Maridadi Couture has been under new ownership since the spring of 2025. We were referred to the new owner, Emily, by the wedding dress shop where we bought my daughter's gown. All I can say is...RUN! DO NOT get your alterations done here! Why? 1) They charge way too much for alterations, and 2) their quality of work is below standard for this type of business. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Over the course of two months, my daughter had 4 fittings. The 4th fitting was supposed to be the last, and the dress was supposed to come home with us that day. However, some of the work still wasn't done...or it was done poorly. For example: 1) Shortening a skirt and reattaching the lace at the bottom - they only tacked the lace back on. Luckily, I ran my finger along the lace and found the large gaps between stitches. The owner said she must have missed that when doing the alterations. She said normally the lace would be hand-stitched on, but she'd make sure to run it on the sewing machine. Mind you, this was the 4th fitting; the day we were supposed to take the dress home! I don't think it was the owner who actually did the alterations. Instead, there was a very nice, but inexperienced seamstress we always met with at each visit. I had to request to see the owner (with whom we made the appointment) at the first fitting. After that, she'd come in to each subsequent fitting. 2) Closing the gap between a sweetheart neckline with some extra embellishments from the skirt. They were pinned into place, and we were told they'd be sewn just as they were. But at the next fitting, they were gone, and another piece had been sewn in. Then it was fixed again, but never to what we had originally decided on. 3) Straps had been added to the dress. One broke early on during the reception. 4) A short train needed to be cut off from the slip lining the dress, and then the slip had to be hemmed. They didn't turn the hem up twice, resulting in the unfinished part of the hem showing. We could see the bits of frayed thread on the cut edge of the slip. The owner told us it was turned twice; some of the pieces of thread just popped out. "It happens all the time." Listen, my daughter, who sews, and I aren't stupid. We could clearly see the edge of the slip where it was cut. It was simply shotty work. 4) After bustling the train, ALL 5 bustle ribbons STRETCHED and BROKE during the reception. My daughter ended up carrying her train around all night. 5) For an extra $100 they were supposed to press and steam the dress and make sure everything was secure. The 4th fitting was supposed to be the last - try on the dress and take it - but that's where I found at least 3 issues with the dress. One of them being that the dress WASN'T steamed or gone over. Every flower/embellishment was exactly the same as the day we picked up the dress from the wedding dress shop. Some were folded in half or squished. The owner tried telling me she personally steamed the entire dress, but I wasn't buying any of it. By the 5th and final visit, the dress was definitely steamed; there was a very noticeable difference. These are only the highlights. Although the owner said she did all the alterations herself, we don't believe her. The work was subpar. Perhaps she was covering for the less experienced seamstress, but it poorly reflects on the owner, as she now looks incompetent. read more

Given the amount of business they have, they must do a good job. But they wasted my time, which is the reason behind this low review. I contacted them approximately 30 minutes before my arrival and asked them if I should make an appointment or simply stop by. They said I didn't need to make an appointment and could just stop in. I told them I'd be there in around 30 minutes later. I arrive around 30 minutes later to find the parking lot filled with at least 15 cars (no exaggeration). As I walk to the front door, a guy walks out and says, "good luck with that." I enter to find the small waiting space packed with people, mostly of what looked to be girls in their late teens. I approach the front desk and tell them I had called a half hour ago and was told I could just stop by. They were pleasant enough and apologized, but that was it. I wasn't going to wait what would have been at least an hour. So I left. Though I can't speak for the quality of their work, they must do a good job. However, I would recommend you not use them unless you have an appointment. They wasted an hour of my time (driving to and from), so I won't be back. read more

I was in and out in about 25 minutes. I got a 10% discount also because my bride went there which was nice. She was very professional with her quotes and turn-around times. First let me start by saying, I'm not the kind of person who gets clothing items altered. SO, when it was time to look for alterations for my wedding dress, I didn't know where to start. I even thought about altering my own "off the rack" dress to save money. (don't do that, really, it's totally worth the money!) I read Yelp reviews for places in Philadelphia. They were confusing and conflicting and what some loved others hated, and what some found to be reasonably priced, others found to be grossly expensive for the value. So I decided to ask around to see what people I knew had experienced. I went to Maridadi Couture on a tip from a friend of a friend. It was quite a drive from Philadelphia, but I was OK with that, as I mentioned, based on reviews, tailoring options in the city seem hit or miss & overpriced for the quality of work, depending on who you ask. Also, they have weekend fitting hours here, which was helpful for me. The price was probably the norm, but the work and customer service was of superior quality. Also, my wedding was on a very tight budget, and the owner, Rita, worked with me to figure out which alterations I really needed, and which ones I could live without. She was very generous with her advice and her pricing options for me, which gained huge points. I bought the dress "off the rack" to save money, and because I was short on time. Rita didn't bat an eye at the tight schedule, or the fact that the dress was over-sized and had to be taken in and up a lot. My entire experience with my fittings here were wonderful. Rita and her assistant were very pleasant and easy to work with. In the end, my dress fit me like a glove. I don't know how she did it, she worked her magic and the dress ended up looking better than i could've ever imagined. Altered my wedding gown here - what fantastic work! I had purchased my gown through Nordstrom online; the sizing chart was extremely off and the dress I ended up with (after even a return!) was still as size too big. I took it to Nordstrom as I assumed they would be able to do alterations on their dresses only to be told it would be impossible! Off I went to Rita! What a great decision. I always felt beautiful, like my dress was unique and never ever rushed. My gown's alterations were rather complicated, but I was never nervous that the work would be done correctly. Rita took the time to do "hair trims" (FOUR fittings!) so that each strip of organza would be moved and correctly fitted. Even though I've lived in the area all my life, I didn't know about this tailor, and I'm sorry that it took me this long to find her. Rita is, first and foremost, an excellent seamstress, but she is also courteous, friendly, detailed, professional, and honest, all essential when dealing with brides and their entourages. After being thrilled with alterations on three dresses, I called Rita in a panic when my sister's wedding dress was altered incorrect...4 days before her wedding! My sister was so distraught - the top of the dress looked terrible on her. Rita encouraged us to bring the dress in right away. Rita and her team at Maridadi Couture are truly magicians. They are friendly, accommodating, efficient and extremely knowledgeable. Within three weeks leading up to my wedding, they took a shapeless (but pretty) shell of a dress and tucked and nipped and cut it to a form-fitting stunner. They did it within the time frame that I wanted, but if I had to do it again, I wouldn't rush them as much as I did. There was a couple odds and ends that were not as polished.
