One was for treatment which I was fine with. The other was for anesthesia. I explained multiple times that I was not comfortable signing an anesthesia consent just in case and that I would prefer to consent only if an actual need arose. The staff told me the dentist would not even see my child unless I signed it. Under pressure and to avoid Cruz being denied care I signed the form and clearly wrote that I do not consent and that I was signing under duress. Minutes later staff returned to say the dentist still would not see him because of how I signed. This was about anesthesia for a child with perfect dental health and not an urgent or needed procedure. This experience showed me how some healthcare providers use consent as a formality rather than a genuine choice and how they can bully patients into agreeing to something they are not comfortable with. That is not care. That is coercion.

Their effort to confirm my appointment was a phone call to my answering machine the day before at 8:36 with a deadline for confirmation of noon that same day! Really! I was given 3 hours and 24 minutes to respond to their call or lose the appointment I had been counting on for 2 months. I was busy that morning with a haircut appointment and grocery shopping and was unable to retrieve or respond to their call. I also had another appointment in the afternoon. Their website requests at least 48 hours notice for cancellations, but they offer only 3 hours and 24 minutes to cancel me! I think it's a lousy business practice! They need to post this cancellation information on their bills and scheduling documents, so customers know ahead of time that they may lose their appointments after less than 4 hours notice!

The staff took the time to answer all my questions and explain everything clearly. If a service was not available in their office, they provided referrals to help me continue my dental care without delay. I only wish Dr. Yung could provide all of my dental needs. My first and only…read morevisit to this dentist consisted of a dental cleaning by the doctor that took less than 10 minutes. No cancer screening examination. Clinical hygiene issues that left me very concerned that I could get an infection from the visit. The dentist did not practice any form of hand hygiene. He simply changed his outer pair of latex gloves for new ones. He was wearing filthy surgical scrubs that he'd clearly been wearing all day long. Some of the dental instruments were severely scratched and worn. I did not ask about an autoclave or sterilization procedures, but I know from my experience working in a hospital that any instrument that scratched should be discarded immediately. You also have to change all of your PPE completely between patients after you wash your hands, even if wearing gloves. Safety concerns, quality of care and antiquated equipment all combine to eliminate this practice from future consideration for me.
