This is a solid course choice in the area. Reasonable greens fees, great customer service, and good pace of play. Our group of eight tees off at 2:10pm and we stayed on pace all day. The lady in the snack bar treated us like her children.... basically made us custom sandwiches to order. Pro shop staff friendly and efficient! Course took some hard rain the night before and although we were cart path only, the course was easily playable. Challenging layout and course conditions were 8.5/10. Greens rolled excellent!

This course was a lot of fun!! But I think the best thing about it and why it is 5star in my book was the pace of play!!! We finished 18 holes in 3.5 hrs and never waited to hit after the 1st tee box. Tee box's by the way are some of the best in the area!! All 18 boxes were in great shape. This is a hilly course with some tight fairways and plenty of sand, water, and trees. With good course management several birdies if not eagles are available for the taking. The only knock I have with the course is not even their fault. The greens are laden with hickey marks from people not repairing their divots. This is a personal pet peeve of mine... Anyway, even with that the greens rolled very consistent and true each green seemed to have the same speed which was nice. Well worth the drive and price our group will be back again!!

    Wet day on the links...

Love trying new courses. Beautiful course, a bit challenging at times. Greens and faireways were in great shape when we played.

Stone Canyon Golf Club is a diamond in the rough. Located on the Independence/Blue Springs border,…read moreit is certainly full of some surprises for the area it's located in. Designed as a landfill reclamation project, you will find some great topographical features that you simply won't find on too many other courses on the metro. Things like major elevation changes, natural stone walls, and canyons exist throughout the course. The fairways are fairly wide, rolling, and are kept in amazing shape. Even though the course has sparse bunkers and zero water hazards, don't let this fool you in to thinking it's easy, because it isn't. The course is still very challenging due to course topography. Finally it's the only course in the metro that I know openly does dynamic tee time pricing (normally you have to go through a 3rd party to get this). Stone Canyon GC is continually adjusting it's own tee times based on weather, demand, etc. This allows for some really great deals to be found out here. I recently played for $25 including cart. My only disappointments were that the upper tee boxes were closed and the club house is pretty no frills (its a double-wide trailer). I would also think this course could be improved with more bunkers and a couple water hazards on the course.

For the lucky ones, Lakewood CC offers a wonderfully manicured layout, with several twists and turns golfers love. The layout was quite a bit more hilly than I was expecting, and shotmaking was at a premium, as almost every fairway is lined with with houses, roads, trees or water. As we found out, errant tee shots deliver roof thudding "bangs", my drives were all straight down the fairway...wink...wink...as the surrounding houses are big and beautiful...an interesting side note, several houses have fortified enclosures providing some degree of protection, yet very entertaining on the level of ingenuity, fashioned to erect them. The greens are decent sized, but roll like glass, which adds a level of skill our 4-some was missing. Bunkers are plentiful, and well maintained. The highlight of my round occurred on holes 5 and 6, both pars 3's. 100 yds over water, then 130 yds onto a peninsula. Very creative holes tucked between houses and water... I was lucky enough to be invited to a tournament and play this wonderful course, so if you ever get the chance, jump on it...

The Google reviews I'd seen for this place got me to visit and try the lunch food for myself. Glad I did. I had a cheeseburger and fries. A bit pricey, but wow, what a view! The golf course is a near-perfect lunchtime backdrop. The burger was cooked just right; the fries were quite abundant and tasty, although a bit on the greasy side. I'd eat here again, though I doubt that I'd make a special trip only for the takeout. Probably just the ticket when playing golf here, however. So now I'm almost obliged to pop for the $40+ green fee one of these days (higher on weekends). If I do, surely I'll also review that experience.

What a great course, from the first tee, to the last green, we truly enjoyed the round. Throw in some 200+ yard par 3's, a 591 yard par 5, tons of tree lined par fours, several ponds, a stiff wind and my 91 and playing buddies 86, we're in the books. This was our first time playing here, and we'd probably play the shorter tees next time, as we usually play in the 6,400 yard range. If your looking for greens that putt true, and a new challenge...give the windshield some new views and head over to Richmond...you'll be glad you did.
