My favourite farm in the world is Maplewood Farm as it is truly such a North Shore gem. it's wholesome, and family friendly for a fun day surrounded by animals. You can feed the ducks at the pond (most of the time), watch and pet the goats climbing around, and see horses, cows, bunnies, sheep and more. It fills me up with joy being around nature and animals in such close proximity to a very crowded area. The staff are kind and care for the animals impeccably, which makes this special farm feel community-focused. It's one of the local go-to spots that kids and adults equally love and enjoy. read more

A fantastic place to bring the kiddos. Five acres of family fun await those who stop by this farm. Reservations are mentioned on their website, but our recent visit did not require one. There's paths to walk, shaded picnic areas to hide under on hotter days, and over 200 animals and birds to view. Horses, cows, chickens, peacocks, potbelly bigs, rabbits, oh and... a ton of goats. One of our favourite parts is the "petting zoo" area where you can get up close and personal with goats who love scritches. The farm hands are friendly, handwash stations are available, and parking is free. What's not to like about this place? I find it very relaxing to be amongst the animals and on a farm when most of my time is spent in the city or glued to a monitor. It really puts things in perspective. In any case, I think it's worth a couple hours of your day to stop by and say hello to some majestic animals. read more

A lot has changed since the last time I been to this petting zoo which was at least 11 years ago. The only new updates I liked were the bathrooms. You walk in they have sinks to wash your hands right there and stalls in the back. They also have new bunnies since the previous ones are gone. The rabbits now share the enclosure with Guinea pigs. What I didn't like was you couldn't go passed a certain line in their enclosure which was the entire area to pet them. They also had a locked hutch with two bunnies inside that were facing the opposite direction so you couldn't even see. My bf had to lean over to snap a pic of them. The pygmy goats were interactive more than ever they are so cheeky, curious and love attention. I don't know what happened to the poor Icelandic horse Krokur, he seemed spooked and frighten whenever anyone would try to pet him. What surprised me is the most is the farm stunk more than ever in the winter than it did in during the summer. You also don't get a bag of bird seeds due to the bird flu this time of year. read more

Daddy daughter date at the farm!! First time here and was pleasantly surprised. There were a good amount of different animals and a few trails to walk around the farm. The farm and animals are well taken care of, we had the most fun petting the goats..so friendly and accommodating to humans. There cows, sheep, rabbits, peacocks, ducks chickens, pigs a donkey, horses and I'm sure I have missed some. It's clean, hand washing stations at two different points and hand sanitizer stations all over. It's inexpensive for a few hours of fun and see kid's smiles...the sun helped as well. This farm is located just off of the bridge in North Vancouver. It was pretty easy to get to and it have a decent amount of parking spaces. When I first found out about this place I was super excited to visit because I didn't expect the city to have something like this. We came here on a weekday and it wasn't too busy so we got to take our time to look at everything. They had cows, goats, ducks , geeses, rabbits, pigs, chickens and even some peacocks. At 1pm there was a demonstration on how to milk a cow. Demonstrator provided interesting facts about cows and history. My favorite part was getting to pet the goats. They were adorable! Cute little place to spend an hour or two with your kids young or old ;) Fairly priced, each kid was $5, while adults where$8. We also redeemed our free bag of seed to feed the birds ( we got two because it was a slow day, yeah!). Easy enough to find with your navigation system and plenty of parking right outside. It could be tricky on a weekend though, so get there early, I guess. We lucked out with the weather, too. Only light drizzle but they have indoor enclosures and places to hide under had the rain picked up. As you enter, you are greeted by many ducks. It was awesome feeding them. They also had cows, geese, donkey, goats, sheep and horses. Oh, lots of other birds as well, peacocks, turkeys, chickens and rabbits. No showing of milking today, I guess because there were only like 5 people total? Anyways, walk around their beautiful grounds and by the pond. Quite serene amidst all the animals. My family had a few hours left to spare on a warm Wednesday afternoon. My mom opened her map and saw "Maplewood Farm" - it sounded interesting, so I did a search on Yelp and read some great reviews. So we hoped into our car and headed for Maplewood Farm. Going to the farm was definitely a highlight of my trip to Vancouver. We got there around 1:30 PM (the farm closes at 4), and still had plenty of time to wander around. Only my sister and I went into the farm (it was $7.25 for adult admission and $4.50 for child admission). If you check into Maplewood Farm on Yelp, you get a free bag of birdseed! My sister and I both checked in and got two big bags of birdseed (which sells for $3/bag). The farm itself isn't too big. There are horses, cows, miniature donkeys, pigs, goats, sheep, a new baby calf, bunnies, birds, peacocks, roosters, guinea pigs, and lots and lots of ducks! If you love animals (especially interacting with them), you'll love Maplewood Farm. There was only a few other families besides my sister and me, so we basically had the farm to ourselves. We pet the bunnies, took pictures with the cows and horses, talked to the miniature donkeys, had the goats rub their heads against our legs, fed the ducks by the small pond ... it was incredibly fun. The animals are well taken care of and there are name plaques by their station. While we walked through the farm, we saw the farmhands and helpers working with the animals. When my sister and I were looking at the cows, one of the farm workers walked behind us and told us that we were taking a picture of Sofie and I could tell by the way her head quickly snapped up that she recognized her. The best part was feeding the ducks! I noticed there was another bigger pond towards the back of the farm (where you cross a small bridge to get to it) and I was blown away by the breathtaking view of the pond. A great date spot if you ever want a romantic view and somewhere to just talk! We fed the ducks and took lots of pictures. And because we stayed until closing time, we had the privilege of seeing the animals be led back into their stables/homes and fed their dinner. Some picnic benches if you want to eat, and I know they have yearly passes where you can drop by and visit the animals from time to time as well. A small playground on the outside of the farm. Lots of sinks and hand sanitizing stations, and even a shoe cleaner near the entrance of the farm! tl;dr if you love animals, you have to check out Maplewood Farm! I had never heard of Maplewood Farm until recently, when my friend mentioned it. Then a month later I received my Inspiration Pass and discovered that Maplewood Farm was one of the attractions, so I invited my friend to go with me, as I knew he would be interested in going (plus he has a car and could drive me!). Maplewood Farm is such a cute and interactive farm in the middle of the city of North Vancouver. Our group went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was quite empty. Not super busy. It was $8.51 per adult and if you check in on yelp then you get a free bag of bird seeds ! We used it to feed the ducks in the duck pond area. The farm itself isn't very big, but we saw 3 cows, 3 pot belly pigs, multiple horses, A LOT of goats, a bunch of sheeps, a few milk cows, a donkey, new born baby lambs, ponies, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, peacocks, turkeys and of course, lots of ducks! You can basically pet anything that is close enough to the fence. The ones that you can enter is the duck pond, the rabbits/ guinea pigs, and the goats. We were able to stay till 4:00pm aka closing time. Around 3:30pm the animals were slowly led back into the barn for feeding. Which we were very lucky to see because the staff just opens the gate and all the goats and sheep just run straight towards the barn. The horses start neighing and the cows start mooing since it's almost dinner time for them. It was quite a cute experience to be able to be so close with all the farm animals and interact with them. read more

