Bailey with his new brother Scooby Doo

Found my pitty Bailey, almost two years ago now here!! He's one of the sweetest dogs I've ever owned and he is just perfect (He's blue in the photos due to Halloween haha)

Picked up Laney to foster from the East shelter.

Was at the shelter Saturday to adopt an amazing dog who was on the euthanasia list. Love her so much!

This place is a joke!!! I adopted dog in good faith thinking he was fit for our family. Keep in mind he a small Chihuahua mix. Unfortunately he bit my 1 1/2 yr old grand-daughter. I went back to surrender the dog. These 2 ladies there started throwing crazy fee for me to surrender him. It was gonna cost me over $300 dll when I adopted him it cost me $75 dll. Now Im stuck with the dog, I did tell them I would abandon him. Who in their right mind will keep a dog after biting a child. She ended up needed 3 stitches closes to her eye. After this I would never adopt or have any animals. Picture below of the dog bit & of the dog. He did well with older kids but Not little one.

    My new fur baby DEXTER

I adopted my dog named Einstein, now renamed Dexter from MCACC Jan.2025. The process was smooth and and I'm very pleased with my choice. The staff was wonderful and answered all questions asked. Thanks, MCACC for my sweet furbaby!!

We have had dogs in the past...one died in a tragic accident, and the other one was just wrong place/wrong time type deal with kids (she went to a family friend) It's been a couple of years since we had a dog, and felt like it was the time to get another one. The kids really wanted one, and so did I. I came down here with my son to look around on a Saturday, and then with the whole family on Sunday to adopt. We adopted a little girl named Daisy. She was found with her mom and brother and sister. Mom looked like a blue healer kind of, but the other half, who knows. Daisy is a total mutt. A cute one at that! We adopted the last day of July, and they had a deal going on where it was "empty the shelters" and all adoption fees were being waived. This was a super score because normally, puppies are like $300.00. They spayed her, microchipped her and gave her the first round of vaccines. Very thankful they do all of that included! When we were at the adoption window, the 2 people next to us were adopting Daisys brother and sister. The one couple actually lives in our same town, and we exchanged info in order to have play dates later once they get older. Should be pretty cool for brother and sister to grow up and play together through the years. If you do see a dog you want, the day it becomes available for adoption, you need to be there first in line, when they open the doors at noon. If you aren't first in line, someone else is going to adopt them most likely. Sad it works that way, but whatever...at least they are being adopted and going to good homes (hopefully!). The whole staff we interacted with were great, from the ladies at the front counter, to the girl who showed us Daisy during the initial meet and greet, to the lady who brought her out to us on adoption day. They all seemed to love their job, and they are doing good work saving dogs and getting them into loving homes. Would definitely come back if we ever decide to get a 2nd one.

Terrible Terrible place. I adopted kittin 4 months ago. He was very skinny and sick. They didn't tell us anything. Paperwork said, "Healthy." It's been 4 months after adoption. He recovered and back to healthy kitten. Biggest BS was No one was answering. Peoples were so rude. I don't recommend this place. They should be penalized.

Theres a ton to know about this place as we found out recently its not a cut and dry, turn up, find a dog and leave happy. We have had several unhappy trips home due to their much needed rules and processes. Not disagreeing with them. But its something you should know before you go. From our experience. 1) Dogs are not put on the internet until they are ready to be adopted... and most of the time by the time they are ready to be adopted they are gone when we have called for an appointment. Advice: keep going back in person. But don't plan on coming home with a dog. 2) Dogs found and brought in are kept for 72 hours (excluding holidays) while their owners have the time to collect them. During this time you may or most often may not even visit with the dog... some can be seen and some cannot and we couldn't find someone to tell us what deferentiates that. Then what is really confusing is the date and times listed on the sheets on the cages as to when the dog can be released... is not always correct. Advice, ask someone to check on the real release date.. example our dog ended up being keep for nearly 4.5 days, 1.5 days over the time listed on the sheet. 3) the cute dogs have many fans. So even if you get in line hours before the dogs release time... when the time to be available comes around.... the shelter waits for others to be interested and then they hold a lottery to see who will win. Now in our case the dog came up at a specific time. I was inline waiting or 20 minutes until I got to the counter 2 minutes before the release time but got told to wait inline again until after the release time. However, I will say the staff sort us out in line when they held the lottery. Advice, get their a few hours early. Ask many volunteers and workers about that dog and be sure to make it known to the workers at counter you are interested. Pay attention to the workers behind the counters around the time of release. They will start calling the dogs number sometime after the release time. 4) Each person interested in the dog at the time of release or if you are the only one they will give it an extra 5-10 minutes to be fair.... will get a ticket which gets pulled from a bucket in full view. Very fair. But we had many lost opportunities. Advice, go hopeful but not committed to that dog until you win. We had many disappointments before we got our dog. 5) The dirty little secret they don't want to tell you. The dogs are found on the street, they can be very dirty and stinky. They don't bathe them at all... what's more is if they the dogs aren't fixed. They have to fix them before releasing them. Which is done while the dog is smelly and stinky. (Kind of wrong IMHO, they should atleast wash the dog before surgery). Then the instructions are not to bathe the dog for 10 days due to surgery. So now you have a new dog that stinks and there's nothing you can do for 10 days! Advice, get a peg for your nose and plenty of old towels and blankets. I would have happily paid someone there to simply wash the dog before surgery, it didn't have to be all groomed and perfect. 6) Keep going back and ask questions, we found a lot of different answers to our questions about polices and processes. One family who lost a dog in a lottery with us was very upset as they were told to queue up before they opened to be sure they would be first.. being first doesn't matter. Being attentative and being at the desk at the right time to be in the lottery does matter. I also went and saw another dog while waiting for another one for its time to be released and was told to be there 2 hours before this other dog's time to be released to be sure to get it. Enjoy and remember a dog is not just for Christmas

