We got the birria tacos ( The BEST I've had aside from my moms lol) but they are really really really good we also got the seafood and shrimp enchiladas and they were also good but the birria tacos was our favorite dish the horchata is really good I got the tamarindo juice but it was just okay but it was good not as good as the horchata but it was good. Let's just say we been on the road for the longest and we been eating trash food but this restaurant right here reminded us that there still good food out there. Mucho bueno!!! We are from Tucson with very authentic Mexican food. The flavors tasted at Margaritas equalled and surpassed many offerings from home-60 miles from the border. As good as the food was, what really stood out was the rapport with the guest by the house staff. Well, the reviews were pretty good so I thought it'd be a good stop. The waitstaff was friendly but not attentive. The place was clean enough. However, the food was super bland. Very much Midwestern no flavor fare with a Mexican theme. It wasn't gross by any means, but wasn't good either. It wasn't memorable BUT it was good enough that We finished our plates. Green Chile soup was yummy- this is not loaded with chunks of pork, it is a smooth, great flavor soup. I'm a broth girl so I loved it. The few pieces of pork that were in there were very, very tender. Guacamole salad, also yummy. Queso dip was soupy- not so good. Terrible! I came to Ogallala for a visit and went to Tres Margaritas for dinner. I ordered a combination- enchilada, taco with beans and rice. The beans were runny, the rice was dry, the enchilada was too soft and mushy and the beef taco was absolutely disgusting. Needless to say, my stomach felt heavy for a long time. I'll be glad to get that food digested. $20 for that crap! I'll be glad when I get back to California where the Mexican food is so much better. read more

This little restaurant is part of the Tres Margaritas chain that you'll find in Colorado and a few places in Nebraska. It's located in what used to be a fast food restaurant, but make no mistake, this is a full service, sit down restaurant. On this visit, the place was full; customers seemed to be a mix of tourists and locals, gringos and mexicanos. I had visited--and liked--this restaurant when I passed through Ogallala a few years ago. It was just as good on this visit. My hotel (Lonesome Dove Lodge right next door) provided a 10% discount coupon. Prices are about average for a good mexican restaurant, but the portion sizes are enormous. Just like most of the other customers, I walked out with a to-go box. My carne asada burrito was delicious. The tortilla chips were fresh and warm, and the salsa was chunky and spicy (no sign of the watered-down soupy salsa that a few other reviews mentioned). read more

Loved margaritas! Had one of my top 3 Mexican dishes ever there, the Camarones a la Diabla. It's spicy but has great flavor. The Camarones Portuguese is shrimp stuffed with ham and cheese and wrapped with bacon, it was great too! Highly recommend both but if you don't mind a little spice I'd go with the a la diabla. This food is delicious and reasonably priced. It was an easy walk from the Travel Lodge. The free salsa was delicious and we ordered guac to go with it. I got a delicious vegetarian garden fresco (?) burrito. It was enormous. I was surprised that the particular burrito I ordered did not come with cheese and sour cream, but the veggies in it were delicious and cooked perfectly. The menu didn't say the dairy was in there like I had wrongly assumed but it was still very tasty. This is one of the only places in Ogallala that offers vegetarian plates that aren't a salad so if you want veggie or Mexican food, Margaritas is a great stop! read more

We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant in Ogallala. The entrees were seasoned just right. The stir fry was laden with plenty of fresh sautéed veggies. It was Placed on top of a bed of rice With a surprise of white cheese on top of the rice. The soft tacos were fresh & light. The wait staff was attentive & courteous! Stayed at Holiday Inn for one night in this town...had no idea where to eat...I'm from Tucson Arizona so, had my concerns about ordering Mexican food in Nebraska...we ordered take out-our food was excellent...place seems to be run by Mexicans...always a good sign for Mexican food...we ordered mild dishes...which was perfect for us...I would say that mild is between medium and mild...shrimp and chicken were both excellent and good sized portions...not at all greasy. read more

I've been to this restaurant in the past and it was pretty good. Came in to enjoy some Mexican food yesterday and was shocked at how dirty it is. There was trash outside of the door, the door was dirty, trash inside the vestibule, all the glass was dirty. I entered the restaurant and the checkout stand had actual garbage on top of it. The hostess lead me to my table and the floor was covered with trash and there were flies buzzing around. I sat there for a minute and decided I would leave. Probably won't be back. If this much of the restaurant is dirty I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. No thanks read more

Horrible experience. After a long drive I was very tired. I just wanted to eat and go to bed. Got there the wait was less than 15 minutes being how busy they were. That was nice. The issue started once they seated us. Took forever. Pretty much ignored us. I just ordered water to drink and that was the only glass of water I saw. No refill on salsa. We had to hold the cup up several times trying to get the servers attention. Food took a while but that happens. My food was warm at best. No tortillas so waited on them. Picked at the rice and beans while they were warm. Meat had no taste really and was cold by the time the tortillas showed. I'm Mexican so eating without the tortillas doesn't happen. I complained about the food and said just take it away. I had to argue that the food I ordered was so bad I wasn't paying for it. My wife ordered a quesadilla and it was even warm not hot. Paid for that but shouldn't have. She had eaten some of it. I was surprised as she is the picky one. I normally eat about anything but this was horrible. I wouldn't give 1 star but that's as low as this goes. read more

Driving through NE on our way to Colorado, we decided to stop for Mexican food. I was appreciative as the restaurant was taking COVID precautions seriously and every other seat was blocked off and all of the staff was wearing masks. I ordered a vegetarian burrito; the veggies were sautéed to a nice crisp, and they used black beans, which I loved. My boyfriend ordered the steak chimichanga and said it was cooked perfectly. This is by far the absolute worst Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at. After a long 10 hours on the road, we just wanted a decent dinner. We were staying at the hotel next door, so based on convenience, we chose to get take out from here. The food was stone cold, I did not receive my flour tortillas and the hot sauce we asked for was not included. The Mexican pizza was soggy and the two entrées were horribly bland. I rarely use salt but it was the only thing making my chicken dish somewhat okay, had I received my hot sauce, that may have helped. It's pretty hard to mess up Mexican-American food, but this place managed to. Would have had a better meal from Taco John's for a lot less. So disappointing. read more

We stopped overnight and needed somewhere to go eat for dinner. I'm a gluten free vegan and finding stuff on the road can be extremely challenging. Everyone here was very nice and the menu was well labeled with "healthy" and vegetarian options which is always insanely helpful! I enjoyed their black beans which were perfectly cooked and not overly seasoned or "lardy" the chips and salsa were also very good as the salsa tasted fresh! Also you can't beat the prices! We were overall very satisfied with this encounter and in the very unlikely event I'm ever back here I would come back in a heart beat! read more

Easily my favorite restaurant in Ogallala. The food is always good. My favorite dish is the vegetarian expresso burrito. I also really like the spinach enchiladas and the quesadillas. But I've never had anything I didn't like. The staff are consistently friendly, courteous, and helpful. And they genuinely seem to enjoy serving the customers, which adds a lot to the ambience.