Definitely a spot for the kids to poke around for an hour or so, but I wouldn't suggest driving out of your way for it because it's a rather small farm compared to petting zoos I'm used to back in SoCal. Otherwise, it's an adorable, well maintained farm. For age wise, definitely for toddlers and children under the age of 10 as it will hold their attention span the best. I doubt most teenagers will be in awe of petting zoos. Most of the animals can roam around, from the free range chickens and ducks. The goats, cows, sheeps are in their respective barns, but you can still pet and interact with them. My baby and toddler loved petting and hugging the goats, as well as the rabbits bin where they were so excited to feed the rabbits carrots readily available. Heads up that it can get a wee bit cramped in the rabbit cage with more than 5-6 children at a time due to rabbits and guinea pigs hopping all over the place along with children hopping along. They do have picnic tables in the area, but with roaming animals, would you really want to bust out a lunch?! I'm just sayin'... Free parking, ticket prices reasonable. Why did I give it 3 stars? Well, there's not extraordinary about it other than being a farm with not that much interaction with animals that you would experience at a local county fair. read more

Came here on a whim when we were out in north van picking up a haggis. It was pricey for a petting zoo, but not too bad. When we went it was just under $8 for an adult and just under $5 for a child. It's nice and well maintained. There's a good viratey of farm animals to see and the petting goats are some of the most friendly I have met. There is a big bright party room that I noticed too. The grounds are also quite pretty and a great place to spend an afternoon. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place and try to go as much as I can in the summer time. The prices are really cheap like $7something per adult. They have horses, pot belly pigs, donkeys, bunnies, chickens,ducks,exotic birds, and my very favourites cows and the adorable Pygmy goats!! You can bring fruits and vegetables to feed the rabbits I think theyre new zealand breed all white and female. And seeds to feed the ducks and birds. Next to them are some beautiful peacocks and roosters. They have these funny looking chickens with feathers that look like Fur on theyre feet so they alwys look like theyre wearing boots. There is a certain time they take one of the cows to get milked in front of an audience daily. That cow has a baby and shes the cutest thing Ive ever seen she licks your hand and is so curious and affectionate. When they bring the mommy back they cuddle and groom each other. Next is the Pygmy goats they are sooooo cute and friendly i alwys hug and make an effort to pet them all. When you go in theyre alwys so curious and come up to you. ohhh and sometimes you can catch theyre red macraw parrot saying "Hello" if your lucky. There is also a food truck area in the middle of the petting zoo where you can order hot dogs and fries and a pond area with a bench away from the farm if you want some zen time to relax. The farm also offers hand santizer and a sink to wash your hands because your hands do turn black from petting all the animals. My suggestions would be to bring sunscreen to reapply so you dont get burned like i did playing with the goats. People probably think im nuts cause I stay out there with them for 20min... yes im pale so i burn fast... I only wish this place would extend theyre hours. read more

