Mariachi Hecho en México ruined my event and lied to my face -- twice. If you're thinking about hiring them, don't. I wouldn't trust them to play at a bus stop. We booked them months in advance for a two-hour set with a mix of male and female musicians. We agreed on the price. We agreed on the people. We agreed on the time. And on the day of the event, without warning, they sent a group of elderly men -- I'm talking 70+ -- who could barely sing, barely play, and had no business performing. This was not what we booked, and they knew it. The day before, they asked if they could come 45 minutes early. I said no, because we had a schedule. They showed up early anyway, already trying to push us into letting them start so they could finish and run off to their next gig. That's right -- they double-booked the day and decided to dump their B-team on us like we wouldn't notice. When I asked what happened to the band we hired, the lies started. In writing, they told me they were "stuck at another event." When I called Fernando, he said they were "stuck in traffic." Which is it? Neither. They just didn't have the guts to admit they'd sold us out for another job. After the event, they had the nerve to blame me -- saying I "let them play" (as though I had time to magically find another band in the middle of the event) and accusing me of "verbally abusing" them. I was furious, yes, because they LIED, broke their word, ignored my instructions, swapped in a knock-off band, and thought they could get away with it. They dangled a fake solution -- first offering a free two-hour set, then taking it back. Then they said they could refund me "in a couple of months" if I stopped pushing for it. That's not customer service. That's stalling and hoping I'd go away. Here's what really happened: - They double-booked. - Lied twice with two different excuses. - Showed up early after I told them not to. - Tried to rush through to make their next job. - Sent a group so bad it was insulting to call them mariachis. - Blamed me for their failure and acted like they were the victims. They didn't just fail to deliver. They disrespected me, my guests, my time, and my money. If you hire Mariachi Hecho en México, don't be surprised if you get lied to, bait-and-switched, and then gaslit when you complain. There are plenty of real mariachis out there who will actually show up, play well, and keep their word. These people are not one of them. Avoid them like the plague. I found and booked Mariachi's Echo en Mexico last minute for my mother in laws birthday. They had availability only after a certain time the day of, but it worked out perfectly for me. They were punctual, professional, and I had absolutely no problem organizing surprise plan with group prior to them arriving...They provided an excellent array of mariachi music, their vocals were amazing! We hired them for our wedding on 10/18 for our ceremony and part of the reception dinner. We went over what songs were to be played during the ceremony weeks in advance and I even checked in again few days before the wedding to make sure everything was clear. They arrived on time and played the correct song for the wedding party, however when it was my turn ( the bride ) to walk down the isle there was a delay because they said they didn't know how to play "can't help falling in love" by Elvis. The man Fernando told me more than once they knew how to play it. They ended up playing a random song I would have never chosen. Also I had asked them to play "si nos dejan " right when we are pronounced husband and wife (before walking down isle together ) and they just stood there looking confused when we looked at them waiting to start the music. I literally had to yell it at them what song to play !! It was as if they had no idea what we had discussed and I communicated in Spanish to make sure all was clear!! I was so mad but was trying not to focus on it much. Didn't want to ruin my day. I ended up messaging Fernando asking what the hell happened ? He just ended up blaming the coordinator saying that "she" confused them and he also blamed me "the bride " for not being there an hour and a half early for him to talk to me about the song selection. He never asked me to arrive early nor did he mention having any questions and said he knew what the plan was . They had my phone number the entire time and only called me 20 minutes before the ceremony just to let me know they arrived . That's all ! They took no responsibility at all for screwing up and just ended up blaming others. Didn't even offer to give partial credit back for messing up. Very disappointed they messed up the most important part of our wedding. As you can see on the conversation, everything seemed like it was okay and then they blamed us. The mariachi group was early and on time. They looked well dressed. I reserved them for four hours, and the first hour was complete, but the remaining three hours were 45min each because the group took a 15-minute break each hour after the first hour. Some of the songs they played went extremely long. I knew the songs, and I knew they were not as long as they played them. I'm not sure if this was to pass time quicker and not have to play so many songs, but it seemed that way. So just keep an eye on that if you use them and call em out on it if this occurs at your gathering. Otherwise, the group was good overall. The audio was good, and different members of the group sang and did a good job. Have some beers ready for them because they will ask for several. We had plenty of beer, so didn't mind sharing with them. read more
