When I was…read morefinishing a Master's Degree program and was having difficulty with a website where I was supposed to submit my work, one of the librarians worked with me to help me. They have wonderful programs for teens as well. During the pandemic, teens were lost without activities to do and to get them together but the library continued to have zoom programs such as Dungeons and Dragons and craft activities too. I find the librarians to be so flexible in meeting the concerns of the community. Also, I read in a previous post about traffic but they had construction done so now patrons and staff can enter and exit from a side street: Pleasant View and there is a light if you are entering from Putnam to Pleasant. The library is bright, clean and quiet.They have a community garden and many community events. Their calendar is full with events for all ages. The staff work hard to get to know all of the patrons and our families. My husband uses it for the books. I use it mainly for the computers and printing lately though their book clubs are fantastic too! My teen uses it for the teen space, summer reading and has volunteered there as well, reading to younger children. Greenville Public Library is one of the best libraries in our state!

As are all the RI public libraries!…read more I have a library card and then I log on to their website, look for the books I want, request them (and you can have them transferred from other RI libraries too!) and then I get an email when I can go in to pick them up. They keep their hold shelf to the left when you walk in. Books are held in alphabetical order by holders last names. The coolest thing? You get to self check out at this library!! I can run in and out within 3 minutes with this process. Saves me money and space that I don't have to give and helps the library stay active. If you sign up for their newsletter, they will email you their monthly events! I've taken a few awesome classes! One we built a terrarium for air plants! There's financial classes, after school classes for kids... everything. And as I was typing this review, Yelp told me i'm the 'Wizard of Words' so I think that means you have to listen to me. :D

I would vote in ANY election for an increase in library funding. For years it was taken for granted by both library patrons and library staff that- conducive to studying and reading -QUIET and CIVILITY were the norm; indeed THE RULE, in public libraries. For some time now I have been perturbed by this unexplained , un-therapeutic, and RUDE to the general public DUMPING BUS LOADS OF MENTALLY DISTURNED YOUTH into the Cranston Public Library. Presently I am typing at a computer station here and seated to my left is a clearly mentally disturbed youth. Only the STATE OF RHODE ISLAND can be authorizing this unprofessional " treatment " of difficult minors. NOTE : The Cranston Public Library could at least give notice to regular patrons for " patience " with this " problem ". Some of us might just think that " brats " are the problem here. Like the homeless crisis ,the real problem here is the STATE of Rhode Island ( or perhaps the City of Cranston ? ) neglecting vulnerable people. A little library with…read morea lot The very first Knightsville library was established back in 1927 and was just a small spot in a local store. The is was typical for the time and libraries were just sort of stuck in any place that had some room. The very first permanent library in Knightsville was built in 1959, a little brick building that is unassuming but very functional and has a lot more inside than you would think possible for it's size. A great example of how space can be utilized, this little library just oozes over with so many things to explore and examine. Nothing aesthetically that really stands out, the library has the good things that just can't be verbalized or expressed. It becomes very obvious that everything about this library is special every though nothing really stand out. This building was constructed by contributions in the name of Gerard Ruggieri. A great honor to have people love you enough to name a library after you. This library is a special little place that is so, so quiet and subtle. Nothing special about it at all. But I suspect the people that use this library know and appreciate just how wonderful a small, and very unassuming place can be. This review is dedicated to Alexandra S. When I go in just to browse, I always leave with too many cookbooks and music books...so many it's hard to carry! Last time I went, I saw that they will no longer be charging late fees! Tip: enroll in text message reminders for when items are ready or due! Also, the librarians are the best! Bethany even brought me in the cutest little friendship plant since we often talk about gardening:) sometimes they have crafts that you can pickup and do at home...one spring I got a bunch of free seeds for my garden! Lately, I have been borrowing a few book from the main Library and the system is very easy to…read morenavigate. Basically you enter your library card number and you can create a list of titles that you are interested in. You can then place a hold on any of them if they are not on the shelf and they will let you know when your book is ready for pickup. Just go to the second floor and to the left of the information desk, there are self serve shelves with all the books ready to be picked up. I just looked for mine under my last name, check it out and I have three weeks to read it. Easy and free.

The Knight Memorial Library definitely stands out in the neighborhood for it's sheer size. It was designed by Edward Tilton - the same man who designed Ellis Island - and is composed of lots of marble and stone. It is definitely grand, especially for a neighborhood library. However, when you walk into the building it has a welcoming vibe. The library itself looks comfortable for people of all ages. It feels airy but also warm. I didn't get to check it out all that much that night, but I'm happy to have been introduced and I'm looking forward to coming back for other readings or just to check out a book. Go libraries!

I just know that each time I enter the building I hold my breath and touch those amazing ornate doors that are just background to the hallway where students eat cafeteria food. As one would guess, this library is amazingly curated. I am a huge Maurice Sendak fan and I found copies of works by him that I didn't know existed. Like the first translated version of a famous Czechoslovakian fairy tale that he illustrated. I always grab a comic too. They have two sections, one for typically sized comics and one for over sized comic books. Also, the student work they showcase is always interesting. As a bibliophile I feel genuinely lucky to have this library in my home state. And I'll totally marry someone who has tenure there so I can sneakily read their books till they die.

When I saw the opportunity to make my own three dimensional leather rose listed on the June Events…read moreat Rochambeau library newsletter, I immediately registered by emailing rocadults@clpvd.org to reserve my seat. Registration is suggested. The event was held on Saturday, June 28 in MakerSpace starting at 3:30pm. When I entered Rochambeau library, there was a sign that gave instructions to MakerSpace. Cassidy introduced herself and there were 6 of us for the event. We sat at the desks with all the supplies and Cassidy informed us we have the option for a mini or a large leather rose. Most of us chose the large leather rose. First, Cassidy instructed us to cut the petals out of the leathercraft pattern for 3-D Leather Roses by Annie Libertini. Using the pattern, we then traced the shape onto the leather. Next, we soaked the leather with water. This helps the leather pliable and easier to mold. We pinched, twisted, and rolled the leather into the tight center of a rose. Using a bottle cap as a base, we put the outer shell and the inner shell of the rose together with some leather glue. Lastly, we just have to allow the petals to dry over night. The next day, the petals were dry and they held their shape. Cassidy was very friendly, very knowledgeable about leather, and gave instructions that were easy to follow. Rochambeau library has many different events, so I'm sure there is something for everyone.