It was such a beautiful day and we spent about an hour and a half just walking around the path and looking at all the different animals. My favourite, of course, was the goat petting area. Maplewood Farms is an excellent place to take your kids and enjoy a day out. We also had my daughter's 6th Birthday there two weeks ago and it was wonderful. We paid $90 to have a pony ride for 12 kids as well. Although you can't reserve tables for parties, there is lots of space available. The kids had a great time. Today, we enjoyed the goats, chickens, parrot and horses. My daughter can spend hours there and she especially loves feeding the ducks. Lots of parking and it's never too crowded. They have neat shows including how to milk a cow and others. I love seeing the crazy variety of chickens running around. Always a fund place to go and not too expensive. Good farm for families with young children. Children can feed ducks and chickens that roam the farm. There's a room with guinea pics and rabbits they can pet. There's a fenced in area with goats you can pet (but not allowed to feed, and there's no grooming brushes or shade, so you can just pat the goats). The cows, pigs, ponies, turkeys, peacocks and horses are in enclosures you are not allowed to enter. Nice little path around a pond. Lots of hand washing stations and there's a clean washroom. There's a playground near the parking lot that seems geared to toddler-preschoolers. 1-2 hours seems about the right amount of time to spend there with young kids. read more

The farm had many domestic animals that could be touched by children and some of them could be fed also. The only one thing was the horse riding that was booked by a private party a month ago and therefore not open to public. I would be grateful if there were more horses available for children to ride because they liked it very much and they were a bit disappointed that they could not ride. Great place to take your kids!! My son loves going here and seeing all of the farm animals. As mentioned already in the previous two reviews, there are many different farm animals here. My favourites are the goats and also the bunnies whom you can also pet. I love that they have a station set up to wash your hands thoroughly once you have finished petting the animals! My son had a really great time at the farm! We spent several hours here, and got to watch the milking demonstration. I don't know if it was just a particularly busy day, but the place was completely packed, with kids tripping over each other to get closer. We didn't enjoy the crowd, but my son got to pet the cow in the end, which he loved. We got a free bag of birdseed with the yelp offer. We had a hard time finding chickens roaming around, and the few we came across didn't seem interested in grub. Most of the food went to the ducks or sank to the bottom of the pond. Maybe next time we'll go earlier to have a better chance of feeding the chickens. read more

Are you an animal lover? Do you jump up and down and squeal at the thought of cute little duckies and bunnies? Are you a 9 year old in the skin of a 20 year old, like me? Well, never fear! Saddle up the automobile and zip on down the road to Maplewood Farm, relax and channel your inner kid! I've lived in the GVA for my whole life pretty much, and there are so many things here that I've never experienced. The other day, I visited the Burnaby Heritage Village, and had a great time, so naturally the next day I wanted to do something similar! I was a little skeptical as I walked through the door, seeing not much other than toddlers, strollers with babies in them, and parents of said children. I immediately asked the cashier, "Is this a little kid thing? Am I too old to be coming here by myself?", to which she responded "No, of course not!", giving me a warm smile and a bag of seed for feeding the birds. I paid the entrance fee (I think it was $7.25), and I started exploring. This place isn't too big. You definitely couldn't spend an entire day here, and there's no risk of getting lost, but there is plenty to see. Horses, ponies, sheep, goats, pigs, a mama cow and her calf, the like. There's also chickens running free, and you can even pet some of the animals! I found the cage of peacocks to be a strange but hilarious addition. Have you ever heard what sound a peacock makes? It's hilarious! Behind it all is a small pond, where I quickly became the pied piper of ducks. No sooner did I sit down and begin throwing birdseed, I was literally surrounded by twenty ducks. If you have kids, or just love animals, this is a cute place to visit. What made me laugh, and tied it all together for me were the two hand sanitizer dispensers mounted on the archway as you leave. Their are cows, sheep, birds, chickens, etc. The only things you can pet are the bunnies, guinea pigs, and the goats. Went here with my 11 month old today, not expecting too much since it can be hard to go anywhere with my little one. He's always seemed a bit too young to take out to places, so I wasn't sure how today would fare. My son absolutely loved it! He sat on the grass and watched all the other chidlren running around as he ate his picnic lunch. Then to the animals. They are well cared for and the roaming chickens are so much fun. He loved getting up and close with animals he's only ever seen in his bedtime stories. This is such a wonderful place to go and the price is right too, with babies being free. Adults pay $7.50. I've been here a few times with the munchkins. It's education-based and caring for the animals. So no performing animals, but lots of engagement and learning. Buy some food at the entrance and laugh at the kids pour it all out for the ducks at once. Then take them to jump in a puddle or three. read more

Great find! And has tractor in entrance that makes great photo ops, and playground next door. In some farms/petting zoos, you can't go in the enclosures. I liked that you could in this one. Goats are so friendly and cute. I felt like i was with puppies. I lost track of time spending time petting them. (They will surround you once you start petting them as they wants to be petted).
