Over the past few years, this theater has gone downhill FAST. When I go to a movie, it should be comfortable, CLEAN and enjoyable. I shouldn't be distracted by the environment but it cannot be helped. *The floors/carpet need some work. *The majority of the leather recliners are ripped and/or have wear spots. *I usually have to wipe off my seat with a napkin prior to sitting down. Mr. Marcus, would you LOVE sitting in one of these theaters to watch a movie that is in need of much work? read more

On November 21, 2024, my boyfriend and I saw "Speak No Evil". (4:15p) on auditorium #10 at the Cape Girardeau, MO Malcolm Theater. We ordered a large pizza, chicken strips, and fries. We also had a large popcorn and a large drink. During the movies, my boyfriend kept feeling something moving by our food. I heard something moving around but figured it was him eating the food. My boyfriend looked down and a mouse was in the food. He jumped up and yelled, "There's a mouse in our food!". I looked over and saw the rat before it ran away. There were other people in the movie that sat above us. They asked us if we were okay and we said, "No!" there's a mouse in our food. We immediately moved to another row and left our food. We couldn't enjoy the rest of the movie because of the distraction. Plus we were worried there would be more mice. I immediately went to the lobby. My boyfriend went to the front and requested refunds for our food and movie tickets. We were told that we couldn't get a refund for our tickets. However, they could give us another pizza. The manager said, "It's that time of year and they come in from the cold because of the open field". Sir, what does that have to do with us? I am shocked that this matter wasn't handled with a refund especially with the theater having pest issues. Eventually, a refund was given for our food but not the tickets. I feel that we should be refunded for our movie tickets. I will not be returning to this theater because of the rodent issues. read more

The people here are just rude. The owner kevin seemed irritated when he did anything for anyone. i understand it can be stressful to manage a place but you took that job knowing it would be like that. asked to refund tickets since some people we were with could no longer attend. he looked at us like we were stupid. The guys behind the snack bar once again were completely rude. we ordered fries and a grilled cheese 20 minutes before the movie started and still hadn't revived them over an hour and half later. we went to check on them multiple times where we were given attitude and told it would be brought to our seats yet does it really take an hour and half to make some fries and a grilled cheese?? honestly wouldn't complain about the weight if the guys would have been a little nicer. only thing good was the lady in the front who helped us get tickets. not sure of her name but she had short brown hair and was so sweet to us! she deserve a better job with better people. read more

Reserved tickets for a $5 Tuesday showing online via Fandango. Walked in and the kiosk was easy to use and fast. The lobby was clean and the concessions seemed well stocked. There is a restaurant/bar attached in the lobby and that is something I will definitely hit up next time. Once I was seated and watching previews some other movie goers brought their drinks in from the bar which I was jealous of! I can't wait to go back. The theater was clean, large, and had great recliner chairs. read more

I am a bit torn by being here. Years ago I worked at this theater when it was Wehrenberg. Lots of memories had here. But, the new Marcus theater is looking really good!! Remodeled from top to bottom! Great theater. The new renovations make it that much better and the reserved seating is always a plus. Seats are comfortable and the place always seems to be pretty clean. That being said, there are a few gripes i have about a few of my experiences here. First off, the management needs to do a better job training their employees on how their loyalty service "Magical Movie Rewards" works. I had a $5 reward to use at the snack bar, and the employee i handed it to looked at me like they'd never seen a loyalty card before. They didn't know that I could use the card at the concession stand. Every time i've tried to use my $5 reward, it has taken at least 5-10 extra minutes for the employee to figure out how to put the info into the computer for it to credit to my order. One girl even tried to slide the card...(it's a little flimsy card with a bar code. not remotely a credit card.) Now I'm not saying this is the employees fault. They just seem under trained and the line would move along a lot faster if they knew what they were doing back there. Another issue that i've run into in this theater is the projection consistency in the auditoriums. Sometimes, the frame is cropped on the top and bottom, or the picture just simply doesn't fill out the screen like it should. Now, i know that some films are shot at different aspect ratios, but the last film I saw, it was almost as if they just squeezed the picture down and forgot to blow it up when the movie started and they just went with it anyway. In one instance, the picture was actually legitimately cropped, to the point where it actually was cutting text off the screen which was supposed to be in the film. Hopefully these issues are resolved as this theater settles in to their new ways of doing things. read more

I took my two grand daughters to see the Lion King here. This was my first visit to this theater. When we walked into the auditorium where our movie was showing, it was quite hot. Several people got up and left. A theater employee came around and told everyone that they were aware it was 'unbearably hot,' assured us they were working on the air conditioning, and told us if we could not tolerate it we could have a free popcorn. They never got the a.c. fixed and I estimate the ambient temperature to be between 82-85 degrees Fahrenheit. We sweated so much the vinyl seats were slick with sweat and we were miserable. The concessions cost us an arm and a leg and we could hardly wait for a much anticipated movie to be over so we could get outside and cool off! read more

Clean and spacious theater! It was nice to get back to the movies again. Easy online ticket & checked in through the door. Rewards program is super. On 10/08 we went to see No Time to Die, and the Concession Team Member, Tara, was a standout! Friendly, smiling, kind. She deserves special recognition. Had a great time at the movies! read more

$5 Tuesday, free popcorn for SEMO students Thursday, and reclining seats. What is there not to love.

