pacing. Once I had a good point to make I was cut off. I noticed some contradictions in her statements such as " some agencies look for a unique look so you need to know what you want to show" and as I became more skeptical she said " there are tons of attractive guys In Houston if you don't have the training they will go with the other attractive guy". Seemed a bit devaluing after they asked me to get a ton more headshots for a unique look. They then said it would be too risky for me to be trained for free as I could just "dip out" whenever, but I don't believe that to make any logical sense as why would I waste my time training to become a model to only then say thanks now I'm gonna go ahead and try to find another agency that will find me work so I can make money when they were already going to set me up with jobs to start my career with. A reputable agency makes commission off of the work you do with the client, around 10-20 percent. They also made another statement which was false. "No agency is going to train you for free." Which isn't the case. Then when I asked them about the negative reviews online regarding models paying for classes and not receiving any work, she then blamed the models for "not opening emails or paying attention to the work that was sent to them ". If an agency sees potential in you they will train you not ask for thousands of dollars for classes.

Come in early to get more practice or stay late if needed. They are flexible with time. As long as you make the effort there is no problem. They push for you to use scrap metal from the Recycle bin daily to get the most use out of the metal. All you need is a beveled edge to weld so i am not sure what the real complaints are there. Even with the scrap pipe, there is always something to weld to, most time you just have to grind off a tack weld. People complaining about this are just lazy, there is PLENTY to weld on. As for complaints about Welding Rods, This is true, but this is all derived from the students again. If the students would Use the full rod instead of just burning the first 6 inches and trying to get a new rod this wouldn't be an issue. this is not an exaggeration... they will burn one rod doing one pass on some bevel plate then toss that rod for a new rod to run another bead so they don't have to work on their tie-ins. There is always plenty of gas to use for mig/flux and Tig. You can also work on a few side projects if you have time/motivation. My final note with this school is, if you do the 1300 hour program, there is really not much for you to do. It's just all extra practice. You have access to the High Frequency machine for doing some aluminium welding but there is really a limited amount knowledge from the instructors regarding aluminium welding. I learned most of what i know from youtube and trial and error. Plenty of time there at the school to try things, but not instruction when it came to aluminium. It would be nice if there were more exotic metals to work with for the 1300 hour program but they do not offer that, just additional time doing what you are doing in the 900 hour program. Pros: No limit to the amount of hands on you can do. You will use scrap a lot. Plenty of gas mig/flux/tig Cons: limited material types to use. (Carbon steel plate and pipe, stainless pipe, aluminum plate are all thats offered. There are a couple others for purchase tho.) Limited knowledge when it comes to aluminium welding from the instructors. Had fun, would recommend, Just don't be lazy, you have to burn to learn.

I was not happy with the delays. A place like this shouldn't be having technical issues, they are a COMPUTER LEARNING center after all. One thing I did enjoy was that they were able to accommodate my request for a private testing area. The testing room was quiet and peaceful, with many other testers nearby. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place to a friend. They did not offer flexible payment methods. and the delays (partially due to the fact that they have outdated computer equipment) were a deal breaker for me. Check out Excel Solutions Team instead.

Plenty of breaks in between and a great feature to look forward to is having access to the course for an additional 6 months after completion and a certificate to add to your resume! To help our students prepare for life, prepare for careers and have a plan for their future. In our welding program we have over 150 years of combined experience. Our HVACR instructors are running close to that and our Auto and DIesel instructors run way above that. While some students may have some challenges with some instructors, thats understandable and never an excuse to have some attitude disparities, remember in life, you will deal with that, you will have co-workers and bosses that you will not get along with. With that said, I am very proud of our Austin team... we have changed many lives, and many many more to go. We are here to serve you and I know that we will always improve to be better for our current and future students and staff.

From the beginning I should've known that the school is not a reputable school. They are worried about taking your money right away before giving you a curriculum or even a tour of the school. The classroom I was personally in fits 3 people and the equipment used to taught the course was all non functional. The first day was a mandatory CPR course (which i get why you need in the medical field) but all it was was showing us a video that asked us to follow the video with a dummy that we did not have. When Dr. Raymond came back in the room he taught the most basic cpr instructions on a a gross looking dummy for about 10 minutes. The classrooms were full of old unusable equipment and photos of students from the early 2000's. I learned everything straight from the book/the internet on my own. Dr. Raymond's lectures are about 10 minutes long (if you're lucky) where he says nonsensical things or reads straight from the book. I asked him questions countless times and was left more confused than before as it was like he didn't know what he was talking about. He accidentally left me a voicemail talking trash about his students with the other teacher(his wife) and how students all think they know everything. At the end of my course I took my test in person and in writing(not electronically) and did not hear back anything about my results. I finally called and was answered by a rude receptionist saying she was sure she sent me the link to my certificate. Dr. Raymond did not offer me job placement even though I made sure to ask when I signed up if that's something they did. His wife assured me that they did. Instead I got a call from him offering to pay me $9 an hour to teach his EKG course for 2 hours a day, 2 days a week. (So a whopping $36 a week to teach others things I barely learned on my own) TLDR: do not go here if you want a real education. If you want to pay to go sit in a gross outdated classroom, read straight from a book everyday, and listen to the Doctor take personal phone calls while sitting in class with you trying to read about what he's about to "lecture" you on then this is the place! Also beware and ask about ALL THE FEES. As the test is not included, nor is CPR.

