Could not have nicer things to say about working with My Chef and Jamie Walsh for our wedding day catering. We met Jamie at our venue's vendor expo and were immediately impressed by their services, pricing, and vast food offerings. It was a no brainer to book with their group! We had our tasting a couple months before our wedding day; which is complimentary to the couple and a $50 charge for any additional guest to join. They have you select 8-10 appetizers, 2 salads, and 4 entrees to taste at their Naperville location. They also have displays of china, silverware, glasses and more to help couples select what aligns aesthetically for their special day. Jamie worked with us to make small modifications to their standard offerings to make the food exactly what we wanted! Our wedding day came and we were floored by the quality/presentation of food, level of detail in place settings, and service from all staff members. We had multiple guests say that this was some of the best wedding food they've had, steaks were not over cooked, and food tasted fresh. Jamie also let us add desserts a week out to reallocate money from a couple of guests who last minute were unable to attend. Their team was even nice enough to service items not purchased through their group: disposables for the late night snack, display and refilling of cupcakes, etc. Overall, their group went above and beyond for us under Jamie's leadership. Our tables looked great, our food was wonderful, and their team was fabulous. We truly appreciate all they've done for us and could not recommend them more! My Chef Catering catered the food for my brother's wedding. My Chef Catering delivered a great experience. To start during the cocktail hour there were sandwiches with house-made potato chips available at a self-service station. In addition servers walked around with spinach and brie wontons with garlic pesto sauce and chicken and waffles. The appetizers were a great start to the evening. The dinners included a salad and entree. The salads tasted fresh. For the entree, I got the braised beef brisket. The potatoes and green beans were excellent while the beef was overcooked and not very tender or juicy. Some barbecue sauce would have helped a lot. The late night snack was the tomato bisque and grilled cheese shooter. This was delicious, but I was too full at that point to have more than one. The servers were incredibly nice and very hard to say not to. Overall, My Chef Catering was one of the better wedding caterers that I've tried. Found Mychef through our venue, but was pulled in by their killer Instagram posts, extremely transparent posts that I was able to review to help me pick them. Had our tasting yesterday and truly cannot recommend this company more, Jamie and Natalie were the ones we were working with and they were amazing, answered questions we had before we even thought to ask them, went above and beyond showing us exactly how the placements will look, the food was amazing and 10/10 professionalism way better than the other tastings we've been too. We used MyChef Catering for our wedding at The Haight back in February 2022. Chloe was our Event Executive and she was super easy to work with leading up to the wedding and the day of! We chose to do two passed hor' dourves and a grazing table for cocktail hour. Both were a hit among our guests but their artichoke beignets are a must try...YUM! We received so many compliments on the plated dinners served during our reception. Their Bistro Steak got a lot of love but I thought the Chicken Francaise was perfect. I have used this company years ago for many parties-always smash hit, until recently. Alex, the sales person, never contacted me for 3 weeks after my initial inquiry and being informed they were available to cater for my daughter's graduation at Danada House. I finally reached out again after contacting within that 3 week period. Finally informed, NO, they were not available and he needed that long to contact the clients that put a deposit down. Takes a salesperson 3 weeks to make a call and/or email? I'm in sales. so his actions are unacceptable. Would never contact My Chef again. read more

We hired My Chef for a celebration of life luncheon at Wilder Mansion. Everything was top-notch and delicious. We ordered mostly off of Menu Five appetizer/hors d'oeuvre buffet choices. I recommend every one. Worked with Waldo getting it set up, and he was super helpful and kind all along the way from initial questions and proposals to contract booking. The staff who showed up to serve were nice and very accommodating and helpful as well. I strongly encourage you to consider My Chef for your next event. read more

