Why I fired Maid Brigade: The service started OK with a few bumps but leveled out to acceptable…read moreperformance. Then I started noticing things missing around the house after they cleaned. To test the possibility of the Maid Brigade being the source, I counted the number of a particular item/first problem of concern before and after their visit; there were fewer of the item after the cleaning. So, after that, I moved the item to a place they did not access, thinking I had solved the problem by removing temptation; I did not call the Office and moved on. My mistake! Next, another item was nowhere to be found after another cleaning, and to give them the benefit of the doubt, I spent several days looking for it around the house, and it was nowhere to be found. Now I called the Maid Brigrade local office. The Office staff said they would ask the crew; the crew told them they had no knowledge of the item, and that was the end of it for the Office. After the next cleaning a similar item was again missing. I called the office immediately, and the response was a laissez-faire attitude - No one saw it or took it. Frankly, that is impossible because it was in a bathroom they cleaned. I told the Office staff they could not return that crew to our house. I don't know which is worse: doing the deed, tolerating the deed, or covering up the deed. The Office said they would switch us to a different cleaning crew. At first, I agreed, but as I sat with the violation of my personal space and realized I might never be able to replace the items because they were from overseas, I decided that the "ah shucks" attitude - we know nothing; we will do nothing to find out was just unacceptable; So, I terminated our service and wrote this review. I informed Marie of my animal dander allergy and set up cleaning to be completed the day before. Upon entering the apartment, we immediately noticed strong foul smell of wet animal fur mixed with scents of cleaning products. Sadly for us it was only after all our belongings were moved in, we realized animal furs and missed spots everywhere in the place. We spent Saturday night to Thursday just for cleaning by ourselves. It took 5 days to remove all the furs and dander because now each room needed to be emptied prior to cleaning. I broke out with rashes and itchy eyes, nose, swollen throat from having to be in contact with the allergens for extended periods of time, even with gloves and a mask for protection. It is the 6 th day after the move-in date that we could finally start unpacking the boxes. I found the service prompt(estimate, setting up appointment) however the performance itself less than satisfactory. I thought it was irresponsible for her to take on a job when allergy issues are involved as the level of cleaning isn't thorough enough. The sub-per performance wasted 6 days of our time; two day offs my husband needed to take from work, and aggravated my health. The whole thing set us back on all our plans made to start our life in a new location. I will never use this service again nor will I recommend to others with allergy, which could be life-threatening for some.
