STEPH JUDGEMENT: A special theater for special movies. The hubby and I'd been here a couple of times, but it had been quite a while. Driving all the way up here from Long Beach to watch just any movie is not an option. When we found out about Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, though, a 4.5 hour extravaganza where they showed the two entire movies back to back, we were in! We had a bit of time to kill (haha) before the movie so we went to the bar to hang out, relax, and take in the atmo (fun decor and merch, vintage arcade games). The bartender was nice and efficient. Once the show was ready to start we headed up that long escalator to the floor with the theaters. It had been so long I'd forgotten all about the wacky, schlocky, awesome sci-fi and horror vintage foreign movie posters that lined the hallway. Almost worth the price of admission alone. Another thing we love about Alamo are the collection of shorts they play before a movie that's related to the upcoming feature. In this case it was the 70s Kung Fu movies that inspired much of the Kill Bill movies and they were so much fun! I hadn't seen a lot of this footage since I was a kid (and the Chemical Brothers video for "Get Yourself High"--look it up, you're gonna love it) so it was quite a treat. I hadn't seen the movies in a long time too so there were a lot of details I'd forgotten about, making for a delightful re-watch. The 4.5 hours flew by, and we left with smiles on our faces.

This is one of the best places to see a movie. It's expensive. But it's great. Bar area for before or after. Service in your seat. Eclectic shorts playing from the moment you get to your seat. Many food options. I got hummus with pitas and veggies. Not the best i've had, but the best i've had in a movie theater. Love this place!

Ooph adding QR code food and drink ordering really does away with the foundation of the Drafthouse experience. Now everyone is on their phones. Went to see a movie yesterday and it was nothing but distractions with all the screens lit up throughout the movie. Sad as I've been coming to Drafthouse for years and was exited when they opened in LA but I doubt I'll be back with this new business model.

It was one of those moments, one where life seems as if it's a movie. It started off as any other surreal cinematic night. It was a dark, cold and quiet night and I was slithering around the grid of Downtown LA, sloppily entering and exiting various bars, dive and otherwise. It was an artistically romantic but actually pathetic type of night. However, fate & synchronicity would interject herself in this, uneventful evening. I, in a stupor would step off a curb to cross the street, just as a truck driver was veering toward me, too busy eating his Italian Sub to notice me or anything related to driving. Both he and I caught eyes, a millisecond before his impact beat my reaction. I was doomed and I tell you my friends, you do see your life flash before your eyes at the moment of death. However, this night would not be the end for yours truly because just as I was about to realize all the wonders of existence, a hand grabbed my hoodie and jerked me back toward safety and destiny. Interestingly enough, the lady who saved my life was named Destiny. In my trauma and adrenaline filled state I was vulnerable and scared, I gazed into Destiny's eyes for reassurance and the universe spoke back to me. Just then some passerby's, who saw the whole ordeal and who were so ecstatic that I was alive, gave me their movie tickets to the theatre they were just headed toward. I looked down and saw that it was 'Kill BIll: The Whole Bloody Affair,' my second favorite movie of all time behind Pulp Fiction. There I was with two tickets in my hands and Destiny staring me right in the eye. We went to go see that 4 hour 45 minute movie and in that time realized that we were the soul mates that both of us had been searching for our whole lives. Not to mention, both of us found a cool little theatre in the middle of DTLA that has drink and food service to your seats. Stay searching for Destiny and a good movie my friends....