Any future customers to this place beware. Me and my now wife had our wedding ceremony on 10/29/2023 and this is the caterer that the venue worked with. Me, my wife, and my mother went to a tasting a few months prior and asked Susan Jacob's (who's position at this place is "event executive") told us we would be able to take home ALL our leftovers. Come the ceremony day towards the end we only see desserts to take home. So we ask the mychef staff that we're still there where are all the other leftovers? We were told they got thrown away. Brisket, ribs, Mac and cheese, tacos thrown away like it's nothing. We also paid for 60 people and about 17 people of that total weren't able to make it. So we emailed Kristen who is the venue cordinator and she passed our concerns to sue. Sue emailed back (I will post the whole email conversation below) essentially saying It has to be thrown away because it was at unsafe temperatures and stated it was a misunderstanding (it definitely wasn't we know what we heard). Well that may be true that's the equivalent of going out to a restaurant and being denied your leftovers. I have an associates degree in culinary arts and have worked for restaurants since I graduated in 2013 and my now wife is in the same field. We also catered, been catered too, before, during, and after COVID and we haven't been denied nor have we denied our guests there leftovers because they PAID FOR IT. She offered us a 300 dollar thanksgiving dinner which is a joke considering the money we paid for all the food that they just tossed. So we stop talking to sue because she doesn't know what she's talking about and in the emails she argues that restaurants are different because people are going home immediately and refrigerating them because Sue knows that everybody goes straight home after they go out to eat. Guess I should ask her the winning lottery numbers too. That was a completely ignorant and false response on her end. We email Kristen again and ask to get in contact with one of the owners at mychef. It's beyond ridiculous that we had to go to one of the owners for a resolution. The owner we spoke to whose name is Mark told us it is recommendation of the health department that they don't let guests take the food home so if a guest gets sick they can't be responsible. Notice how he said recommendation not law. Absolutely no reason that we couldn't take our food home THAT WE PAID FOR! Not to mention we never signed any contract with mychef directly. Mark gave us a Christmas dinner for 8 of all the food we had at the wedding. Everything was good but the brisket we got was NOT the same from the wedding so that got messed up. Something I noticed too was when I went to pick it up they had envelopes with reheating instructions with names of people that were picking up orders on it. One of the employees looked through them and my wife's name wasnt on any of the envelopes( her name was on the order form). So because we called and complained about our food that we PAID for that's rightfully ours that was just thrown away and giving us the wrong brisket that's your way of excluding us? Real mature mychef. We received some kind of reheating instructions but it wasn't even for the food we ordered. The dinner for 8 is better than nothing but still doesn't fully make up for the food we lost. Something else id like to note about Sue. You have to constantly email her to get a response then when she does email back it's excuses why she couldn't respond. Lots of that throughout the year up until the wedding. Sue you are a snake and a liar and should be ashamed of yourself. You are a perfect example of someone who shouldn't work in customer service. read more

I contacted My Chef for a family gathering after a Baptism on December 23, 2021. Susan was awesome - we have a few allergies that made the menu a little tricky. Susan was quick to accommodate us and the event was perfect. Arrival was on time and the food was delicious. Pick up of the serving pieces couldn't have been any smoother. We used My Chef Catering for our wedding in July 2018 at Danada House. They were not the lowest cost caterer we found but they were one of the more affordable options and we found their food to be better tasting than the lowest cost options and they were very friendly and responded in a timely manner so we opted to go with them! In addition to having many great reviews to back up their work! Our tasting experience was wonderful. They brought out a platter of hors d'oeuvres and had us rate our favorites. I liked that we didn't have to choose which ones we wanted to try ahead of time, they literally just had us try them all. They can also make any changes you want if there was something you didn't like about it. If there is something you want to have in particular at your wedding, just let them know because they would probably make it happen so you could try it at your tasting first (like chicken and waffle sticks was popular this year). We opted for spinach and cheese wontons, beef fajita rolls, bacon wrapped dates, and crab cakes. Their appetizers were honestly so good that even though we were very budget conscious we didn't want to not get them, they were just that good! Then we tried several of their salads and dressings. Their fruit salad and pear dressing was amazing to me, I could eat a whole bowl of it, so for our summer wedding it was perfect! Next the meals came out, we tried several meats, starches, and veggies. We opted for a breaded chicken breast with a sort of bruschetta on top (mainly to keep costs down for us), mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Overall, we were blown away by our tasting experience and decided to go with them. It is important to book your caterer a year or so in advance because they do book multiple venues and can book up your date. We booked Danada and My chef close to 1 year and 8 months out from our wedding so we had a long process with them. Over this time, our representative with My Chef changed to Stephanie about 5 months before our wedding which gave us a little bit of anxiety since we really liked