After reading other reviews, I realized they don't have a dedicated kitchen, but their menu didn't make that clear (or maybe I missed it?). I'd still go back for the drinks alone, just maybe after eating somewhere else.

You can clearly see the stage and the instrument sounds filled the venue beautifully. The volunteers were so nice and definitely have a pep in their step. There many of them, there to greet and bring you to the general area of your seats. I say general area, because one actually brought us to the opposite end of the row were were seated. It's ok, we were there early and just walked back around. She apologized, when she saw us walking back the other way. As expected with older venues - there are a lot of stairs to traverse if you are in the balcony - this your warning. Drinks and restrooms are not available at every level, so make sure you plan accordingly. Parking is separate and it's not a bad walk - just wear comfortable shoes, so you don't twist your ankle. Security was friendly - expect the metal detectors, wanding, emptying of pockets and searching of bags. Typical for most venues. We look forward to our next show this year!

The food and atmosphere are perfectly paired by the willingness of staff to make members feel at home, and guests are always welcome, but I can understand how some might feel intimidated by the grandeur and history of the club. Yet unlike the younger reviewer who felt slighted by some folks commenting I've never felt unwelcome by the older generations. It's just that losing one's commenting filters is common at all ages and albeit that age gaps do exist out right prejudice does not. In consideration of how many "older people" are there it is true but when you realize the elderly probably have more financial stability now than the average population at this time in history it just makes sense. As I see it Younger members are always welcome, but preconceptions of who we are as a club would be unfair. That's why we open our doors to the general public on restaurant week to share in the traditions of this fine gem of by gone times.

Unable to use outside food, organizers are extorted high fees for little return using their inhouse "catering". They charged $350 for Salsa and Chips which ran out 15-min into the cruise! Beware when booking this company for catered events. You will be left hungry and broke.

First, it is in a residential neighborhood about 5 minutes away from the Mill Creek area. There is a parking lot and if it fills up, there is plenty of parking on the street. All tickets are "pay-what-you-decide", which means you reserve your tix online and pay after the show, whatever you decide to pay, either cash, card or Venmo. There is a "check in" desk to claim your reserved tix, and a small lobby where bottled/canned water, soft drinks, beer and wine are sold. The theater itself is very small...only 50 seats, 3-sided around the stage. Because of its very small size, masks are required in the theater, but not in the lobby. Dance Nation was a powerful show about girls becoming teenagers and the struggles of wanting to stay a kid and wanting to grow up and not wanting to grow up and not wanting to stay a kid, all at once. The casting, the acting, the staging, the writing was excellent. There was no set, limited props, and neither took anything away from the quality of the show. I teared up, laughed out and gasped out loud, and raised my eyebrows a lot throughout the show. It was refreshingly honest. A well done show.

Location wise it is slightly further away than some of the prime located hotels but conveniently located on Commercial Street. Especially if you visit Portland in the warmer months then it's no issue having to walk some while enjoying the Maine weather! Hotel check in has always been a quick and smooth process with friendly enough staff. Parking is a close by attached parking garage just make sure you park in the correct spots which are quite limited honestly. Rooms are nice with a trendy/modern feel and fit with the rates you can expect to pay here. They do have a bar and some food/drink options available but go to local establishments instead. Highly recommend closely located Bread & Friends for brunch. While this is not my absolute favorite Portland hotel, for the price and quality of room/service we often return here when we are looking to enjoy Portland as locals! A hotel worth considering for your Portland trip.

They offer shuttle service to anywhere within 5 miles. Elton , our driver, was wonderful. The room was clean and comfortable. The WXYZ bar was a delight. Personally, my friends and I saw Little House's dance performance; it was wonderful! However, I will say that the three-story walk up (historic, narrow stairs included) was rough. Elevator exists, though. The space itself was beautiful and would be the perfect place for a regency ball. However, the seating layout (with four sections of chairs arranged in a square around the center stage) makes it awkward and disruptive if guests need to leave for any reason. Other than that, staff was friendly, the event was well run, and the space is stunning!

The wedding I attended here had the ceremony on benches on the top of a small hill, and the reception in the barn. The tables and chairs that are provided were very nice as well. My only complaint is that the bar area is really quite small--not great for cocktail hour. There also isn't a private space for the bridal party.
