We hired Drake Restoration to install drain tile along the foundation of our home, remove our old…read moredeck, install concrete deck footings, and a new deck. Unfortunately, not all of that was done. We paid the deposite check and when Austen said he was done, gave him the final check. Upon further inspection, realized he did not remove the old frame, did not install the drain tile, and did not install concrete footings. When we asked him about it, he did not address the drain tile nor the old frame. He did claim that the footings were so far back that they simply could not be seen, however, we could see all the way back and they were not they. We let him know it was buckling in the free floating corner. He did not respond for 4 days after my first message, 7 days after he was "finished" but he had lost his phone. He came back, removed some scrap wood he was using to support the deck and installed concrete pavers as support that were chipped and a cinder block that isn't installed correctly. The deck is now warped. We also noticed that he used scrap 2 by 4s further back under the deck where footings should be.

I hired the owner of this company on February 27, 2025 to do a few small jobs for me. Replace a…read moresmall retaining wall that had fallen, cut up a tree that had come down in a recent storm, and burn said tree in a existing wood pile. The signed agreement was 50% down and 50% at completion. We gave him the 50% up front to start the job. He started all the jobs the next day. Then the following day the excuses started it was his truck broke down so that delayed his return for two days. When he returned he installed the wall and threw a strip of landscaping fabric in the hole. But then said he couldn't get the rock to fill it in over the weekend, or put grass seed down with straw, and then his tractor broke down. So the third day he started on the tree cutting which turned into him cutting some other trees and leaving stump and ruts in the yard. It started to rain so he left and said I will see you tomorrow. Well we never saw him. I messaged him he said he had some medical issues but was coming to finish the job the following day on March 4, 2025. He arrived and worked on cutting the tree up and putting it in the wood pile. He then asked for the remaining balance of the money for completing the job. He said "it's the beginning of the year and he had a ton of money out right now, and he would really appreciate it". I told him I was a little hesitant to pay the remaining balance because the job wasn't complete and now I needed ruts fixed in the yard from his tractor. Ethan, the owner assured me when it was dry out he would return finish the wall, finish taking out the tree, burn the wood pile. He even offered to put mulch down (which I said I would pay for outside of the original contract but he never gave me a quote or requested any money). Then he said in addition I am going to mow for you and pick up this other pile of branches get that burned as well, NO additional jobs were completed even though he offered. I told him I didn't need all that, I just wanted the original work completed. So being a trusting individual I reluctantly paid him the remaining 50% due on the original contract. Never heard back from him. We did have some rain so I was understanding and waited to contact him. On March 10, 2025 I inquired about him returning, he said he would be there the next day. Excuses started again my Bobcat is down I'm at the shop fixing it. He never showed up and I got a text on March 17, 2025" I haven't forgotten about you". I wasn't very happy and basically told him to forget it because I really felt as if he was being dishonest he got his money and skipped on finishing the jobs. At some point he came and put part of the mulch down but we hadn't even discussed the price and he hadn't completed the other jobs I originally contracted him for?? Then I got a message on March 26, 2025 he was coming to finish all the jobs and the mulch. March 26, 2025 came and went he never showed. March 31, 2025 I sent a message when are you coming? I got "I am not positive because we are behind now and it's gonna rain". April 7, 2025 I messaged again what day are you coming he said "I'll be there Thursday", which was April 10, 2025. Guess what ???? He NO SHOWED AGAIN, this time he said "I am sorry I am working 20 hour days, I am doing everything I can." So long story short buyer beware !!! Don't get taken advantage of like we did. We gave him multiple opportunities to do what was right and fulfill his end of the contract but alas he didn't. Nor did he give us a partial refund. So we are out $3700, and we have four jobs started and not one of them completed. Too bad the owners quick and timely YELP response to my complaint couldn't have also been displayed in his work ethic.
