Quick and friendly service. Picked up my order to go of general tsos chicken luncheon that came with soup and eggroll. Hot n sour soup was very good. and an order of crab cheese wontons. Got back to the hotel and it was dried out. Hardly any sauce on the meal which left a pastey feeling in mouth. Food did taste good though. Yum yum yum here I come. What a great way to start my day by having lunch at the Golden Village. A Chinese family owned restaurant. I walk in and I'm greeted right away by the owner and he had a seat ready for me. Prompt service is always appreciated and he was right on top of it. I had hot tea and it was brought out In a mini teapot along with a sipper cup. My Wonton soup was superb in texture, taste and presentation. Now comes the main lunch. I ordered the sweet & sour chicken with fried rice and a vegetable egg roll. Perfectly cooked white meat inside a flavorable breading with a light orange sweetness of sweet & sour sauce and nice BIG crunchy pieces of onion and green peppers. The presentation of this delicious lunch is so inviting. I just love the partition plate, so colorful and large. I didn't know what to eat first. Soup it is! The owner likes to up a bit and I'm guessing maybe a little encouragable. Don't be afraid to say hi to Steve when you go in. Thank you Steve for the spectacular customer service! There really isnt that much to eat in this town, So I was happy this place was open. I was not warmly greeted. I asked if I could order carry out and see a menu. Again, not the warmest answers or looks. I had the General Tso's chicken and a couple egg rolls along with an order of chicken fried rice. I waited outside and returned when the 10/15 minuets was over. My food was hot and there was plenty of it. The chicken fried rice was amazing, the egg rolls were well over fried. The General chicken was bland. Maybe the fella was just having a bad day that day? I will try it again the next time I find myself in town. read more

On the road from Wisconsin to Colorado, we decided to stop in for gas, a rest, and some food. The location: Easy to find, kitty-corner from the other Chinese place in town. Dirt parking lot, plenty of space. The place: Decent-sized. I'd say they could probably seat 40 people comfortably. And the seating was comfortable. We were the only ones in the place for our early-ish dinner. My guess is they do more take-out business. While we were there for 45ish minutes, I think 3-4 people came in to pick up their orders. The service: It looked like just the couple who runs the place. The woman who took care of us smiled and joked around with us. She even laughed at my silliness which I appreciated. She kept us well-hydrated throughout our meal and was very kind. The food: Chinese food for vegetarians is usually a problem. Not the case here. There's a good selection of vegetarian dishes. We shared crab and cream cheese wontons (okay, you caught me, I'm pescatarian) and sesame tofu. Everything came out HOT. The wontons were out of this world. Crispy, light, and, of course, delicious. The sesame tofu was fantastic. The tofu itself was Crispy around the edges and creamy in the middle and the sauce had a good amount of kick. Exactly what we were looking for. read more

Very friendly place with delicious food. We had steamed dumplings and vegetable lo mein. All good!

Everyone was so nice! Excellent service! Place was busy at 7pm on a Sunday night and food was quick, great friendly service, good food too. The meals comes with fried rice by the way. I got chicken and broccoli and was pleased to see a good heap sized portion of the fried rice with it. Dumplings are good too. Then even filled up my water bottle for me. This is a classic Chinese/American restaurant and well worth a visit. Though rather non-descript on the outside, it is bright and welcoming on the inside. Very well kept. The owner was a great jokester. He made it fun. The menu is as extensive as any comparable restaurant and the food was fresh and perfectly prepared. Not too oily, as can often be the case. The fried potstickers were as good as any Chinese restaurant, at least outside of New York or San Francisco. I love mu shu, but rarely eat pork, so I was delighted to get mu shu chicken. Four pancakes were already wrapped around the delicious filling, I just had to add the hoisin. Stir fried vegetables with tofu rounded out our selections and it had a nice kick to it. This is not your typical hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. Well worth a visit. read more

This was the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. We ordered take out and the person on the phone was pleasant and the food was hot. The sesame chicken was fried as hard as a rock. The sauce was just thin sweet and sour sauce with a few pepper flakes. The egg drop soup was a strange pinkish orange color and I passed on trying it. The egg rolls were soggy. Small, simple, family owned and ran Chinese restaurant. I call in my lunch for pick up during the work week. 9/10 my pick up orders have been on time, my order has been correct and, of course, the food is always tasty. Now, if you do plan on dining in don't expect this to be an express or speedy service. This establishment is family ran. Pretty much you're going to see a husband and wife working/running their butts off to serve and please you while the one and only cook in the back is keeping up with the demands of incoming orders. So, if you do decide to dine in, bring a friend, family member, spouse to enjoy good conversation with while you wait. Because the wait is always worth it. 5/5 read more

