I first became acquainted with MH florist when I saw my neighbor getting beautiful flowers delivered five- six times a year and I asked her who is doing such a beautiful job because these flowers were incredibly beautiful. I heard really great things from a friend that used Marcus Hook Florist for her wedding. However, I have to give this place 1 star. I called and they don't do Sunday weddings any longer. Is this a joke? Nope. Saturday's are popular for wedding days, sure, I get it. That being said, Sunday has been in the running for a weekend day for events since the beginning of time and they don't do Sunday weddings? ? ? I was looking for a florist to do my wedding bouquets and centerpieces for 2024. I was referred to this florist by a colleague and looked at their reviews on line and thought why not try them out. When I initially called, I just wanted to schedule a visit to discuss what i was looking for in further details. I am not sure if the receptionist was having a bad day, but she asked for a lot of questions almost profiling. She told me someone would call me back in a few days. I received a call today that told me the couldn't assist me because my wedding is on a Sunday and they care closed. When I presented the question, why would I not be able to pick them up on Saturday? She told me " if there is a problem no one is here to fix them".??? Why would there be an anticipated problem I wonder?? Oh well, lesson learned- they never have to worry about getting my future business or referring them to any of my professional contacts. read more

We used MHF for our outdoor wedding in 2015. Their prices were so reasonable and they did a wonderful job. I worked with Kim and she listened to exactly what I had envisioned. They even delivered to my parents house, the venue and the grooms location the day of. I could not have worked with a better vendor. Marcus Hook Florists did an AMAZING job for my wedding. I went in with my family and discussed the colors of my wedding and what look I was envisioning- mind you- I know absolutely nothing about flowers. They showed me samples and colors of what they would recommend. I was slightly nervous since I couldn't see a finished product of what my bouquet might resemble or what the bridesmaids bouquets would resemble. All the flowers turned out gorgeous. They did such a fantastic job of assembling them. On top of it- the prices were beyond great. For under $700 we got 6 Bridesmaids Bouquets, my Bridal Bouquet, a throw bouquet, and 8 boutonnieres for the grooms side. My bouquet was a gorgeous combination of mainly light pink roses & white roses, and a few other flowers thrown in there (like i said, i know nothing about flowers). Several other local florists were quoting me over $200 for my Bouquet alone. Overall- top quality product for a very reasonable price- which is tough to come by for flowers!!! read more

They have always been amazing, I went there today to order a wedding bouquet and and a flower arrangement for a wedding on may 31, 2019, and they told me that they couldnt do anything.They had too many weddings and had reached their limiit. they told me to find someone else to help me. I asked if they could recoomend some one else, and they told me that i was on my own, goodbye! really! going to call them in two days and see if they can do a funeral! Due to COVID 19, deliveries from Marcus Hook were severely affected and no longer available at the time I called to have flowers delivered to the cemetery where my parents are buried. However, the employee I spoke with - Janine - offered to deliver them personally. That in itself was amazing, that she would offer to do so. On top of that, the day she went to deliver was the day following a large snow fall, making it impossible to read the ground-level headstones. Although I suggested she find the best-guess spot and lay the flowers there, she insisted on returning the next day to try again. You won't find better customer service than that. With all that's going on in our world these days, it touched my heart deeply to speak with someone so caring and thoughtful. So my sincere thanks! read more

In the world of phone and internet order flowers, I have been meaning to review this family owned store that has been in business for many years. I attended a funeral a couple of months ago and an arrangement done by Marcus Hook Florist was absolutely beautiful and touching. The deceased was a collector of clocks and they integrated a clock into the arrangement. So, a month later I needed an arrangement for something and called them. I was sort of last minute (with a day or two notice), asked for something bright and spring-like and gave my budget. They handled it no problem and delivered too. When I saw the arrangement I was floored at the presentation. It was stunning and more colorful than I would have imagined and I was really glad I opted to go with them than order a cookie cutter flower arrangement from the internet. Marcus Hook did beyond an amazing job on my wedding flowers ! I worked with Cathy and she was more than helpful through the whole process, as well as anyone I spoke with that works there. All the flowers were beautiful ! I asked if I could add my grandmothers engagement ring and a memorial charm to my bouquet and I couldn't be more happy with how they added those little touches. My flowers along with everyone else's lasted well over two weeks after the wedding, which appartly is something that doesn't happen often with wedding flowers. For the flowers for the church alter we left up to the florist designers, and they were beautiful. It is with extreme disappointment that I write this review. Based on many referrals, I recommended your services to my future daughter-in-law and son. I made the initial call to secure the date and sent a $100.00 deposit. We did not reach out to any other florists to secure the date because we assumed we would be happy with your services. Unfortunately, that was not the case. As with most couples, they had a budget, a vision board and ideas of what they wanted. It is beyond comprehension that this excited couple left in tears. I understand that budgets are increased when the reality of the prices are presented but to be told that you would not create a smaller version of her bouquet because you have a reputation to uphold makes no sense to me. Why tell the brides to bring their ideas if only to be told that's not how you do things. How dare you treat any customer in this way! Your bully mentality/sales approach needs to be analyzed before you crush the dreams of any other happy couple! I will not be referring anyone to you and when asked why we chose to take our business somewhere else, I will be sure to explain why. read more

I went here on the recommendation of a family member to order flowers for my Mother's funeral. The woman sat down with me and I looked through their pictures of appropriate items. For some of the arrangements I was told that appropriate substitutes (due to Covid) would be made. What was delivered was absolutely beautiful. Ordered flowers for my aunt's funeral. Delivery was late, flowers were just dropped off without communication. Flowers were dull, wilted, off color, and haggard. Instead of the requested cream and pink, they were just a muddied, barely discernable shade, hardly any contrast. Poor quality, no value for the money. We went to Marcus Hook Florist for my wedding on the recommendation of my cousin who had her wedding flowers done there. I know absolutely zero about flowers and the ladies there were so incredibly patient and kind with me, walking me through all the options and showing me samples and really helping me pull everything together. We ordered only flowers for the bridal party, but none for the location since we were planning an outdoor wedding. 2 days before the wedding, a major heat wave forced us to move to an indoor location and I called them in a panic to see if there was anyway to add flower arrangements for the altar. Again, the ladies there immediately put me at ease, promising me beautiful arrangements that would coordinate with bridal party flowers. They also quoted me a price at a fraction of what I thought it would be. On the wedding day, all of the flowers were even more beautiful than I imagined. I went into the shop with several photos of bouquets I liked but with no knowledge of flowers or what is available/in season. I can't say enough great things about Marcus Hook Florist - behind their modest storefront is a creative and talented design team that can compete with any of the bigger florists in town but the value and personal touch they provide is beyond amazing. Andrea and Cathy worked with me (I am not an easy client) for my twin daughters' b'not mitzvah - I walked into the synagogue the evening before and was thrilled with the arrangements for the service - Andrea captured our event colors perfectly. We received so many compliments from regular service goers several who told us they thought they were the most beautiful flowers they had ever seen in our sanctuary. Saturday evening I was delighted again as I entered our venue to prepare for our reception -- we had dozens of small arrangements, and single stems flowing down long, banquet tables seating up to 24 people.
