They do a great job of keeping up the grounds and the maintenance team is amazing (and kind). I'm not sure if this is true across the complex, but the people in our building are kind and thoughtful. The complex isn't huge which I think helps keep the community feeling a little more. There are many dogs here (we have an ESA dog - in our photos) and I'm thrilled that I rarely see dog poop around here. We also love the easy access to Steilacoom Park (and walk there daily). The buildings were built in the 70s (I think) and have some quirky things about them (e.g. 15 A circuits which blow a lot) but many of the units are updating to various degrees. But I take the grounds and neighbors over a modern unit. We do periodically have to do battle with ants :-) Yes... all of the photos are really of our dog, but they show the backyard really well (and some of the many visitors we get)

All are in various stages of remodel so there is a great lack of consistency. Some have not been touched in what looks like decades while others seem to have a quick face lift to hide the neglect and disrepair underneath so don't get too commited to any photos you see of the place. Nothing of any significance gets done. Most of the focus is placed on "beautifying" things so expect regular issues with plumbing, mold, dry rot and just about any and everything you can imagine in properties that haven't been properly maintained. The manager manages several other properties and frankly can't keep up. Their current maintainence works at several properties along with her and is clearly not competent enough to do anything beyond a rush job/bandaid solution. Which has been the case with a long string of maintainence that comes and goes here. In the course of my (and my family's) regrettable 5 years at this location we've had cabinets destroyed from a faulty sink sprayer hose, floor destroyed from flooding dishwasher and their own maintainence (at the time an individual named Josh), baseboards scraped up by maintainence, counters messed up by maintainence, nails through feet from exposed strip of nails under carpet and the list goes on and on. The final straw for my family and I was 5 years of worsening mold growth that went ignored by management. Each year getting worse and worse. They finally sent 2 third party people they hired out and not only confirmed the issue, but that we are in no way responsible nor could we have prevented it. Mind you, this occured after their current maintainence (Charles) coming in for all of 3 seconds and trying to blame us and making ignorant comments of "I'm no doctor, but your kid seems fine" in response to our complaints about the mold issue. That alone should make anyone considering living here go elsewhere. Who on earth wants to end up paying for damages they didn't cause or risk their health because incompetent employees can't be bothered to do their job?! So a month later was the problem fixed? Nope! There's always a reason to drag their feet. If something unimportant needs to be done they can't send maintainence out fast enough to fix/botch the job. Anything serious, don't hold your breath. Don't learn the hard way like us! Look elsewhere.

There's typical apartment noise when you have your windows or sliding glass door open or if you're sitting out on the porch, but nothing loud, unnecessary, or disrespectful. The overall vibe of the place is pretty mellow. I've always been able to do my laundry without any issues getting an open washer or dryer. I've seen humming birds whizzing around and there's almost always a neighbor or two grilling on their porch, which smells amazing lol. We've had no issues with any of our appliances and the entire complex is well kept and cozy.

We were excited about the layout, the location, and what seemed like a family-friendly environment until we walked the grounds. While looking around we noticed several dogs running loose in different areas without any owners in sight. One dog in particular stood out a large muscular breed that appeared very aggressive. It was barking loudly, lunging toward people, and had no leash or supervision. My kids were right beside me, and I had to quickly pick them up and move away. My heart was racing the entire time. As a dad, my number one priority is keeping my family safe, especially my little ones who are still so small and curious about everything around them. I understand that pets are allowed, and that's fine, but loose, aggressive dogs in common areas create a serious safety risk. I kept imagining what could happen if one of my children wandered too close or if a dog got startled. We just can't take that chance. After talking it over with my wife, we decided with heavy heart that we cannot move into the community. We were really hoping this would be our new home. But the safety of our kids must come first. The rating is more against upper management then our manager who is nice and friendly and somewhat helpful. The maintenance man that recently came in to do some work was super good and very efficient. Some times when people get older and have lots of health issues they just need a kind word and more understanding. An incident happened yesterday that almost gave me a heart attack.