Stopped in this small town on my way from Michigan to California. We decided to stop in here because the restaurant that was suggested to us (Peking China something) was closed for holiday. We were a little apprehensive at first, but that quickly changed. The host / waiter was very nice and possibly the owner? Either way he made us city-folk feel warm and comfortable in his restaurant. We started with a large bowl of wonton soup. This was plenty for the both of us. It had a delicious broth with about 8 wontons. They brought this out before our meal so it served as a nice appetizer! I ordered the chicken and broccoli. I love chinese food and I always get this where they serve it. I was not disappointed at all. It had more chicken than broccoli and a yummy sauce. Served well over the rice they provide, which is a combo of rice and eggs. My boyfriend got the orange chicken. This was also very scrumptious! It was coated in the orange sauce with actual pieces of orange. The outside of the chicken was crispy and the inside was tender. I really like it this way! It was also served with a big plate of rice. When I ordered another side of rice he said that they wouldn't charge us; that you get as much rice as you want! Oh the charms of Nebraska! On our way back from Las Vegas we stopped at this restaurant on August 26th. At first sight I wasn't too sure of this place because from the outside it didn't look like a place that I would go to. I had not check the reviews. I am sure glad that we were hungry and chose to go in. It is truly a family restaurant with the wife as the cook and the husband as the host and server. When we went in there was only one other couple and the kids were sitting at a table doing their home work. The service was pleasant and efficient. The food was delicious and fresh. The price was extremely reasonable. While there I noticed that they had a lot of carry out and by the time we left, it was almost full. If the location wasn't sor far from Omaha I would go there more often. If we ever stop in Ogallala or anywhere within a hours drive, I will go there. read more

We were on a family road trip and when there's 5 hungry people in a car you don't want to keep them waiting. Not wanting fast food we stumbled upon this place and figured it was our best option. The host was pleasant, funny and very personable and knew all of the costumers coming into eat that night. We ordered enough and he kept conversation between tables while we waited for our ride to come back. The food was fantastic. We were in Big Springs for family business and decided to try some Chinese. Steve - the owner- waited on us. All the food was delightful. I ordered food without MSG. I had Crab Rangoons, 1/2 an egg roll, Chicken Lo Mein and then some Beef Curry. All with white rice. It was wonderful. There were five of us and everyone was happy with their food and the service. As a local resident, best Chinese in town. Strong points are spicy dishes but as some point out there are some duds, particularly the battered & fried chicken bits. Hot sour soup included with lunch and is wonderful on cold days. It's a mom & pop bizness, so if you require quick service and there are lots of cars in the parking area, best head south for fast food. read more

We are traveling the US and are spending one night in Ogallala NE. Because of Yelp reviews we decided to try this place. First, DON'T GO IF YOU ARE STARVING..... it is a small family business and they are VERY BUSY - especially with take out orders!! She cooks and he takes care of the Dining Area, Phone Orders, and Take Out. They would do well to hire someone to help out..... looks like their children help some but they really need an extra adult out front. He is on top of everything but heard him APOLOGIZE CONSTANTLY for taking so long. Also mixed an order up when we were there and we heard him yelling at someone in the back.... hope it wasn't his wife!! It doesn't look like much outside but is clean and roomy inside. Now for the food...... I was happy that they had Plum Wine which I love with Chinese. We ordered the Fantail Shrimp for an appetizer...... did not come with any sauce so we made a sauce of the sweet red and the hot yellow that was on the table and it was okay. We then shared the Orange Chicken, Veggie Egg Foo Young, and Cashew Chicken. We also got Steamed and Fried Rice. Guess I should say that we are from California and eat out a lot so that may have tweaked our opinions..... Orange Chicken was DARK MEAT...... our fault for not asking first as we are used to only having it made with Breast Meat. We didn't eat much of it. The sauce was wonderful though and they serve it with real orange pieces! Veggie Egg Foo Young was okay but the sauce they served with it was WAY TOO SALTY!! Not good at all!! Cashew Chicken was also okay but we have had WAY BETTER in California. At least the meat was mostly white Breast Meat. It just didn't have that fresh flavor that we are used to. Our meal came out in spurts and he apologized for being slow. He said he was JUST TOO BUSY!! We agree and would suggest he get some help..... Would we go here again? Probably not...... read more
