Stopped in on our way home from South Dakota headed back to Texas. Everything here was authentic & delicious as we are in no shortage of Mexican restaurants in Texas. My husband & I ordered 4 different tacos between the two of us and they were all good. Very fresh ingredients in the pico. The chips & salsa brought to the table were fried to order; not waiting under a warmer somewhere. We also ordered nachos to share & they were excellent as well. Super clean dining area, kitchen & bathrooms. We even watched the girl behind the counter wash her hands after taking money before walking back into the kitchen area. We watched another girl perfectly aligning the drinks in the case. Details matter & they have it figured out here. Another guy came in & ordered churros while we were eating & they cooked them to order. They were not pulled under a warmer either. read more

Not much when traveling through western Kansas besides national fast food chains. Maria's was a pleasant surprise right off I70. Very clean with a friendly owner. Lots of choices and quick service. We had a breakfast burrito and tostado. They came with chips and salsa. Food was fresh and tasty. Bathrooms were very clean. We were in and out in 20 minutes. Gas station right next door. A great choice if you find yourself traveling on I70 in western Kansas. read more

We ordered the Super Carne Asada Burrito to share for lunch. It was abou $16. We only made it through half. It was gigantic! We really wanted the lengua but the cook said they no longer make it. We met a local florist @forkandhay who always orders the street tacos (soft corn tortillas). By the way, Goodland has an amazing farmer's market on Saturdays in the Summer. read more

What a gem. We pulled off I-70 for gas and to grab a bite. There aren't a lot of options and we almost went to Qdoba in the Travel Center. Luckily we went up the road and found Maria's. Great service, the food was fresh and delicious. The restaurant and restrooms were very clean, without the smell of cleaning solutions. So happy we stopped. read more

We were driving from Boulder, CO to Manhattan, KS and needed some lunch. Goodland showed up at a convenient time so we checked some online ratings and pulled off of I-70. Maria's is located just off the interstate on a sort of 'access road' that parallels the main road about 10 yards away. There are some other fast food places, a gas station, and a convenience store as well. That's as far as we made it. There is no apparent signage inside to direct you, but you need to order your food at the counter (no servers come to your table to take your order). Once you approach the counter, you'll see a large menu-board to your right. Prices are fairly low, and they give you a lot of food. I got the 2-taco platter (which came with rice and beans, as you might expect). My wife got the chicken burrito grande, and they were not kidding about the 'grande' part (she couldn't finish all of it, due purely to the size). They also bring you a small basket of chips and salsa. I can only comment on my one experience, but every crispy tortilla-related item (chips and taco shells) were served hot and glistening, fresh from the oil. The dishes were tasty. The sign outside says or implies 'fast food' but this is several cuts above Taco Bell, certainly. Other than the counter-ordering, it didn't seem much different than most Tex-Mex places I've been to (and better than some; better than any I visited in Northern California, certainly). It has a bit of a 'hole in the wall' vibe, but in a good way. They appeared to have an unused buffet-station against the wall. I got the impression that in normal (non-COVID) circumstances they might have a lunch buffet. If I am ever again driving across Kansas, I'd consider stopping here again for a quick meal. read more

Great little Mexican food gem in Goodland, Kansas. Service was super fast and friendly, the restaurant and bathrooms were clean and well-maintained, and the food was delicious! I ordered the #18, 2 sopes (I got a beef and a chicken) served with beans and rice. My husband got the eggs with shredded beef and really enjoyed his, as well! I'm glad I know this spot exists now!! It used to be a different Mexican restaurant, apparently, but has changed ownership and it's name. Good to know this spot is here, since we frequently take road trips across I-70 and this is a very convenient location. read more

Great stop to find fresh made Mexican food. Homemade tortillas and chips, excellent pork adobada. We also got the Colorado burrito and the super Asada burrito. Both were excellent. The sautéed onion in the ranchero burrito were cooked perfectly. Good selection of hot sauces. Really good flavors overall. The guacamole was a little plain for our taste. Quick stop with quality food. So unfair for the 2 star review because the reviewer didn't understand the definition of fast food. read more

Maria's was a pleasant surprise on the long road to Alabama!!! It was so clean, and well maintained. The food was delicious, authentic, and QUICK! This isn't a sit down take your order restaurant, however it's a wonderful value!! I had the rolled tacos, and he had the chimichanga meal! For $20 we had two huge plates of food and drinks, as well as chips and salsa. We were back on the road within 45 minutes!! Great find in my opinion. read more

Most Mexican restaurants i have visited have a signature routine when you walk in,.. you wait to be seated, your given menus, given chips and salsa while u wait, drinks are brought to you then eventually your food.. this restaurant however is definitely NOT that kind of restaurant! I was a little taken back with walking through the restaurant to an ordering counter, the menu is on a huge plaque hanging on the wall. You pay before you eat and self serve ur own drinks which there is a sign posted that says "one refill per customer". Chips and salsa are brought to your table however its a very small basket with a dipping cup size of salsa (big enough for 2 people only) no refills are offered. The food i must say was very good, but the portion sizes for what we ordered i felt were a little on the small size, unless you order a la cart. And Those burritos are big but they do not come with anything so the price can add up quickly. Although my belly was full when i left, i probably wouldn't go back when traveling through the area. read more
