    Creek running through the campground

3.5 is more like it. I found this campground after doing some Yelp research (as usual) for our week long camping trip through Arizona. Sedona was our first stop which brought us to manzanita. I booked this spot exactly 6 months in advance (site #18). The sites really are packed right next to each other. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table. The creek was right behind our site and made for some great sleeping background noise. 4 bathrooms for the entire campground which were in surprisingly great condition. No showers, sinks or mirrors here. About 15-20 minute drive down the road will bring you to the quaint town of Sedona. We saw Bell rock, cathedral rock, and some awesome scenery along the way. This campground was also one of the quietest I've ever been in. The camp host sells bundles of firewood for $7/bundle. If you drive into town you can stop at Bashas and buy a bundle twice the size for $6.19. Overall we enjoyed our stay at manzanita, the central location and scenery was very nice, I don't think I would stay here for more than 2 nights, though.

First time camping and will definitely come back! Erin and Ian were the best hosts we could have. They were always there to help us, and even got our car out of the the snow! They were extremely attentive and I would come back just for them. The campsite was pretty, clean bathrooms, and you could hardly hear the traffic. I highly recommend.

Love this place. Small off the road, creekside campsite. Clean basic bathroom, no flush. Picnic tables, fire pit, and water faucet. Ground is hard and cold at night. Sight manager is friendly and awesome. Dogs MUST be on leach.

Manzanita Campground is located just south of Slide Rock State Park in Oak Creek Canyon. 19 campsites are small and some are now reservable. Come early and during the weekdays to have a chance at one of these prime campsites. The camp area is so small that there no room for RV's. Only one vehicle is allowed per site. The campground borders Oak Creek in a lush, forested riparian zone with Arizona ash and box elders, gravel beaches and stream-bed boulders. Colorful songbirds add flashes of brilliance to the trees. The creek's crystal clear waters are cool on the feet. Follow the river downstream a hundred yards or so and you will find a nice little swimming hole. Coin-operated showers ($4 minimum) are available at Cave Springs Campground just up the road. GPS: N34° 56' 9.7434", W-111° 44' 41.3874"

We recently stayed at Manzanita. It's a decent campground, depending on what kind of camping experience you're looking for. Pros: the view is gorgeous. Many of the sites are right up against the creek, all are a short walk to the creek. You can fish in the creek and there are a ton of birds. There are spigots available to refill your water containers, pit toilets within 150 ft or so of all the sites (toilet paper is supplied by them), there are trash cans and recycling bins available near the restrooms & the camp host sells bundles of wood for $7/each. Each site has a fire ring and concrete picnic table. You can reserve your campsite online, though you'll want to do so far in advance- especially if you want to stay on a weekend. There are lots of fun hikes and things to do close by- highly recommend hiking crescent moon or west fork oak creek trails that are nearby. Cons: the sites are extremely close together and there isn't much privacy- we had a tent about 20 ft from ours on both sides of us. It's a very busy campsite- almost all of the spots were full, even on a weekday. It's very close to the main highway- 89A- which is pretty busy & loud.

The temps drop so make sure you have enough firewood.

This campground has everything you need to make it fun and comfortable. Great location, only a mile from Slide rock, 20 min from the trout farm, town multiple hiking trails.

Let me tell you honestly! This place is the best campsite in Sedona Arizona! The care takers on the campground, were absolutely amazing! The care and attention they have for the area. This place was super clean and everything was organized smoothly. My boyfriend and I were super impressed and extremely happy to have experienced this famous campsite location. The weather at the campsite was pretty chilly while I was there in May 2021. I am glad I took a portable heater, a candle lantern because it helps give off more heat instead of the electric ones, and blankets, pillows and sleeping bags. But when you go out to town or to do hikes you feel the heat or the change in temperature, which is no big deal for me because my boyfriend and I were super prepared. My boyfriend and I stayed there almost a week and within the same campground, we stayed at three different campsites. The campground care made it more exciting for us because they gave us the best spots in the campsite, ready for them...#19, #1, #11. Best spots! But honestly there were a lot of other really cool spots that I thought were the best! Even though there was not that many spots, which is why you have to reserve in way advance. I really recommend everyone to camp at least once here, but I know this will not be my last time here, I cannot wait to come back !

Lydia the campground hostess for Manzanita campground in Oak creek Canyon is a wonderful, friendly helpful hostess. The cleanliness of the campground is impeccable. Lydia and her whole family were so welcoming and informative! I would recommend this campground to anyone visiting the Northern Az. camps.

Ask the Community - Manzanita Campground

Is there anywhere nearby that I may park an extra vehicle since only 1 vehicle is allowed that will not get towed or ticketed?

    Are dogs allowed?

Yes but they have to be on a leash

Since each campsite only allows one car, is there another place close by to park a second vehicle? We have four people in the site and are meeting there, coming from other locations. thank you!

Yes, there is parking up top for free.

