We were exploring the waterfront and looking for other attractions in the area to fill up our time before heading to lunch; a quick scan brought Maremagnum into view. I'm always in the mood for some shopping, so we thought it would be a good place to at least check out - so off we went. Maremagnum is essentially a large shopping mall. It's broken up into several stories with its layout being typical of other malls I've been to. The content of stores was a mix of familiar ones and others I had never heard of before. Probably the most noteworthy thing IMO is a large TimeOut market on the top floor which houses several eateries. Overall, I didn't think there was anything too noteworthy about Maremagnum - it's biggest attribute for me was that it's right on the water so you have great views. Outside of that, it seems like a good place to gather to shop and dine - I just wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

Located along the edge of the Rambla de Mar and a marina area, adjacent to La Barceloneta district, this mall is situated next to water on 3 sides, with enjoyable views of the bay and ocean. For being an older mall, it looks fairly renovated and up-to-date. The stores here don't have as substantial floor plan areas as some larger mall complexes. There are 3 stories with Time Out Market on the rooftop level. The stores are pretty generic mall retailers--mostly apparel, accessories and shoes, home goods, some convenience/apothecary-type shops, specialty food. On a weekday evening there was minimal-moderate foot traffic, not crowded. The mall is open until 10pm though some restaurants open until 1:30am. Terraces on the rooftop bars at the Time Out Market provide an elevated view of the surrounding marina and the "market" is a more upscale version of a food court with places to enjoy a drink or bites to eat. read more

I only stumbled across this mall after walking down the Ramblas and seeing the Columbus monument. I wanted to walk across the Rambla De Mar and ended up stopping in the mall just because of that. The mall isn't really anything special. Just your standard set of stores and such. The main beauty is just walking around. It effectively feels like an open air mall of sorts where you can stare at the harbor. Outside of that, this mall reminds you of others that are situated at the end of a pier. As such, this mall is just for a quick hi and bye. Don't plan to do much else here. read more

This mall is located in the Port Vell area. It is an older mall and is not something you should go out of your way for. For visitors of Port Vell, it offers a decent place for some fast food options and there is free WiFi and restrooms to use. And the shops that are there are mostly local Spanish brands rather than the usual Macy's and H&M we Americans are used to seeing. read more

They do have a bunch of chairs outside and benches to look at the sea. Definitely more for tourists. A Dunkin' and a Starbucks in one building lol. read more

Egad, every major city has at least one of those intensely commercial kind of shopping centers that serve little purpose other than scooping up tourist dollars. Barcelona is no exception. It's called Maremagnum. Like most of these overblown malls, it sits next to the water because seaside views are essential to make the concept work. Most people end up here when they've come to the end of La Rambla. The water beckons with a wavy wooden, pedestrian-only bridge called called the Rambla de Mar (photo: http://bit.ly/2pJ2BVn). The middle section lifts for passing boats hourly and suspends foot traffic for about ten minutes. The ostentatious mall is at the end of the bridge with a huge mirrored wall that allows you to see your reflection by its curvature (photo: http://bit.ly/2E0O5uW). Inside was a rather useless collection of clothing and accessories shops as well as restaurants and fast-food eateries you would likely find in any suburban mall. Big Sea! This mall is a place for tourists and desperate locals who want to have a place to have some food by the side of the sea. The restaurants that line this mall overlook the docks where all the magnificent yachts are all parked. The mall has Starbucks and other stores that you often see in the mall. The elevators were somewhat jacked, and smelled like pee. Most of the entrances to the mall weren't exactly wheelchair accessible. Ramps were awkwardly put in here and there at some entrances. My least favorite thing about this mall was that the restrooms required an admission charge! I was astonished, and attempted to go behind the escalators, but ended up having to pay a handful of euro cents to some attendant who watched me wash my hands when I was done to make sure I was doing it right. The restrooms had big posters so it looked like you were peeing elsewhere, like an alpine meadow, and it was a really nice facility, but I was offended to have to pay to pee. It's like they're discouraging good behavior, going in the restroom, and encouraging people to pee behind the wastebin in the food court or in the elevators. Jeeesh. When we left this mall, we attempted to continue walking along the walk that lines the sea. We were stopped near the corner, with a mall worker letting us know that the public walkway was shut off there for a yacht show, and we had to turn around and go back the way we came. A little signage would've been nice if they're shutting off a main pedestrian wheelchair thoroughfare walkway for a private event charging admission. We had to go back alll the way around the mall to get back to the place we were supposed to be. Gah! read more