our previous My Chef representative. However, Stephanie, was positive and professional the whole time while taking on our wedding and made it as smooth and stress free as possible! The two month/the two week periods leading up to the wedding I had a lot of "Bride moments" especially because I opted to plan the wedding myself. Stephanie was patient with me the entire time even when I would email her constantly second guessing everything or would change something last minute. She gave me reassurance when I needed it and fixed things that needed to be fixed. I was super worried about the linen colors I chose the weeks leading up to the wedding and now I'm super glad she told me that the colors I chose made sense because the day of the venue looked so beautiful! I also feel that she doesn't just tell you what you want to hear she asks for others opinions and truly does what is in your best interest. The day of the wedding everything went super smooth! The room was so beautiful!!! It looked better than I even imagined it! They also decorated the Hallway with candles which was super nice of them! My grandma was the florist and they were super helpful with her as well. We also asked Stephanie to bring out a piece of cake for our grandmas birthday after the anniversary dance and she timed it perfectly! A guest who had a little too much to drink puked all over a dinner table and they handled it very well, they literally just took out the entire table. It was very fast and barely anyone noticed (I only found out after the wedding.) We were also concerned about them running out of particular beers or liquors since we have some heavy drinkers but it seems like they made it work and they were able to keep up with the bar lines. Stephanie and the catering staff at our wedding did an excellent job, everyone was super friendly and they handled every situation with ease and discretion! My Chef did our wedding on July 5th, 2012. I cannot tell you how many of our guests raved and raved about the food! Sue worked with us on our wedding and was very patient with us. First of all, we didn't want a "wedding wedding" - we wanted to do a rustic/green/very chill wedding - so we had a chef grilling some of the food onsite, and we had a delicious buffet set up. Sue helped us to decide on our rentals (our venue didn't provide anything other than the chairs and tables) and made sure we had everything we needed for the big party. She definitely helped us with the logistics of the day without making us feel stupid (that's always a plus). The food tasting was fantastic! We tried some many different things that were delicious that we had a hard time deciding what to keep. Everything was to die for! The best thing was that the minute we didn't like something (we weren't sure about the cuban pork and the rub on the chix) the chef was like "give me 15 minutes" and came back in 10 with 4 more choices that he just whipped out on the spot. And they were awesome!!! Sue also came out to see our venue not once, but twice before the wedding. It was really nice to see her just a couple of days before the wedding and to be able to discuss where everything would go and how things would work. And it paid off, because on the day of the wedding everything went really smooth (and if it didn't - I never knew about it, which is fine by me). My Chef handled the buffet situation very well - they would let people know when their table could go and get food and kept people from just standing in line and being annoyed. And the food just disappeared. Everyone kept getting up to get more food (but in the end we still had a lot of food left). Oh, did I mention that the cost of this was great? Although I don't have a lot of catering experiences to compare to, I was expecting the catering to be much more expensive, considering that we also had to rent all the glasses/water pitchers/and everything else. When my husband and I went in for a tasting at My Chef, we knew right away that they were going to be our wedding caterer at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet! The food was absolutely incredible. We requested things like less pepper, different vegetables, etc. and they gave us exactly what we asked for. My husband and I were so excited to have our steak and double baked potato at the wedding because it's THAT good. We received so many compliments about the food during and after the wedding. I was so impressed the day of as well. The team arrived early to set up. We ordered the linens from My Chef and the designs they come up with are amazing. Besides that, they went as far as helping me setup the center pieces and head table which they definitely did not have to do! I appreciated their assistance so much. Sue did such an incredible job of advising us on everything from the colors of our wedding (I had a general idea, but she really helped formalize the 4 colors beautifully) Sue gave us excellent recommendations on the number of tables and seats since it was a casual cocktail reception hors de vows style wedding. The food recommendations were wonderful and we received so many compliments on the food and there was enough for everyone. To our surprise, mychef put aside ONE OF EVERYTHING we ordered for the bride and groom. This was especially awesome on our limo ride to the hotel since we had hardly eaten at our wedding reception. We used My Chef for our wedding at