Went here on a Saturday night. This was our first visit. There is a lot to like about this venue. The seats are very comfortable. The screen seems a good size for the room and you can order a full meal and. All kinds of beverages, including alcoholic. They have popcorn galore with all kinds of difference add-ins. The menu is pretty much what I would describe as bar food. It's hamburgers, fries, nachos, chicken tenders, pizzas, and such. We got the bottomless popcorn, which was huge and did not need to be refilled. That would be silly. Also order the mozzarella stick and the boneless wings. They have a great selection of beers, which we sampled. Very cozy setting. The downside to this was the explanation that was personally delivered to us at the trailer point of the show. It was a little loud and upfront, and I don't know. I guess they don't want people to use their phones or they're going to shoot you. The ironic part of this is of course that you have to order your food through the phone. As someone who works on phone applications all day, I have to say their app is pretty poor. I did have to set it up but maybe if I come again it's going to be able to just bypass all that payment page headache because it I took 10 minutes to set it up. I'm also unsure why they needed my email and phone number except for marketing which I definitely hate and you could not take that out so that was something I don't like. You shouldn't have to give up your privacy to order food at any venue. I missed a few trailers so I was a bit anxious about about its failures. We also got to hear everybody else get the loud spiel delivered to their seats. There is a bar upfront. And apparently you can also rent DVDs. That might be nice for someone who lives in the neighborhood. The service during the show was very well done and as unobtrusive as it possibly could be. If I lived closer, I might go here again, but as it stands, I don't think I have a lot of reasons to come back. The food was fine. But you're not coming here for the food I'm assuming. Contrast this with IPic where the food at least used to be much better. I think the prices are reasonable for what it is.

We visited on Black Friday to see the new Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man. The theater going experience is amazing. We were directed to get our digital tickets scanned in for physical tickets, and we were off to theater 1. Inside the theater, we tried to order via QR code but the reception must have been spotty, we wound up ordering with the server. Excellent service all around, we ordered a cocktail, a beer, and a pizza, everything was delicious. Total was about $60 after taxes and tip. All part of the experience. We parked across the street from the plaza for $15, but probably should have parked inside plaza to get validation. We'll definitely get back over to Alamo, the movie experience is special. Check it out

I met up here last night with a few friends to have a few drinks and celebrate a friend's birthday. They have a drag queen bingo night that my friend wanted to participate in. I ordered a glass of stone ipa, which was light and refreshing. I did not order food, but the people around me did and it seemed visually ok for movie theater food - can't really say much about the taste. The parking was stressful. Getting in and out of the parking garage was a mission. They do however, offer validated parking.

I love the Alamo! Definitely a very unique movie theater experience with smaller and more intimate theater rooms, full on restaurant style menu, and top notch service! I love going here for premieres and to be honest whenever I'm craving their food- their truffle herb parmesan popcorn and chocolate chip cookies are amazing! Also there are seasonal and movie specific menu sometimes which are always fun to try. They host a lot of movie marathons and other events that I have yet to check out, but it feels authentic to the cinema crowd which is great. Parking is validated at The Bloc, sometimes you have to pay $4-5 after a movie which honestly not too bad!

always a good time in this chain theater establishment.m, especially because this location has a mini museum with the props, outifts, etc of known films here, like from the marvel franchise. Not a marvel fan, but cool to see a bit of film history in a theater as it is a good waiting area while you standby for your friends in the bathroom, haha! food was okay. cookie milkshake was just a vanilla milkshake with someone crumbling a cookie with their hands to then sprinkle on the top... bro what? $9 btw. I was so underwhelmed with the food and the server could see that. The servers were really on it ensure that their volume was kept to a low...as well as their physical stature when going through the rows. the food was poor quality at this location compared to other ones that I have been to. and parking is best at a nearby structure, so many be a bit pricey. I liked that they do movie marathons for month with a new theme each time, but maybe before coming, get some food outside.

