The building was an old gas station at one time. It's painted a reddish color and sits on the corner but on the main drag. Not busy so walked in and sat. The waitress was very nice and friendly and took our order. We ordered omelets which came with hash browns and toast. The omelets were large and tasty. I ordered hash whites and they were perfect. The prices are extremely reasonable almost cheap. We were just passing through so we won't return but we highly recommend this place

Great food (I get the beef enchilada dinner), great service and good prices! I stop for lunch anytime I have time. Someday I'll make it early enough for breakfast.

Overall a good experience but nothing phenomenal. Restaurant was quaint and minimally decorated. Staff was helpful and available. My husband and I split a combination plate and it was plenty of food, especially for the price. Food was good, nothing wrong but nothing exceptional. Thankful it was as tasty as it was when the options on our drive were so limited!

    this is the food.

this food was the most outrageous most disgusting thing I've ever seen and it was nasty asf and the food tastes like

We stopped at the Allsup's for coffee and asked the cashier if she knew of a nearby place to eat that was open after 9PM and she pointed us to Maria's! We were on a 12+ hour drive home from central Texas to Colorado Springs and we needed to get into some place warm for a bit as the temperatures were under 30. We stepped into a pretty basic looking place with cheapy tables and chairs, but it was all clean and it was perfectly warm and cozy. The waitress, possibly the owner, got us some chips and salsa and had our drinks quick as ever. We were the only customers, so it was pretty quiet. The menu was what you'd expect at a small town diner: basic American and Mexican stuff. I got the Mexican Steak and a bit of the green chile on the side since she said it was hot. It was about a 2 out of 10 for heat, but it was perfect on a cold winter night! I opted out of the onions, so my steak was a chopped mess of beef cubes, jalapenos and tomatoes. I dumped some into a flour tortilla with beans, rice, lettuce and a spoonful of the chili! My wife had the combo dinner with a cheese enchilada, chili relleno and a taco. The enchilada was pretty good, but we both thought the red sauce needed some kind of kick. The taco was fine, and the chili relleno was battered in cornmeal! That was unexpected, kinda cool, but not one we'd want to try again. Great service, good food, and it was so cheap I wish it was a lot closer. The best part is that they accept credit cards!

Maria is nice and friendly. Lots of locals in this restaurant. If you're into roosters this is the place for you. The entire restaurant is decorated with them. I had the Chile Rellenos. My wife had a combination plate. We both agreed that the refried beans were good.

Abigail and Marissa were very nice and we quite enjoyed the food. Standard Tex-Mex menu; good for small town Texas.

The place started filling up at about 1115 am. Chicken fried steak and fries - perfect portion for me, I'm 61, tender, for once I didn't have to spit out a single piece of chicken fried steak! I guess home cooking is worth a little wait . Green beans had bacon, onion, and were good as well, fries good too. Sunshine Burger and fries - fries were good, there was meat in the hamburger! Good flavor/portion, needed a little more avocado though. Relax, eat here!

She was talking to her co worker, and having a great time. We called her over and asked if we could get at least the salads we ordered and her response was that rhetorical kitchen was backed up. She could've easily helped them to make the salads. After an hour we ask if there was an update on our food. Her response was she didn't know but she needed to go to the bathroom. What?!?!? Nonetheless we got our food. While the burgers were okay the chicken fried steak was not that. It looked like a patty with slimy breading. The whole experience was awful. It's the only place in the area so I think people eat there as a last resort. It's a nice place but lacks everything.
