My husband and I stopped by here for dinner after a bartender from another pub said it was her favorite place in town to eat. We loved everything about our experience here! It was a laid back place where locals sat at the bar while we sat at a table in the dining area. I had a Guinness while we waited for our food. We both ordered Seafood Chowder. It came out steaming hot and served with rustic bread. ! It was hearty, delicious and reasonably priced! We decided to split the "Fish of the Day" which happened to be hake. It was very good - crispy and served on top of mashed potatoes with a side of veg (carrots and a cabbage mixture). Really lovely comfort food! read more

What a Pub! MUST go visit! This place was totally unexpectedly fantastic! We popped in for a nice lunch and found ourselves wanting to order everything on the menu. Let's just say - We almost did! Let me share - Once sat down, we ordered, Arancini that were stuffed with amazing flavors! Highly suggest grabbing those if they are on the menu. We got an order of chips/fries. - they were delicious, hot, fresh and crispy! Continuing on with our culinary delight - One diner ordered the seafood chowder that was defined as a tasty bowl of goodness! Next up - Marble City healthy salad that had delicious roasted beets, quinoa, rocket, orange pear, roasted hazelnuts, pomegranate, feta & citrus vinegrette! We just can not help ourselves and we were obviously more hungry than we thought because then we ordered the Toasted special that was FULL I mean look at the photo proof of cheese, ham, tomatoes and onions! Guess what?! Yep, we are still ordering. We finished our ordered with the blacked spiced chicken Pitta! I know! - this place was just that amazing! The pitta was loaded with good tasty, chicken, baby gems and sun dried tomatoes, drizzled with - sweet chili mayo ohooo - just thinking about this makes me want to go back and eat it all again! As a GastroPub the food is first and foremost. What impresses is the concise menu packed with variety and flavorful dishes. I made the choice of Haloumi Salad with warm vegetables. Absolutely well balanced and delicious. For a main I went traditional ordering Fish and Chips with Mushy peas and crisp Fries. The fish was moist and cooked to perfection with 3 nice pieces. Lots of flavor in the peas. Would have asked for seconds. Lastly I will mention even the tartar sauce was homemade. Highly recommended. Do not miss Marble City Bar read more

If you're looking for a memorable dining experience in Kilkenny, this ain't it. However, this restaurant really hits the spot for a tired traveler who needs a break in Kilkenny. The place is multiple stories. The first floor is the tea room while the second floor is the restaurant and bar. I ordered the Irish beef which was pretty decent. For the price of the meal, I thought it was a bit overpriced, especially for beef served cafeteria style. The service was decent as well. Maybe not the fastest and not the most welcoming, but it was alright. All in all, this place didn't really impress me, but it did it's job of filling up a hungry customer. I probably wouldn't return again and would rather explore the several other options in the area. I'm glad I wrote this review recently after a visit or else I would have completely forgotten about it. read more

This was an unexpected delight! Cozy pub atmosphere and the best meal we've had in 2 weeks of Ireland eating at highly rated restaurants. Not able to give this gastro winner 3 years running in Kilkenny any more than 2 stars. Inside is nice the music is on low during the day. It's family friendly during the day. But the food isn't up to scratch for a gastro winner and I'm not impressed by the Kilkenny pint being served in a normal glass. That's a big no no When in Kilkenny you want to drink Kilkenny and you need the designed tall glass for that all so good feeling when drinking. The head need to stay for more than the first sip. After half a day of walking through this beautiful town, we stopped here for a hearty lunch. We had delicious bangers and mash and fish and chips in the bar upstairs. The sausages were nicely browned and a little crisp on the outer skins and were served with a really nice, almost smoky gravy. And the fish and chips were great too! We would definitely come back, both to Kilkenny and the Marble City Bar. read more

A girl can work up an apatite after looking at castles and rolling down hills (don't ask). So what works better than huge portions and whole lovely pots of coffee? Not much. I had the club sandwich which was bigger than my head.... well maybe not, but it was big, and by big I mean huge. And then there were the chips. So lovely and crisp and lovely.... We stopped by Kilkenny for lunch. With multiple stories, located downtown, this slightly upscale pub featured a better menu than some of the others we checked out. I ordered the "healthy option" which was an open faced smoked salmon sandwich with a bowl of carrot soup. It was basically a piece of brown bread piled high with a fresh salad and dressings, a few pieces of smoked salmon, and strips of cucumbers, & carrots. Though normally I would complain about the skimpy amount of salmon, it was perfect for my current tastes and the bread, though a dry on its own, when dipped into the soup, was perfect for a meal in from the cold. The chicken wrap with fries came toasted - panini style - and was loaded with a lot of meat. Tastes, it also came with a small side salad. read more

We were in Kilkenny for only 1 night, and arrived later than we were hoping. The hotel recommended this place as one of the few spots still open, and we're glad they did! Ended up trying marble city because kyteler's inn's kitchen was closed for the night and it ended up being a great choice! Had the lamb ribs, which were in a delicious sauce and accompanied with a nice fresh salad, mint yogurt, and rice. My boyfriend had the chicken Thai curry which was so-so. We also had the beet salad to start and the baileys cheesecake, both of which were great. Nice dimly lit pub atmosphere and great service as well. Highly recommend! read more

We had lunch at Marble city on our way through Kilkenny. The restaurant was busy but they were able to get a table for 6 together in 20 minutes, so we walked through town to kill time. Food was good staff were helpful. Space is a little cramped and you need a password to get into the bathroom. A good stop for lunch if you are in town. read more

Food was pretty good. Nice for a lunch bite. I had their chicken triple decker club and my wife had the ham and cheese toasty. We both enjoyed our meal. Their slaw was a thick mayonnaise style, which not everyone would appreciate. The french fries (chips?) are thick hand cut style. Beer is your usual Irish Macro offerings. read more

I really liked this place. It was pretty busy so getting a server's attention could be tough at times. My husband and I shared the beet and feta salad to start and it was delicious. Then I had a burger and chips for my main and it was also delicious. My husband had the roast, which he liked as well. To finish up, I had an Americano, which was the best I've ever had! The menu looks good so even with a 3.5 yelp we decided to try. Went in with the family, group of 17 and had a really good experience with the friendly staff and the food was really good. We were greeted as soon as we came in and were seated quickly into plush leather wall lined seats.I ended up getting the Chargrilled rib 8oz rib eye steak that arrived on a cushion of creamy mashed potatoes and a plump juicy roasted Portabello mushroom. It was served with a milk garlic butter which tied it all together nicely.My steak was cooked to a lovely medium rare, wonderfully crimson with no gristle. I demolished the whole lot even the fried onion 'yum yums' were an interesting garnish. I washed it down with a pint of Bulmers which tasted SO MUCH better than what we have in Australia (there was none of that weirdo bullshit piss after smell). read more

Surprisingly good food for a pub, with a friendly atmosphere of locals catching up after the day. My wife's trout special was cooked just right, and my beef and Guiness pie special was really tasty too. read more