I've seen other Fortis locations…read morelisted, but they have different addresses, so to be clear, this review is for the Fortis Institute located at 450 N Sam Houston Pkwy E, Ste 200, Houston, TX 77060. I attended this school for the Medical Assistant program to work toward becoming a CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant). At the beginning, my experience was okay and I didn't have many issues with my classes or instructors. However, as I got further into the program, my experience started to change. There were three staff members in particular that I had issues with. 1. Ms. Marin: I later found out that she would talk about me and my friends, and there were times when she would call us out in front of the entire class in a way that made us feel singled out or less than everyone else. I don't think students should be made to feel embarrassed in front of their classmates, especially by an instructor. 2. Ms. Nun: Whenever I had class with her, I felt like we barely learned anything. I specifically remember my friends and I asking if we could go through the skills list and practice different things to see what we still remembered and what we needed more help with. We were trying to make sure we were actually prepared, but our request was basically ignored and we barely practiced anything. 3. Ms. Moxcley: Toward the end of the program, we were told that we would receive assistance with finding employment. I remember reaching out to her multiple times about finding a job, but I would either receive no response or very little communication. Because I wasn't getting anywhere, I recently contacted Ms. Goss for help finding an MA position. I explained that I'm specifically interested in working as a Medical Assistant in an OB/GYN clinic. She told me she would call me. When she called, I happened to be busy and missed it, but I returned her call shortly afterward. She didn't answer, so I sent her a message letting her know I had called back and was available. This happened Tuesday. By Friday, I still had not received a response to any of the messages I sent afterward. I finally sent another message, and she responded saying she would call me "momentarily." I waited about two hours and still did not receive a call. That is what finally pushed me to leave this review. One of the things students are told is that Fortis will help them with employment after completing the program. In my experience, once you're finished with the school, getting that help has been extremely frustrating. Messages go unanswered, communication is inconsistent, and the employment assistance I was told I would receive has not been what I expected. I also don't understand the point of asking students what area they want to specialize in as an MA if the positions they are being directed toward aren't related to what they said they were interested in. I understand that nobody can guarantee you a specific job, but there is a difference between not being able to guarantee employment and simply not communicating with a former student who is actively asking for assistance. I completed my program and I'm genuinely trying to start my career and put my education to use. I'm not asking anyone to hand me a job. I'm asking for the career assistance and communication that we were told would be available to us. Unfortunately, my experience trying to receive that assistance has been extremely disappointing.

You can still work while in the program unlike lone star. It is pretty easy to study the material. If you're going into to LMRT program use the site called Purpose Games and follow KayMich! It helps a lot!! I will be doing the Online RT program soon! Now there was some confusion when the program directors were switched but it was pretty smooth. The externship placement was pretty stressful and finding a job was stressful. It took someone 3 months to reach out to help me find a job.

I…read moregraduated from the program, so my opinion is based on my own experience from start to finish, not just a single incident. One of my biggest concerns is that the school seems more focused on making money than on supporting its students. During orientation, students are strongly encouraged to leave positive reviews before they've even attended a single class. At that point everyone is excited to have been accepted, so of course many students leave glowing reviews. Looking back, those reviews do not accurately reflect the experience many of us had throughout the program. If it weren't for my classmates, I honestly believe many of us would not have graduated. We became each other's teachers because we had to. We formed study groups, explained concepts to one another, shared resources, and spent countless hours trying to understand material that we felt wasn't being taught effectively. Some instructors came across as dismissive and rude. When students asked questions because they genuinely wanted to understand the material, we were often met with responses like, "I already explained that," instead of having the information presented in a different way. Reading directly from PowerPoint slides is not teaching. Students learn differently, and instructors should be willing to explain concepts using different methods when an entire class is struggling. The quizzes and exams were another major frustration. Many of the quiz questions covered material that wasn't emphasized in class or on the PowerPoint presentations. We quickly learned that simply attending lecture wasn't enough--you had to read entire textbook chapters and hope you studied the right sections. For a program this demanding, students need structured study guides and practice questions. Instructors at other colleges I've attended provided hundreds of review questions throughout the semester, which greatly improved retention and exam performance. Something similar would have made a tremendous difference here. The testing environment also added unnecessary stress. During exams, instructors would stand behind students and watch our computer screens while we tested. I have attended multiple college programs and have never experienced that before. It created additional anxiety during already stressful exams and made many students uncomfortable. The facilities were unacceptable considering the amount of tuition students pay. During our first year, several classrooms had little or no air conditioning. Students were sweating during lectures, feeling dizzy, and struggling to concentrate because the rooms became so hot. Learning complex medical concepts is difficult enough without having to sit in uncomfortable classroom conditions. There were also frequent issues with supplies not being stocked in the labs and bathrooms, which should never be a recurring problem. Considering the cost of tuition, I also believe students should receive better educational resources. Many ultrasound programs provide students with a Butterfly handheld ultrasound probe as part of the tuition for us to keep after graduation. That would provide far more long-term value than some of the resources currently included in tuition(backpack,cheap uniforms). The registry review resources also need improvement. We received only limited access to URR during the review course. Students preparing for the ARDMS registry would benefit much more from extended access to review materials or subscriptions to resources such as MyUltrasoundTutor and Prepry. Career services were perhaps the biggest disappointment. We were instructed to submit our resumes, but no one provided meaningful edits, guidance, or feedback. They simply collected them. There was no assistance with networking, interview preparation, or actively helping graduates apply for positions. However, the school had no problem contacting graduates to ask whether they had found jobs so they could report employment statistics. There seemed to be much more interest in collecting placement numbers than actually helping graduates become employed. The advertised job fairs were also misleading. We were repeatedly told that Diagnostic Medical Sonography employers would be attending, but when we arrived, the majority of employers represented Medical Assistant or Radiologic Technology positions, making those events of little value for DMS students actively seeking employment. Overall, I am grateful that I graduated, but I credit much of my success to my classmates and the countless hours we spent teaching each other--not to the support we received from the program itself. Students deserve an education that reflects the high tuition they pay, and unfortunately, that was not my experience.