This is basically an American-style small shopping mall with a fair number of restaurants. It is built out in the harbor, so there are a lot of nice views from the component businesses. It is quite the tourist draw (I think it was built in conjunction with the 1992 Olympics?). The primary means of access is a pedestrian bridge from near the Columbus monument. The only real negatives to me were that it seemed out of place here; this could be literally in any large U.S. city, so why do I want to spend time here while in Barcelona? Also, they have virtually no seating inside, other than that associated with Cafes. The message was shop/eat, but don't linger otherwise. Finally, one booth rented preschooler-sized cars that adults could guide with a radio controller. That area was actually dangerous for other pedestrians; my wife nearly got blindsided by a 4-year old! On the plus side, it is air conditioned and there are plenty of options for a meal. We even located a sort of American buffet place that was quite reasonably priced. I wasn't really looking for one for dinner, but it was a nice change. I'll review that separately. There are also a number of tourist-type things here, and tour buses regularly pull up. If you have limited time in Barcelona, you could skip this place. If you like shopping, maybe this is for you. A sizzling 3.5 stars; a medium-sized mall of affordable shopping. No luxury labels, though the Diesel store probably the most expensive I've seen. Quite busy, with awesome Harbour views of water as well as yachts but back to the mall. Family-oriented, with animal-themed strollers for the kids, think There were horses and something pink. I remember being open late too. Gorgeous washrooms on ground level, pretty official. Even get 10% off on certain stores with proof of "loo" receipt. read more

As far as the mall itself goes, I'd rate it as very average. They could have done a much more creative, perhaps Gaudi-inspired job at this given that it is in such a prominent location. Almost none of the restaurants will be open at noon by the way. I've deduced that lunch is probably at 2PM in Spanish culture. Nevertheless, Port Vell is a great place to visit for boat cruises, waterfront strolls, the Columbus monument, the Maritime museum and Rua La Rambla! read more

It was our last day in Barcelona and I finally found a mall! The Maremagnum is located at the end of a pier. The location attracts many tourists mainly because of its location. It is right at the end of the famous Las Ramblas street. It was quite a trek getting to the mall, but once there it was worth it. There were many local shops of a variety. Other than the mall being really crowded (and we went on a Sunday), the mall okay. There were 3 floors, and the top floor had something similar to a food court...except that nothing seemed to be opened. If you want to go shopping for products you may not find in the states, then this mall was pretty good. read more

This was a very elegant shopping center with prices to match. It was clean and well kept with lots of different stores and places to eat. It is in a very nice harbor location convenient to the hop-on, hop-off buses. There are a wide variety of restaurants, but you will spend a bit more than average here. There are better shops and restaurants in Barcelona, but these are all conveniently packed in together. read more

The Maremagnum is basically a medium-sized mall located directly on the city harbor in Barcelona. It's nothing extraordinary but it has free wifi, AC and free restrooms on the 3d floor with seating area & power sockets. The assortment of brands is pretty underwhelming, but it has a handfull of food venues including a starbucks on the 3d floor. Even a mediocre mall shines nicely when it's located on the waterfront. read more

Imagine you walk for two miles to the sea. There at the end of a pier, you see a glistening modern building, it's varied curves and sharp angles suggesting Frank Lloyd Wright's Spanish Guggenheim. So you drift closer. And you enter its cavernous underbelly on a sleek, silent escalator. And you find yourself in a shitty, crowded mall. read more

The mall is okay. They don't have many shops that I was interested in, but I loved the souvenir shop & the little boutique by the restrooms (the paid ones). They have food (Mcdonalds & steak) but the beauty of it all is that its on the water, so you have the beautiful view & the peaceful scenery around the port. It is located at Port Vell. There are a lot of tourists and local alike shop around and hang here. There are some decent brands but mostly low end mall-brands. It is nice to kill some time and enjoy AC inside since most of the sites here are outdoors without any shades. read more

This nice mall is a short walk down the pier. Inside are several nice shops and some restaurants with beautiful outside seating. My family enjoyed it as a couple hour diversion after days of siteseeing. read more

This restaurant, famous for the huge papier-mache lobster that enthrones it, is right along the quay, so make sure you get a seat by the window so you can watch the boat activity by sea. Very good seafood dishes, always fresh. Of course it is on the expensive side, and it's not just the huge lobster you're paying for. It is a very old tradition of Barcelonian cuisine, and at least once - if only for a plate of calamari - you must try. read more

Very beautiful water and pier, a short walk from this to the shopping center, with various eateries. I was surprised (and very disappointed) to see it in the tradition of American malls. We went toward it with the sole interest of seeing some Spanish slice of shops, but no: instead, nothing you see here will be new. Despite the sameness of interior, the exterior, especially on a warm night, is magical. We walked back to our hotel, I coaxed my husband into getting a gelato, ducked into a Desigual from within, checked out some restaurants, held hands throughout, and gazed at the water with huge luxury private boats dotting it. As if by sheer force of will and spontaneous imploding, a boat pulled out of nowhere. The boat's name emblazoned on the outside? Nirvana. And I must admit: standing by the edge, gazing out at the vista, sun setting a ball of orange brushing the sky, it felt like heaven. read more

if it's a shopping mall you're looking for in Barcelona... then this is the place. a huge 3 story shopping mall with free wifi. it's beautifully located at the end of the pier. Lots of options for shopping and eatting with nice views of the water. i only stopped in here to use the bathroom and get a cold drink and ok maybe pop into a store that was having a mega sale. read more
