He was hired to handle my ex-husband's estate, a very simple estate where I was the sole beneficiary and my sister, personal representative. Mr. Longenbaugh was over the top in his need to be informed of even the smallest details i.e. that I did not call and tell him I'd paid a $40 medical bill that went to collection (he had advised me not to pay any bills). He wanted "proof." I paid all bills from my personal account as the estate was insolvent. I didn't feel the need, as sole beneficiary, to provide these small details and in turn, be charged for his time. We hired him - not the other way around. In the end, I paid Mr. Longenbaugh $5,367.11 for which he provided almost no service. The probate papers he filed with the court can be obtained through the Arizona Bar Association. Beyond the initial filings, very little was done although he continued to "review file" at a fee of $300 per hour. After five months of silence, I requested a status update. He requested more documentation. When what I provided to the best of my ability was "inadequate," he wrote an exceedingly contentious, slanderous letter stating that he was filing a motion to withdraw as attorney and asked for our consent. We consented. The motion Mr. Longenbaugh filed stated he was withdrawing "pursuant to the request of its client." This is a false statement and, in my opinion, unethical. As is leaving probate open until I am able hire another attorney.

It was one of the hardest, most exhausting, and nastiest experiences of my life. My husband didn't want me to have anything, and some of what was said throughout this case was unbelievable. Through it all, Danette never backed down. She fought for me every step of the way, made sure my voice was heard, and went above and beyond in ways I never expected. From the beginning, I felt like my case mattered to her. I never felt like I was just another client. Danette has the biggest heart. She's kind, caring, easy to talk to, and a true people person. Sometimes it didn't even feel like I was talking to an attorney because she made me feel so comfortable. What impressed me most was how smart she is and her incredible memory. My case lasted nearly three years, and she remembered details that I had completely forgotten. More than once I found myself wondering, "How does she remember that?" Sometimes I felt like she was part attorney and part detective because she caught things and connected details that others missed. She always knew my case inside and out. She frequently came to court unprepared and requested numerous continuances causing the divorce to run nearly five years. What was most disconcerting is that she lied three times to the Judge while the evidence countering her claims were part of the exhibits. She has a knack for changing course which led to more new pleas, continuances and then later she would remove said requests. Her peers describe her tactics as "throwing everything against the wall, right or wrong, then seeing what sticks". Her services will cost a lot of money with very little results.