- walked in to 4 team members playing on cell phone, asked to refund one of my tickets ( called to confirm process hours earlier). The reluctant staff walked over to the register displaying a multitude of nonverbal irritation that I asked for their assstance while the four were playing on a cell phone together. I was asked what card I used and said I wasn't sure because it was purchased on the app, but began looking. I was informed no refund would be issued with out the correct card, so I started looking at my bank account t for the transaction, I found the card and the staff member rudely asked where I purchased- I explained the Marcus app, and I was interrupted by the staff member saying " was it pay pal, or was it this or that , and I again said the Marcus app, she repeated herself more condescending then called a manager to come assist. I presented my card, and said that I figured out what card I purchased the ticket on and she said well you are getting cash now. I was handed cash, and the staff member motioned with her head to tickets on the counter and said - those are all yours. Then walked away. I went to the counter to purchase food and snacks- looking back over my shoulder to see the same 4 staff back huddled with cell phones out talking. The asst manager- left the area without a word to us. At the counter I ordered my food after my transaction I was asked if I wanted my change - l snickered and said yea I would like my money please. Staff rolled eyes and proceeded to count the money owed to me. Went to get a soda- no ice in the machine to get a soda. Completely blown away and disappointed in my experience that the CEO proudly claims to be magical during the previous to the main show. AMC has never treated my family like this. I have higher expectations for Marcus than that of what is being displayed. read more

I visit the theater weekly, if not more! I enjoy the new dreamlounger recliners and the pizza isn't all that bad either! Be sure to buy your tickets ahead of time, though! Unless you want to be stuck in the front row. I always take a blanket and enjoy the show! If you have one of their loyalty cards you can use it to have the online ticket fee waived. They are clean an consistent and they are very very fast at getting everything ready they are a little on the expensive side but they are worth every penny... If I had to choose any theater I would choose this one!!! read more

I went and watched "The Last Jedi" on December 16th 2017. It was the 2:10 showing of the 3D version. We were forced to wait until 2:15 to be seated because there were difficulties with the audio. These difficulties weren't fixed and the entire films audio sounded as if it were being amplified through a muffled phonograph horn from the 1800s. It didn't really matter though. Sound or no sound, nothing could have made that movie any better. It was feminist garbage, but that's no fault of the theater. The seats are badass, however. I'd pay ticket prices just to go and sleep there. read more

Not a great movie theater, but it gets the job done. Small, but fairly clean. Not particularly helpful employees, but they were polite. Concessions were overpriced, because this is a movie theater, right? :) Seating was good, though. Overall, I'm fairly certain this is a mediocre, small town theater, and people are just okay with it because they don't have other options. I was in town for a couple of days for job training, and was going to take our 12 year old to the movies to see Jungle Book. We planned for the one time that fit in my schedule (a Wednesday after lunch) and when we went to the theater, we were told our showing was a "sensory Saturday" showing. (Side note: Even though it wasn't Saturday?) That means there would be a large group of children who are allowed to be disruptive when needed. This is a great program that lots of theaters have, but I wish it had been listed on the site so I could have planned accordingly. As it was, we were told about it at the time of ticket purchase, but there were no other movies we could see in that time slot. It was frustrating to have to deal with a movie we couldn't see or hear well. I have no problems with the program...I just wished it were advertised better so you know how to plan. Overall, the experience was fine. But less satisfying than I would have liked. read more

I flew 1200 miles to see Star Wars at this theater with my family in Missouri. After the movie did not start playing at its scheduled time we were left to wait for almost two hours with only a "it will be working in a minute" before the movie was canceled and we were told that we could just go to a later showing, of course there were no seats that compared to the seats we bought over two months in advance for the premier theater. This chain has let me down for the last time, they have lost my business for life. read more

Last night my wife and I went to see a recently released movie that was basically sold out. No problem, we just requested tickets to the next later showing which was 7:10. After purchasing our tickets we waited an hour and returned to the theater. Our tickets were taken and we were directed to the auditorium number for our show. The problem was the movie was already playing. A Manager saw our confusion and ask to see the tickets. Our tickets were for the 11:55 AM showing, but we bought them at 6:00 pm. Not sure how there system allowed them to sell tickets to a movie that had played over 6 hours before but by then the 7:10 show was full. No other mangers were available and we were not offered any consolation for the mix-up. We left disappointed with our Marcus Wehrenberg experience. read more

Recently remodeled with comfortable reclining seats. They also added a bar and a place to order sandwiches and fries to eat with your movie. Only giving 4 stars because the food wasn't good at all when I tried a burger and fries, but I'll probably give it another try eventually. read more

Rude people were working and they got aggravated when we asked if there was a senior discount. They didn't fill our popcorn bucket all the way and as we were going to the theater we heard them talking about us. The sound was also cut out of the movie which was crazy. read more

I am here to see the movie Avengers Age of Ultron. I carry a men's purse and was asked to present the contents of my bag to the ticket attendant. I feel this is not conducive of the America that the Avengers fight for. I had to return my murse to my vehicle because I refused the intrusive search. Because of this I took a further spot back in line and did not get the seats I enjoy most and this negatively affected my movie going experience. I also noticed women with larger bags than me were not searched. This is sexual discrimination. Would you ask Thor to check Mjolnir at the door? I think not. I wish the Avengers were here to save me and I wish I could award 0 stars to this theater. read more
