Corpsmembers at CCNB simultaneously earn a paycheck, work toward their diploma, and receive supportive services. Four days each week are dedicated to paid job training on natural resources and zero waste projects, including fire fuel reduction, invasive species removal, trail maintenance, recycling collection, and much more. Members who have not yet graduated high school supplement this work experience through enrollment in John Muir Charter School, with class sessions in the evening and on Fridays, and work steadily toward their diploma. Additionally, all corpsmembers take part in CCNB’s Career Pathways programming, which includes one-on-one coaching, weekly skill development workshops, career exploration, and job placement support. Waste Not Want Not Salvaging is one of those rare organizations that quietly does real, practical…read morework for the community. They help businesses and residents keep usable materials out of the landfill by finding ways to reuse, repair, and redistribute items that still have value. Instead of throwing things away, they connect materials with artists, educators, farms, nonprofits, and people who can actually use them. They also provide supervised community service opportunities and help elderly or overwhelmed residents responsibly clear out and rehome items. The focus is thoughtful, resourceful, and environmentally responsible. It's refreshing to see a small nonprofit solving real waste problems while supporting the local community at the same time. Marin County is lucky to have a group doing this kind of hands-on reuse and salvage work.

I don't have time to try to sell them. When I attempted to offer them for free, I encountered more flakes than I can count. I have some concerns about liability. What happens if I give away a ladder and someone takes a fall? Could I receive any tax deduction since I am giving these items away. I encountered Jesse of Waste Not Want Not and my concerns were immediately quelled. Jesse is conscientious about making sure that items are recycled or rehomed. He offered me a release of liability and offered me a tax-deductible receipt for the 501(c) 3 he runs. Most importantly I can feel good that my parents' items will find their way into the hands of folks who could really benefit from them. I am glad that I can avoid paying storage fees to retain items I don't need while being confident that they will end up in a network of folks who could really use them. Problems solved.

Last year there were 1500 runners. The people at CVNL are always super busy so it is best to just stop by and see them if you want something.

It in itself is poorly organized and if you are just inquiring to get information there is no receptionist and therefor you must guess as to who you want to talk to from a recorded laundry list of names and departments. If you guess wrong you will just have to hope that that person will refer your name to someone there that can help. My suggestion is that they hire someone to organize them before they attempt to help anyone else.