Noah's Event Venue in Naperville and throughout the whole process they were super easy to work with and the food was amazing. We opted for the double buffet line and chose a chicken and pork loin dish. Normally we wouldn't go with pork since it may not be a popular choice but once we tried it, we had to choose it! It was amazing; better than the chicken dish in my opinion. The food was hot and the servers were friendly. We worked with Meghann Streicher and she was amazing. She was really on top of responding to any emails and at the wedding she helped out with whatever she could; which we appreciated! We chose to provide our own dessert bar/donut wall and she had the servers replenishing the table for us all night; so even though we didn't use/pay for their desserts, they were more than willing to help us keep the table stocked. Outstanding! From the moment i called them they were responsive and ready to help me. They did Hors d'oeuvres for my wifes 40th birthday serving 70 people. Planned and ready in less than a week. They showed up early to our venue Warehouse 109 in Plainfield. Were very nice during set up and even had Stephanie on site during set up. Then during the birthday party the servers were outstanding. Great with the guests and didnt leave anyone hungry. They were excellent with the serving and with the clean up. Never a dirty plate or napkin left out. Really was way better than I expected. They even had candles that I had forgotten for the cake and helped me out that way. The food served and the meat tray were great! People loved the shrimp cocktail shooters and the beef skewers. We got married at Emerson Creek who partners with My Chef for weddings. Working with Sue and her team was a wonderful part of our wedding planning experience. Our tasting was so fun; Sue created such a nice ambiance, the chefs presented each dish in detail and the team did a great job of listening to what we wanted and giving us the best options. Sue went over with us in detail the catering schedule for the day of, how the food was transported and stored so we knew exactly what to expect. She also gave us great advice on how we could plan the evening to avoid the food getting over-warmed. Sue's communication was clear and timely throughout the planning process. We received a detailed write up of everything we decided both for the menu and the order of events for the evening immediately after the tasting. We postponed our wedding for a year due to COVID-19- when our new date was approaching Sue reached out to clarify some of the decisions we'd made, guest dietary restrictions, etc. This gave me reassurance that everything would go smoothly and as we requested. The day of, the service was remarkable. The staff was friendly and demonstrated the highest level of professionalism. The service was efficient and the food was excellent. Many of our guests made sure to tell us how much they enjoyed the appetizers and their meals. This was really important to us so we were thrilled to get that feedback. You can tell that the people at My Chef love what they do. They do all they can to make their clients happy and they do it with a smile. I have to say, I was a little bummed about my experience with My Chef catering. They came highly reviewed so I think I expected more than what I got. This past weekend I hosted a surprise birthday party for my mom. I wasn't looking for a whole meal, just light appetizers and snacks to accompany the chips, dips, and booze I already had. The party was for about 30 people, and I didn't want to spend too much on apps, so instead of choosing one of their packages I just individually ordered what I wanted. Each appetizer was listed as a minimum purchase of two dozen. These are the options I went with: - Mini hamburgers - Mac n cheese balls - Tuscan skewers with salami, tortellini and olives - Buffalo chicken wontons with blue cheese - Mini Cheese pizzas I also opted to purchase the heating tins so I could easily keep the food warm. When all was said and done it cost me $248 plus tip. YEESH. I overlooked the cost at first because it seemed like the convenience and (assumed) quality would be worth it. Meh, probably not. Let me explain... Positive points: - Food was delivered on time - Delivery guy set everything up quickly - Party guests said the food tasted pretty good Negative points: - Presentation sucked - Food quality was not there for the price I paid. Each item (with the exception of the burgers and skewers) looked like something I could have gotten in the frozen appetizer section at the store and just popped in the micro. Bottom line, I expected more from My Chef. Photos I've seen and reviews I've read seem like they're top notch, but I didn't get that vibe. Don't get me wrong, all the food at my party was eaten, but that's probably largely due to the amount of booze that was being drank. read more