April 20, 2025 |The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Downtown LA is a super cute & unique movie theater with friendly customer service! Movie-Lover Hallway: I immediately loved walking through the halls and seeing all of the framed movie posters from different eras, as well as current movies, very cool! Definitely leave time to look at all of the posters, because there are plenty, even movie memorabilia! Silence, Please: I love that you write out your order from the menu with the pencil & paper provided, and afterwards, you press the button & a server arrives! After all, silence is key during a movie and there were no interruptions with talking throughout as our servers picked up our orders! Loved it! Food | Drinks | Snacks: Friends let me taste their drinks! The wine was perfect & the other drink was strong! Ha! Funny note, I wrote out my order, thinking it was freshly baked cookies... but it turned out to be packaged cookies in a bag, which was still delicious! Hahaha! Seating: Unfortunately, the reclining seats were peeling in a major way. The seats definitely need to be updated. Still cozy! Customer Service: Super friendly throughout! I was even given a unique lollipop when we checked in, as it was the last one! Overall: It was a fun experience, my friends, and I enjoyed the movie, a Norwegian film w/subtitles and I did enjoy my experience at this Theater! However, seating is super important while watching a movie and the seating needs to be updated in a major way! Thanks for the experience!

Alamo Drafthouse is hands-down the best movie experience out there. Once you walk in, you immediately feel that this place was made for real movie lovers. What sets it apart is their zero-tolerance policy for talking or phone use--it's strict in the best way possible. You can actually enjoy the movie without distractions, and that alone makes every ticket worth it. On top of that, the food and drinks are excellent. Being able to order right from your seat while still catching every scene is a game-changer. The staff always nails it--quick, quiet, and friendly. We had Truffle Parm Tossed with black truffle, herbs, and popcorn. And those pre-shows? They're awesome--no annoying ads, just fun and clever clips that fit the movie perfectly. It's one of those details that makes you realize how much thought goes into everything here. Plenty of parking - cost $4 and great customer service. Enjoy Be A Proud American Peace/Love

I signed up for the Season Pass this year so come here more frequently. But in doing so, been a bummer seeing the inconsistent quality of service/execution and theater quality. See submitted recent photos showing seats torn to shreds. How does this even happen? Menu has changed a bit and service is touch and go, depending on who you get. I'll still be supporting, but really hope they keep their eyes on the details or I could see them losing customers

    Do they have baby day?

This is not the kind of movie theater to which you'd bring a baby.

    Can I bring my dog?

The last time I was there, they had a sign on the door that said only service animals are allowed.

    What is the best food?

Popcorn with real butter (bottomless), the Buffalo cauliflower bites with vegan ranch (don't bother with regular ranch - the vegan ranch is superior), and their flatbread pizzas are quite yummy. The fried pickle spears are good (and I'm a pickle… Read more

    Is it handicap accessible?

Yes. They offer ramps throughout, two handicap stalls (one with a sink and one without), and if you park at the bloc parking structure and take the 4th floor Alamo elevator, you can get in and off from 2R (listed on the elevator menu inside) instead… Read more

Are dogs welcomed? Or only service dogs?

    Only service dogs.

    Is there bed seating?

No, but they do have reclining seats.

Are there any non-alcoholic beers available?

I believe they have Lagunitas hop water at the bar in the lobby.

Do they accept cash and can tickets be purchased in person?

Yes, tickets can be purchased in person. Cash is accepted for ticket purchases, but in the theater, they ask to swipe a card before the movie starts if you plan on ordering food or drinks.

What age does this movie theater hire?

they serve alcohol. so probably 18+.

    Where is parking nearby?

Parking is in "The Bloc" and is validated by Alamo (but, it will cost you about $3-4 for a movie duration). I usually enter from Flower St.

Can anyone recommend alternate parking to the attached garage ? Thanks

Consider the metro right across the street

Are proof of Covid vaccinations still required ? I can't reach anyone in their customer service phone? Received email from Alamo. They replied it's no longer required

Yes, as of 2 weeks ago

How do you handle people doing garbage things like constantly looking at their phone and ruining the movie for others?

They get the boot, they don't mess around. Theaters are small enough that they can see your phone lighting up bright! Boom! You're out! They warn you in the beginning so if you mess up, you're out!

Is there validation for the alamo? If so what is the average cost for 3 or so hours of parking with validation?

Yes they validate at the Alamo box office ticket counter. Depending on how long the movie is and how early I arrived, I typically pay between $2.50 and $4.… Read more

Do the front rows make for an uncomfortable viewing experience or is there enough space between the seat and screen to fully enjoy the movie?