The staff and volunteers are rude and unhelpful. The cause is worthy but the experience is worse than if the DMV opened a walmart.

Hello everyone Maybe somebody can help me here on May 8 I adopted a shitzu 6 months old white , am I able to bring her back and get my money?

Call them and ask, they will tell you the process and what to expect. Remember it can take several weeks for a dog to settle in to its new environment--after all, the shelter is a stressful place for animals with all the other pets there. Please… Read more

We checked with the Humane Society and surprisingly their prices were so affordable. As to the actual service, I can't believe it how much the Humane Society has changed since the last time we had to do this about 12 years ago. You can decide to be with your pet up until the actual second shot which you cannot see. Or you can decide to just drop your pet off. You also can ask for the body back to keep things cheap cheaper and then take it to the Maricopa County animal control and they will dispose of the body for $15. It is illegal to bury a pet in Arizona. You get an appointment there is a special room for euthanasia. Dimly lit, soft music, flickering LED candles. They come in and tell you exactly how it's going to happen. They ask you when you're ready to let them know. Then they come in and give the shot that will just make them go to sleep then they will tell you to ring the doorbell, which is on the wall when you are ready for them to come and take your pet for the final shot. We decided to go with cremation, but did not want the ashes back, which is cheaper than if you do want the ashes back A week later, we had to put down our other dog that we had for very similar reasons we had gotten both dogs one week apart and unfortunately, they both were euthanized one week apart 16 years later. Unfortunately, it was a Friday and we knew this couldn't wait until Monday and we couldn't get an appointment. We went elsewhere for the second dog, and while it wasn't a terrible experience, it was nothing like the respectful quiet time that we had at Humane Society. In fact, I told the vet how they do things that Humane Society. And she thought all of that was a great idea and said that they had a spare room that they were trying to figure out what to do with, and she made the decision right then to try to emulate what the Humane Society is doing.

I adopted my son (2.5-year-old rag doll cat) here this past June 2025 on one of their free adoption…read moredays. He was already neutered and had all of his vaccines. There was a medical disclosure online. that he had gingivitis, but as a first time cat owner, I researched that this is pretty common in young cats and can self resolve without treatment. About 1/2-year later, he still had the gingivitis. Since he was adopted from and already well known at this clinic, I scheduled an appointment for a dental cleaning/procedure of pulling infected teeth if needed here too, for continuity of care. Upon scheduling the appointment, I had to pay a 10% deposit fee over the phone by reading out my card number, which was about $90, assuming tooth would have to be pulled for total cost of $900 (I DO NOT HAVE PET INSURANCE). Due to this possibility of pulling teeth, this appointment was booked as a surgical procedure. They offer these appointments Monday through Thursday only and lasts all day: You are to drop off your animal at 7:45 AM and pick them up around 4 PM or earlier if the providers done earlier.) Prior to my appointment, I was texted a required prescreening questionnaire which I filled out prior to my appointment. It also came with preparation instructions including allowing your animal to drink water freely but have nothing to eat after midnight. On the day of the appointment, I arrived 15 minutes early as instructed, around 7:45 AM, but I found myself waiting outside the clinic as they opened at 8 AM. I checked in, and was almost immediately taken to a room to be triaged by the vet tech. Then the provider came in, examined my son, and took him back. He was ready for pickup around 3:30 PM, but I was busy and ended up picking him up at 4:30 PM, which did not prove to be an issue. He needed less work done than expected, so I ended up actually paying $375.50 by card (SEE SCREENSHOT ATTACHED FOR THE COST OF THE ENTIRE APPOINTMENT). He did not have any teeth pulled. All in all satisfied with my experience with this campus of the Arizona Humane Society! I adopted my boy from them, and he will continue to receive all of his care from them.