I recently gave a baby shower for my daughter for 33 people. I dealt with a woman named Susan Jacobs who could not have been more helpful. She guided me through the process and made the entire event worry free. We had to have everything Gluten Free and they had no problem with that. We booked My Chef for our wedding at Wilder Mansion in Elmhurst and couldn't have been happier. From the initial tasting, we were sold by their delicious food and professionalism. They offered us a discount right then and there because we were worried about the costs. Their prices are very reasonable for the quality of their food. Their food selection was very vast and they let us try many dishes until we were satisfied with our choices. We worked with Dominick and Laurie, and they were very helpful and made sure our day went very smoothly. They even brought extra candles and table numbers for our venue, which turned out to be extremely helpful. The wait staff was very helpful and accommodating and very professional and helped deal with a couple of our guest issues. My Chef catered our wedding at the Danada House in May 2015. Overall, we were extremely happy with their services, and we would definitely recommend them to our friends and family. My husband and I did tastings with most of Danada's preferred caterers, and we both agreed that My Chef offered the best food at a reasonable price. Their bar packages were also great! Our only issue with My Chef concerned communication in the months leading up to the wedding. Although Dominick was our catering manager, we mostly communicated with his assistant (Kendall at first, and Lindsay later on). I'm not sure if it was due to the staff re-organization or something else, but we often waited a long time to receive a response to our emails and phonecalls, which was frustrating. However, all of our issues did get worked out in the end. On the day of the wedding, we couldn't have been happier with how everything came together. Although we had limited contact with Dominick before the wedding, he did a fabulous job bringing our event to life. He seemed to oversee every aspect of the day--decorating the atrium for the reception, setting up placecards, managing the dinner service. He even packaged our leftover cake for us at the end of the night. He truly knows how to run an event at the Danada House. Even if some of the communication in the months before the wedding was slow, we wouldn't have changed a thing. My Chef truly made our wedding wonderful. read more

Outstanding! We used My Chef for a bridal shower brunch. The customer service from the beginning of ordering the food to the actual service was awesome. Outstanding customer service, our server was very efficient with setup and during the event. The food was terrific. I can't say enough good things. I booked My Chef for my wedding at Hoosier Grove Barn. The cons sadly outweighed the pros for me. The wait staff was attentive, personable, and friendly (I even saw some of my guests taking pictures with a waitress!). The main person we worked with from the office was not responsive to my communication (took over two weeks to respond to a single email, not returning my calls ever). The food was pretty good overall (the mashed potatoes, salad, and meatballs were my favorites). I did make some changes to parts of the dish (only seasoning the green beans with salt and pepper, not adding a bed of tomatoes under the chicken) that were not applied to the plates served at the wedding. Also- their idea of a "late night snack" is serving it right after dessert. I had just gobbled up 2 donuts when all of the sudden, the wait staff were walking around serving grilled cheese (not to mention all of my guests who hadn't even finished dessert yet!). I recently hosted a bridal shower in my backyard and used My Chef for the luncheon. My Chef exceeded my expectations. Susan was my coordinator and was a delight to work with. She listened to my vision and with her knowledge and experience executed a wonderful event. The quality and variety of food was delicious and offered something for everyone. An added bonus was the service staff. Carol, Marianne and Nikki were pleasant and professional. Sue is awesome! We worked with MyChef through our venue and I'm so glad they're partnered with such a great company. From the first time she reached out, she was understanding and accommodating. We met in August for our tasting for a June wedding. We knew almost nothing about what we wanted but she was patient with us. We went with a couple who had just gotten married and got to try SO MUCH FOOD. Everything was delicious and she had a great system for determining which ones were the most well liked among the group. We made our picks, decided to hold off on linens until we had a better understanding of our vision, and went on our way. Well, a lot changes from August to June. I requested a few changes to the menu and Sue was supportive and accommodating of each one. We decided to pick linens at an event our venue hosted (included with our package) and Sue had a couple people there helping with linen choices. Seeing the linens in the venue was so helpful- but boy was I a pain to Sue and her crew! I think we walked from the back of the venue to the front about a dozen times with different swatches. They didn't seem to mind one bit. Every time we saw Sue, she recognized us and treated us like we were two of her favorite people. It's always great to feel special when wedding planning, especially when you realize these people deal with brides every single day. I just used My Chef Catering for a small luncheon I had to celebrate my sisters upcoming wedding!! From the beginning Susan was very helpful and easy to work with. The delivery was right on time and every was packaged perfectly. The food was outstanding. Everything we ate was delicious and every single guest at my party was extremely pleased.