Many people complained about the plot, but I went in with no expectations and had a good time. If you reframe it as you somehow fell into hell and need to escape, then you'll have a great time. Don't think too deeply. The actors, ambiance, decorations and room setups were well done. The ice room could've been colder with some dry ice. I do think it's pretty steep for a 35 minute escape maze and the behind the scenes was cool but short. The whole experience took us an hour, including bathroom breaks. I recommend going early because it seemed like the actors don't get a lot of breaks so I'm glad I got to see their more passionate acting when they're not tired yet. I think it's good to try once as a beginner but definitely more excited to try other productions like Willow.

Felt like a VIP movie night (with one tiny wrap flaw!)…read more Let me start with a quick parking tip because it's definitely in the fine print: there's "One Garage" literally right next door that offers complimentary 3-hour parking once you get validation from iPic, the only garage to get validated! Sounds amazing... until you show up and it's already full... which was what happened. Our movie started at 6:00 PM, we arrived around 5:20 PM, and the garage was completely closed off -- they weren't letting anyone else in. Luckily, we found parking about 3 minutes away and paid around $5, which honestly wasn't too bad. We came here for the second part of our Valentine's date night and watched Wuthering Heights because hello... Margot Robbie is my favorite girl. I haven't been here in over 15 years and WOW -- I forgot how absolutely beautiful this theater is inside. The lobby is spacious, classy, and honestly feels kind of luxurious. There are pool tables, a full bar area downstairs, and spaces where you can hang out with drinks and good company before your movie. We headed straight into our theater and ordered food from our seats (also... water is complimentary, love that). We were seated in our own little pod -- super intimate with two seats, cozy setup, and yes... a blanket. It truly felt like rich people movie night. Shoutout to our server Jake, who was outstanding from start to finish. Great service, super attentive, and made the experience even better. Food-wise: The Boss Burger ($20.5) was a solid 8.5/10 -- hubby really enjoyed it. Although, there were no pickles or tomatoes in there even though it was in their menu. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap ($17), and I'll be honest... it was the only downside of the night. It was a bit cold and tough, and the tortilla-to-filling ratio was a little off for me. I'd give it a 6/10. If the tortilla was a bit warmer I'd think it'll be able to hold onto the filling a bit better, but that was meh, for me. BUT the fries? Piping hot, crispy, and delicious. And Jake even brought us ranch, BBQ sauce, and extra ketchup without us having to ask twice. Overall, this was my husband's first time here, and it definitely won't be our last. We had such a great experience -- the ambience, service, and overall vibe were top-tier. Can't wait for our next cozy movie night here!

The seats were way too close together, and the person next to us had belongings spread into the shared space, making it very difficult to get in and out of our seats comfortably. Because of how uncomfortable the situation was, we decided to leave during the previews before the movie even started. We politely explained the issue to the manager and asked if we could either move to different seats -- even less expensive ones -- or receive some type of accommodation such as passes for another movie. Unfortunately, the manager refused to help in any way and would not issue a refund, exchange, or even offer courtesy tickets. For a theater that markets itself as a luxury experience and charges premium prices, I expected much better customer service. Other theaters like AMC are usually much more understanding and willing to work with customers when issues arise. Instead, we left feeling frustrated after paying for a movie we never got to watch. Sadly, this experience completely turned us off from coming back.

