Designed as a landfill reclamation project, you will find some great topographical features that you simply won't find on too many other courses on the metro. Things like major elevation changes, natural stone walls, and canyons exist throughout the course. The fairways are fairly wide, rolling, and are kept in amazing shape. Even though the course has sparse bunkers and zero water hazards, don't let this fool you in to thinking it's easy, because it isn't. The course is still very challenging due to course topography. Finally it's the only course in the metro that I know openly does dynamic tee time pricing (normally you have to go through a 3rd party to get this). Stone Canyon GC is continually adjusting it's own tee times based on weather, demand, etc. This allows for some really great deals to be found out here. I recently played for $25 including cart. My only disappointments were that the upper tee boxes were closed and the club house is pretty no frills (its a double-wide trailer). I would also think this course could be improved with more bunkers and a couple water hazards on the course.

The Google reviews I'd seen for this place got me to visit and try the lunch food for myself. Glad I did. I had a cheeseburger and fries. A bit pricey, but wow, what a view! The golf course is a near-perfect lunchtime backdrop. The burger was cooked just right; the fries were quite abundant and tasty, although a bit on the greasy side. I'd eat here again, though I doubt that I'd make a special trip only for the takeout. Probably just the ticket when playing golf here, however. So now I'm almost obliged to pop for the $40+ green fee one of these days (higher on weekends). If I do, surely I'll also review that experience.

A quick discussion, and a 4-some and 3-some teeing off in front if us, we opted for maximum punishment...7,000+ yards of fun. What a great course, from the first tee, to the last green, we truly enjoyed the round. Throw in some 200+ yard par 3's, a 591 yard par 5, tons of tree lined par fours, several ponds, a stiff wind and my 91 and playing buddies 86, we're in the books. This was our first time playing here, and we'd probably play the shorter tees next time, as we usually play in the 6,400 yard range. If your looking for greens that putt true, and a new challenge...give the windshield some new views and head over to Richmond...you'll be glad you did.

Backside is not as tight, but rolling hills, keep offering all the challenges any golfer would want. The wind can change this course considerably, the greens are in great shape and fair, minus some sloping from back to front, where a putt past the hole can end up in the fairway. The traps could really use some TLC, as there's hardly any sand in some. This can be typical of public courses in the area. No GPS on the carts, so it's old school 150 and 100 yard stakes. If the price is right, you'll enjoy spending 4 hours fighting the challenges of sunflower hills.

It was remodeled in 2003 and now has Zoysia fairways which is AWESOME! Anytime you can play on Zoysia you have a better lie. You just have to be able to play the fairway ;) The greens range from small to large and the only downside is that late in the summer the greens start to get a little disease and discoloration. Most people repair their divots so you can play a good line to the hole. I would not recommend walking this course on a hot day. 7001 yards is no joke on this course. There are a lot of hills and you will be exhausted by the 12th hole. Other than that, it is a great place to play.

Have had several lessons from all…read moresorts of different instructors and have never had the kind of results that I had with Ryan's' teaching. What I really appreciated about Ryan is he first give you some basic swing instructions to let you work on and then once you have got those dialed in, he will help you fine tune other things to keep lowering your scores. Having the combo of multiple angles of video analysis and really great focused instruction has really improved my golf game. He is always more then willing to work on whatever area of your golf game is giving you problems from driver to short game and get you fixed up! Thanks Imperial Golf!

I bought a Groupon for a swing analysis (23$). The guys were cool (until the pushy sales pitch) and…read morethe high tech equipment was even cooler. The guys asked if I brought a zip/jump drive, (very important if you do not plan on signing up for lessons) I stated no because I was not instructed to do so ( I made a list as he spoke) the guys said its OK you can get it when you come back. That was strike one in my book since it was a 45 min drive from my house. We talked about my swing for a little bit and then the tides changed to a high pressure sale tactic. Buy a 16 week lesson right now, pay in full today for a small discount! I resisted the pitch as much as could w/o rudeness or anger. Even with all the pushyness i asked how much another hour analysis would be w/o a Groupon and I was told it was 50$ I sated I at least I wanted another hour to get my video and continue working on the loads of info. The formally cool guys said he wouldn't do another hour with me because he wouldn't make any money like that, so it was lessons (300$ minimum) or nothing. I am not a business wiz but this doesn't make since to me. I was moderately on the fence about the lessons and because they wouldn't let me come back for just another hour my mind was made up for me. They just gave up on at least another $50 and quite possibly a full lesson. I am sorry to rant on here and post a huge review but the whole process left a sour taste in my mouth and it wasn't smart on their end.