This is a two part review. The first, the campground itself gets 2 stars. It's close to the highway…read moreand traffic is heard driving by even before the sun comes up. Traffic is heard all waking hours. If you're idea is to go camping and only hear the birds singing, the water flowing in the creek and the wind blowing through the trees, think again. We were in space 21 next to the restrooms and there is a fan that runs 24/7 blowing the air from the "pit" out a vent pipe that runs above the roof. Fortunately, 90% of the time the wind was blowing away from us but occasionally we were hit by the stench of the vault toilet perfume. The fire pits are not buried so be prepared to use more wood if you're cooking over the fire. The second part of this review is regarding the camp hosts. 1 star (there's no 0 star choice). They are militant. After we had set up camp and were starting our fire to cook dinner, the husband/wife duo came into camp, clipboard tucked in the arm of the lady. The first thing she said as they approached was "that's a lot of smoke there". Looking into the fire pit, she said, "oh, pine needles. That's why. You should use pine cones. They don't smoke as much. But you have a flat fire, not a teepee. That's good news". The husband instructed to use two buckets of water to put out the fire. And stir with a stick to make a slurry. And it's good to keep 4-6 oz of water in a small bottle nearby when cooking to help control the fire too. Really? Next the husband said let's go over the rules. No camp showers. No noise between 10pm and 8am. No generators after hours. No loud radios. Musical instruments are ok. There was more but I don't remember it all. They made rounds in their golf cart every hour or so. Camp hosts were around the entire time we were there. I'd never seen anything like it. They were rude and insulting, treating us like we were children. I've been camping for 50 years. Not my first time around the block. But this was the first time I've been insulted and bothered so much by a camp host. They said they were coming back to host next year. For that reason alone we will avoid this campground.

It's conveniently located and nicely maintained. I really appreciate the ice and wood service they provide. The camp hosts are typically super friendly and relaxed. This summer however- I did notice that one of the male camp hosts was a little bit over the top when it comes to surveillance. He seemed hyper vigilant and I felt "watched" - which is not the most comfortable feeling as a woman camping in the woods. Other than that- we always love this camp ground and appreciate the wonderful camp hosts and beautiful natural wonders!

Be sure to fully understand the cancelation policy. Numerous reviews about the nightmare. Upon arrival, there was a slight misunderstanding, but it was quickly resolved. The location is picturesque, featuring tall trees, a serene pond, and a running creek, along with amenities not typically found at other campgrounds, such as a swimming pool, laundry facilities, showers, and a playground for children. The creek was the highlight of our trip. However, let's not overlook the reality we faced: with the hefty price tag for this slice of paradise, a few upgrades wouldn't go amiss. Our cabin's air conditioner was so loud it sounded like a jet engine preparing for takeoff, making family conversations feel more like a yelling match. There are some spider webs in the cabin. I don't mind them, but they might freak someone else out! We rented the small cabin which had a toilet which was an absolute plus. The cabin bed/mat's could use an upgrade. We just brought our air mats. They worked fine. The loft bed was comfortable according to my teen. So, the only WiFi was by the clubhouse, which I was totally fine with. Every now and then, I'd get a text coming through while inside the cabin. Very spotty. We brought our pups along and made sure they were on their best behavior since the rules said no warnings for noisy dogs--if they barked too much, guests would be asked to leave. Oddly alot of dogs barked, which is ok in my book. There's also a cute little store on-site for all the essentials and some snacks! Great location, just about 30min to nearby Sedona or Cottonwood. In summary, a beautiful escapade with a few quirks, just enough to keep us entertained and on our toes! I've read multiple reviews of the staff. We're fortunate not to have a bad experience.

These are not a place to hangout at but rather a place to sleep and maybe relax, weather pending. if you are at all claustrophobic, this could not be a place for you. The first night, I was in my head laying in bed wondering if I will be able to sleep and or stay for our reservation time. I finally fell asleep and I was fine for the remainder of our trip, it was just that first night. Steps are steep and takes a few times to figure out best way to get up and down. The steps are not in middle of peak of roof so you need to maneuver over to get to bed. You could scrape or shin or knee but we had no issues. I find Renew to be most private of the 4 options w/o residential neighbor near and hot tub off to side, not on deck. I don't know if there were any pots or anything to cook with, we ate out but did use the coffee press. Without a heater, we slept warmly upstairs, except for night it snowed, as I had window open. I wonder how well AC works in summer time when sleeping so close to roof. If you are not organized with your belongings, you will be frustrated with lack of space and your clothes. We had not issues but I could see where someone might. Renew pros -storage in the steps up to bed -mini split (was not working when we were there but did not need-never reported it) -spa more private than the other units -outdoor chairs & fire unit -coffee -blue tooth speaker (cord provided was not correct charging cord-but ours worked) -most private location as no one to one side and one unit on other-away from residents -Darin communicative cons -not enough hooks and only one that is above waist level -no curtains on front window -had 3 towels and not 4 (need one for shower & one for hot tub)
