I love this vet clinic. Amusingly, the vets, techs and receptionists remember my pets names more often than my name! But that's the way I like it. To me, that means that our pets are at the forefront of their minds. As for the allegations that they charge too much, or that certain vets here charge too much, I've never had that problem. If I'm having a cash-flow issue, they will work with me on payments and only administer vaccines or other medication if it's absolutely necessary. I honestly believe that everything they do or recommend is only for your pet's benefit. Whether you follow their recommendations is up to you, but I've found when I ignored their advice (like brushing my dog's teeth regularly) it has ended up being an expensive problem to fix (getting his teeth professionally cleaned almost broke the bank.) I cannot recommend this vet clinic more highly. Everyone who works there (save one or two grumpy techs) is very kind and caring and they love your pets almost as much as you do!

I wouldn't bring these incompetent people a PET ROCK to treat…read more Our geriatric bulldog has had a hematoma on his ear for 2 months. The treatment plan from these 'vets' is a bunch of prescriptions that are priced exorbitantly. Now the hematoma is spreading down his ear canal as well as to his other ear. When I took him for his follow up, I was told I was there at the wrong time and would be an EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT or I could come back in 40 minutes. How many ways will these people try to extract maximum dollars?? If they had lanced it, drained it & stitched it with a drain, he would be in much less pain, but we would not have had to return for multiple visits. Never have I gotten out of this office for less than $500. Too many veterinarian offices are NO LONGER trying to help animals. They are too focused on HOW MUCH THEY CAN GET for the service, as opposed to WHAT THE SERVICE IS WORTH!!

Because he receives his routine care at the SPCA, they do not handle emergency visits. I called around to several vet's in the area and the only one who could get him in same day was Magazine St Animal Clinic. Carson answered the phone and very professional, courteous, and friendly. I felt at ease at once. Arrangements were made to drop Aladdin off that same morning and go pick him up later. Carson would "work him in the schedule". I received phone calls when they first looked at him, asking me thorough questions about his health and care received up to now. I also received a call afterwards from the Veterinarian, discussing care and the treatment plan. I received the last call when it was time to pick him up. I was very satisfied with the entire visit from the initial phone call to paying the bill. Aladdin was taken care of superbly, and with love and kindness. I was even complimented on how sweet of a dog he is, and I couldn't agree more! (He really is a good dog) Thank you staff. Hopefully we won't have any more emergency situations, but if I do, I know where to go.

I was ignored and coerced to the back and then told to leave. I asked the receptionist why I couldn't stay with my dog and she continued to repeat it isnt their usual policy. I said directly that I wanted to go be with my dog. She stood there helpless and refusing to answer if I was able to walk back and also not going back to address the issue herself, effectively holding my dog hostage against my wishes. I had to open the door to the back and be met by a tech who STILL did not bring me back. Finally the original tech brought my dog back, said absolutely NOTHING to me. I asked the receptionist what was going on, if they were done, what they did to my dog, if they were refusing to do services or finish them bc I requested to be present? She couldnt answer and instead told me to pay. Pay for what? She couldn't tell me what had been done. The doctor then came out, asked me what happened and then ignored me answering as soon as his receptionist interrupted me yet again. He then said in front of me, "Is this her first time here?" To which the receptionist said she didnt know. We have been seeing this doctor for 2 YEARS and this receptionist and doctor dont even know this as they dehumanize me by speaking about me in front of me. Doctor then calls the police like the Blackest and Manest Karen I have ever seen. Dr Diggs calls police on disabled or neurodivergent people because he is a domestic colonizer. If your vet freaks out like this when you ask for transparency and to be with your pet, they are not honest and they are doing weird things. So suspicious. Do not visit this vet unless you wanna be treated like absolute shit.

Dr. Diggs is a straightforward no fluff kind of doctor and I love that. Tell me what Tucker needs to be happy and healthy. Am I right?! Two key pieces of advice that he shared: 1) only scientifically backed diets (there are options for any budget) 2) every animal needs to have a job (herding, service, agility, etc...) It gives them purpose and brings joy All star has fair prices. Not as low as the budget spots but they consistently price at or below the others. If you can afford it, his fur-side manner alone makes up the difference. The entire staff is lovely. Even after a full year of shots and a neuter Tucker still gets excited to go to All Star!

My only negative is the front reception are not very personal or knowledgeable about what you are scheduled for or in my case I dropped off a urine and left specific directions to run it for possible UTI. They left it out with no instructions for lab for 4-5 days therefore the urine was no good and had to repeat. When I picked up a new cup the front gave me a fecal cup. The front desk needs to be more knowledgeable in their job. Suggestion would be in house education classes. This does not discourage me from returning as I have been a client of Dr. Clare. Therefore, that is why I give 5 stars.

Last week, I went to a different vet for the first time in 8 years. It made a world of difference. It was half the price. It was 4 minutes down Tchoupitoulas from East Riverside, and they don't try to drug your pet for their own convenience due to their own incompetence. Last visit to East Riverside, my cat and I waited for 45 minutes before seeing the vet. I had to go out and ask if they forgot about us. They had. Obviously my cat was anxious about being in the vets office waiting for almost an hour. Understandably she was irritated, confused, and didn't want to be there any longer. This literal vet had seen my cat 2 times before, a different vet there had seen her multiple times before that, and she had been spayed there. Obviously there were records of my cat. Nothing stating she was aggressive or needed to be medicated to be seen. Because she did not, and does not. This vet had the nerve to : 1. Not apologize for having us wait while she ate her lunch after forgetting about us. 2. Call for the 1st assistant to put my cat down, go find a different assistant to replace him because "they can tell when someone's a dog person or a cat person." A different person wasn't even available, the 1st person returned, and the vet was being annoying towards that assistant. Talking down to him, almost. 3. Inquire as to whether or not my cat is "bad at the vet," even though her entire 2 years of life of vet visits is, presumably, listed on the chart pulled up on the computer. 4. Prescribe a light sedative for me to "give her before you bring her in next time." Absolutely not. Over 8 years I have brought 5 pets here. The pricing is insane. The cost of the vet down the road was a fraction of the price of East Riverside. They even have some of their old vets working there. Do yourself, your pet, and your wallet a favor and go somewhere else. Literally anywhere else. East Riverside is the most expensive vet in New Orleans.

They are also understanding of the fact that I have a tiny diva cat that refuses her appointment at least once, if not twice a year. Dr. Meghan handles our four cats with a good sense of humor and didn't fat- shame my big guy, but offered small suggestions as how to get him back on his weight loss journey, which has stalled (he lost only 1.5 ounces in a year and at 22lbs 15 oz has a lot more to lose). She's also reasonable about his IBW. Other vets have said in no uncertain terms that he should be 13 lbs. And there is no way. He's a big guy with a huge head and paws that are double the size of my other three cats. IBW of 16 lbs for the win! We'll get there! I am appreciative of the fact that they don't force unnecessary procedures that feel more like upselling which has annoyed me at other vets. Their philosophy here is to make suggestions but also realize, if it's not an issue that is causing a decline in health and happiness, just keep an eye on them until if/when it changes. I am so glad MSAH is my local vet, even if it's not cats-only (sometimes dogs can make my cats anxious but they always put us in an exam room right away).