Now in 2023 performing La Cage, Drag Show, very loosely referring to the movie La Cage aux Folles. Announce yourself to the reception. Pass through a bookcase disguised door like at the Magic Castle and enter a crimson velvet tinged world of Cabaret.  Comfortable sofas for the big ballers while the rest of us are relegated to tall bar stools with no back. Don't get too toasted & sloshed or you could fall back backwards.  3 man band starts playing stalwarts of the American Song Book about 15 minutes before show time at 7pm. The doors open at 6pm. The 2nd show starts at 9pm.  You can order a short list of bar food, and there is a full bar, but obviously no loud blender to disrupt the show which runs around 90 minutes. So it is possible to dine before or after at French influenced Shirley where you get a 15% discount showing your La Cage tickets.  Then doing a post prandial libation at the Lounge or an alcohol based Milk Shake at 25° to make it a full evening at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Drag is a venerable art form. In Shakespeare's time, the Globe Theatre had only male actors so Drag was de rigueur as well as the ancient Japanese Kabuki Theatre which is still all male to this day.  Host Tommi Rose, 47 year Drag veteran originally from the La Cage aux Folles Night Club in the 1980's as well as at famous Finocchio's in San Francisco during the 1970's, does a flurry of 13 costume changes ending with a silver beaded dress weighing 28 lbs.  A Marilyn Monroe, who is a dead ringer to the original, performs flawlessly channeling her inner Monroe. Lady Gaga makes an appearance lip synching to songs when she sang with Tony Bennett. The in between acts had a "Cabaret" Berlinesque feel that Liza Minelli would have been pleased.  The Torch Song finale was a rousing, feel good rendition of "I Am What I Am" from the song originally introduced in the Broadway musical La Cage aux Folles.  It was a poignant song that makes no apology nor excuse for who we are. And that is the way it should be.  Enjoy the Drag!!!  PS Get rid of the annoying two pillars blocking the view of the stage.

They were very welcoming to our large group, and seating was smooth and well-organized. The service was impressive given our group size--staff stayed attentive and kept things moving efficiently. The show is the highlight--very entertaining, interactive, and engaging from start to finish. They involve the audience often, bringing both kids and adults into the action. The cast includes pirates, a mermaid, a princess, and a captain performing acrobatic and agility stunts that kept everyone fully engaged. We had the basic food package: a garden salad, chicken dinner for adults, and chicken nuggets with mac and cheese for students, plus a brownie for dessert and included soft drinks. The food is simple but good--definitely filling, but not the main attraction. There are also upgraded appetizers, entrées, and desserts available for an additional cost. At $43.95 for a show, drink, and three-course meal, it's a solid value. You'll leave full and entertained--just don't come expecting gourmet dining. Compared to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, Pirates Dinner Adventure feels more interactive and offers more comfortable seating, with a similar level of food quality. Overall, a fun and memorable experience--especially great for groups and field trips!

There were two sections, the welcoming B&B in partnership with CBS and the show 'Ghosts' which smelled like pumpkin spice and everything nice, with the occasional possession and haunting. Then you're taken across the street for the real show and that's where Creep shines. The poetic storylines, the terrific acting and staging, the interaction, and new ideas all reminded me of the early days of Delusion which is a huge compliment. Your group of 8 is small and intimate and you feel absolutely immersed. Be prepared to be touched, whether you are taking an actor's hand or they are gently leading you somewhere, but nothing over the top. I'm so glad it's back and as good a Creep LA as ever was! I had considered going to another haunt, but the prices were out of my range. Creep was a comfortable $70 per person and I was lucky to grab some tickets as they were selling out. I really didn't know what to expect, but the least I can say is that I was completely blown away. The absolutely expert crafting of this experience, everything from the story to the acting to the timing to the setting, was incredible. First I was curious, then unsettled, then worried, then SCARED, and then nearly welling up with tears. These actors are so committed and every character feels so full. The way they looked into my eyes had me deeply moved and I was immersed for the entire hour we were inside. Every person in my group was interacted with and enveloped in the story. This sort of art needs to be deeply appreciated and supported in Los Angeles and I'm so grateful to all the people that put their hearts and souls into this. Thank you JFI Productions!

We went to see a movie on opening weekend, I was surprised that the movie was all the way up on the 3rd floor. That's inconvenient if you want to go buy more concessions or get refills because the only concession stand open is located on the first floor. It takes a lot of time to go down 3 floors then stand in line, so keep that in mind if you're in the 3rd floor.
